The resort is beautiful, service is good, food is good but very pricey, a drink is about $9.00 for a cocktail. The resort has great facilities, but does not have a jacuzzi in their pool. Our a/c unit leaked water all over our belongings and the resort was alerted but they said they couldn't do anything until the morning. I was a bit upset, but they were able to accommadate us with an adjustment. This is a nice place but don't think I would go back.

We arrived on my birthday and they left wine on ice and a fruit platter with a birthday note in our room without any prompting. What a welcome! The setting is perfect. They offered us a choice of rooms. A few children around but tolerable. The pool is shallow but the beach makes up for it. The staff couldn't have been anymore helpful or pleasant. Breakfast on the veranda is an amazing way to start the day. Spa is just okay. Renovations to start this summer, things should change but hopefully staff will remain the same. Alberto & Donna rule.

For a special escape my wife and I celebrated a significant birthday, using the Martineau Bay Resort as a base. We rented a sporty car at the agency across the street, and enjoyed the quaint town of Isabel Segunda, the fine restaurants throughout the island (including the Resort's), and especially the unspoiled beaches now available with the U.S. Navy's withdrawal from using the island for maneuvers. The natives were very friendly, the horses roam the streets free and safe, and it felt like a charmingly backward Caribbean island with all the advantages of a part of the U.S. Highly recommended for those who want a quiet, charming but comfortable escape.

The hotel is nice enough- the pool is clean but uniformly shallow (good for kids not for swimming). The service varied from terrible to great depending on who you dealt with- the concierge was very helpful, the front desk was sweet but generally incompetent. Checking in, our first room hadn't been cleaned but they moved us to a better room by the pool. Sadly, we could hear every word our neighbors said, echoing in our room but happily, we all quickly realized and chose to be very quiet. The food is fine as long as you stick to the pool and bar menus. They had an extra $802 dollars from the gift shop on our bill so check closely before you check out.

We stayed at the Martineau Bay hotel for a week in late Feb-Eary march. It's a great place. The beds are wonderful and the ocean view room (which we were upgraded to on arrival) were really luxurious. There are a few very rough edges, but each one you see you think "I'm glad I'm not paying extra for that." That is, the stuff that could be better doesn't matter. Two things. First, the food at the place really is too expensive. It's good, but very pricey. Second, the hotel's beach is not all that great. Both of these problems have an easy solution -- rent a car from Martineau Car rental (across the street from the hotel). There are great restaurants on the island and stunning beaches. The car gives you access to both.

We loved the room, had a very big n comfortable bed. The bath was spacious as well. The food was alright. We were disappointed though, that even for a 2-hour extension the day of our check-out, they wanted to charge us. I mean, we dint expect that on a friendly island...

When I was planning my trip to Vieque, I was debating between staying at this Resort or one of the guesthouses. I'm glad I made the choice to stay at the Martineau Bay Resort. The thing that most impress me was the friendliness of the staff. Upon arrival, we were given a brief tour of the Resort. Throughout my stay, they were very helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and big. I didn't have a car and it turned out to be difficult getting around Vieque because taxi service was limited and unreliable; I ended up spending a lot of my time just relaxing at the resort.

The hotel and the beach are beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel, however, is overpriced and not very good. Be sure to explore other places on the island to eat. Also bring plenty of OFF for the mosquitos! All and all, we had a wonderful time and will be going back.

Just back from a great stay at the Wyndham Martineau Bay. Very impressed with the hotel, clean, well maintained. Standard rooms are impressive, large bathroom and living area, and balcony/terrace. Service was a little poor, especially considering how quiet the resort was. Took 3 requests for a stereo to be put in the room and we ended up arranging our own activities one day as the concierge couldn't manage it... Overall very nice though.

We traveled to Vieques on recommedation of a friend and thought this resort would be perfect for our stay. It did not disappoint. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool and the ocean and the front desk/concierge service we're always helpful and polite. Food was very good but pricey. We enjoyed the private beaches and views of the sunset from the property. The spa was welcoming and a great way to relax from a days' travel. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We had a relaxing visit. The staff was friendly and helpful and very accomodating. The pool and beaches were nice and the food was very good. The rooms were large and nice looking but there was a horrible mildew smell that almost ruined our stay. They were kind enough to move us to another room that wasn't as bad. Unfortunately it wasn't much better. I think it could pose some real health concerns. I would love to go back if they could solve the moisture/mildew problem.

Great hotel, but you really need to check on how to get there. It is not very clear that you need another flight or ferry to get to the island.

Totally overpriced and unfortunately the prices don't reflect a level of class. A water bottle provided in the room, which we believed to be a courtesy bottle, was charged to our account for $7 on check-out. Tsk, tsk. They should be ashamed with what we paid for the hotel, not to mention they should not leave it without a note telling you if you drink it you will be charged. We've stayed at far less expensive places that provide water in the room. The restaurant food was awful and extremely expensive leaving not much of a choice as to where to eat. At breakfast a glass of orange juice was $5. We ended up renting a car just to find better food and better prices. A beautiful hotel, well-maintained, and with a helpful staff. However, we would never go back.

The hotel/spa was wonderful, quite scenic, very relaxing. The service at the spa was excellent, the wait staff was uneven, some excellent, some inattentive. The room we had was located on the 3rd floor, overlooking the pool and the ocean. Brilliant ! Consider it a BYO if you wish beverages in your room or a cigar (my hubby) on the balcony. Tuck a couple of bottles in your luggage, there is virtually no shopping on the island. The restaurant food and drinks, and the swim up bar were very good.

This hotel may only be reached via a ferry from Fojardo which stops running at 4:30 PM on most days. Make sure you arrive in PR early enough to make the hour drive to Fojardo and still catch the ferry.
