The Chandler is by no means a fancy hotel, but it has a friendly staff, clean rooms and good location. It is in a gay friendly neighborhood and has a fun gay bar on the 1st floor. The major drawback is there is NO PARKING close to the hotel! Just this last trip, I got a $50 ticket.

Our stay at the Chandler Inn was plesant. Nestled in what appeared to be a residential area..I loved walking along the streets lined with townhouese. Just the basics are offered in the room which keeps the price reasonable. Overall the room was fine..my only complaints: the bed was kinda lumpy and bedspread looked in need of being replaced and there weren't many channels to choose from on cable. Within walking distance to Back Bay shopping and the Theater District. Within walking distance to the "T" (Green line, Back Bay stop). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Plus, the coffee machine in the lobby was cool - served indiviual coffees so you could get a cappacino while your friend got an expresso. Great hotel for those traveling on a budget who want to be downtown.

My flight was delayed and my taxi pulled up outside the Chandler Inn at 11pm on a Friday night. I didn't know what kind of area I was staying in, and was a little surprised by the dimly lit street and gay bar attached to the hotel. It looked much better by daylight, but it's definately not a luxury hotel. I'd recommend it to someone traveling alone or very light on a budget. I think you'd be able to find a better hotel for the same price.

The price is really good considering the central location, and hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The bedding was a little threadbare, but overall the place is well-kept and fairly comfortable. If you're looking for a nice budget hotel, this is the place.

The hotel is hard to get to (at least for an out-of-towner) by car... plus there is no parking (nearest lot $22/day. The bar attached to the hotel is quite popular with the locals who were heard several nights on the street rapping some quite obscene raps. The rooms are old and small - TV reception was fuzzy and no HBO. Personnel were very friendly and helpful though and the shower was strong and hot.

Hotel is close to public transportation (greenline) and walking distance from major attractions/restaurants. Rooms are small, but efficient and clean. Hotel is on a quiet corner. Recommended for travelers that don't need a lot of amenities, but prefer to stay downtown.

This is a nice place. The people who work there are nice and it is a good clean place when looking for somewhere to stay in the South End. I think that the price is too high for this place though. For a few dollars more I could have stayed at a nicer place with a more comfortable bed, sattelite TV, a remote control that actually had batteries in it, and a bigger bathroom. I think they should be careful not to price themselves out of business.

This is a a great deal for Boston and the hotel's location. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the Back Bay Subway/Amtrak Rail station. The hotel is in a tree lined neighborhood, with beautiful 18th and 19th century row houses. There are several good neighborhood restaurants and the hotel is just a few minutes walk (in all directions) to many restaurants with all types of foods and price ranges offering lots of choices no matter what your budget may be. The hotel is a nice 8 story building (with elevators). The room was spotlessly clean. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side but equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The beds were also very comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do and places to see. Again this is a great bargain for Boston and I highly recommend the hotel.

The Chandler Inn is a small, European-style hotel not too far from the Hynes Convention Center and the Prudential Center. There is a subway station 4 or so blocks away. The rooms only have one bed, but were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and functional and the water was nice and warm. There are inexpensive places to eat very close by (breakfast/lunch diner, pizza), and some fancier, more elegant fare just a couple of blocks away. There is a wonderful little bar next to the hotel (it's on the first floor of the same building) serves a wonderful brunch and caters to a neighborhood/sports/gay clientele. All and all, a very nice bargain for those who don't want to pay for all the extra amenities of a full-scale American/luxury hotel.

We're rating "Comfort of room" less than a "5" because we did not get the room we reserved (due to a mechanical problem of some sort). When we arrived late Friday night, instead of a double room with a double or queen size bed, we ended up in a very small room with twin beds. It was fine for the weekend, but wouldn't have been as comfortable for a long stay. The only other complaint is the towels - the bath towels could be a little bigger! The front desk staff was wonderful - friendly, informative and eager to help.
