TV kept going out. Hotel lobby sent maintnence to room. Was a little concerning to have a male in and out of a single females room. Changed the cable cord but that didn't work. Was told that TV was "working." I assured that it was not--as the screen would be fine for a few minutes...then roll...then turn to snow for several minutes and repeat the process. As a business traveler who is required to work in the hotel room all night--it was very frutrating NOT to have TV as background sound. Especially since the pool was directly beneath room and full of approx 30 adults screaming at the top of their lungs for an hour until security was finally called. Alarm in hotel went off--loud and for a very long time. Kids and parents yelling in the hall ways late at night and early in the morning. Spider in bed when I pulled back the sheets. Room smelled.

The hotel is clean, though the first non-smoking room offered was definitely not a one. The second room, whilst clean, was on the road side and the noise coming from the adjacent freeway was poorly trapped by the glass pane and the curtains. Our room was the "Kids Suite" which was perfect for our two kids. There was sufficient attention to the little details, eg. soaps, coffee, towels etc. which overcame the noise issues. I'd stay again, but on the quiter side this time.

This hotel provided what we needed. The bunk bed suite was a great improvement over a standard room, if you have kids. Breakfast was adaquate. Directions to attractions by the front desk were great. The zoo, Sea World, shopping, and dining were within a ten minutes drive. I would only recommend this hotel to families; if you want a romantic getaway, stay north of the city on the beach.

This hotel was excellent. It was centrally located to seaworld and San Diego Zoo! The kids suite made it so that the family could be together and when it was time for rest, you also had a little seperation for both our sons and my wife and myself to enjoy too. Hotel staff was great and the rooms were the best. Thank you again for this wonderful stay!!!

After checking into the hotel, we like others that have stayed at this hotel, found the room to have a strong musty smell. We called the front desk, and we were switched to a different room that didn't face the pool. We were really glad we did! We had no problems whatsoever with the new room. Beds were a little hard, but they were still decent. Staff was very helpful and pretty friendly. The first night we were there, a lacrosse tournament was going on in the area, so it was kind of noisy with all the kids running around in the hotel. Our last three nights were just fine. We found the continental breakfast pretty convenient, it was basic cereals, muffins, bagels, and other pastries. Not the healthiest, but decent nonetheless. Overall, it was a very convenient hotel located right off the freeway, and we would definitely stay here again. It's not a five star hotel by any means, but we found it definitely worth the price we paid.

The Kid's Suite is a good idea. My kids enjoyed the bunk bed and we all liked having the fridge and microwave in the room. The continental breakfast is fair. While the hotel in general is maintained well, our suite was in need of cosmetic repairs (peeling wallpaper, wall dings). The window was off-hinge, the A/C emitted a funny smell and the walls are very thin. On our second night, they must have checked in a boys basketball team to our floor. While the boys were not yelling or screaming, we could hear their doors slamming shut and their conversations in the hall seemed to be amplified. When the guest above our suite walked across his room, our entire room would creak loudly. It was very noisy and difficult to sleep. I think the mattress was too soft and my back was sore the next day. I won't return to this hotel the next time I'm in SD.

This hotel is a good option. It is not a luxury hotel or resort, but I had a spacious room, pretty comfortable. Only stay here if you will have a car. If you do, it is pretty close to most things you'll want to do in San Diego: we could get to Downtown, or to the Mission, or to Old Town all within 5-10 minutes. La Jolla was a bit farther. The hotel is right by the 8 freeway, so there isn't much of a view. The noise wasn't too much, though. I can't forget to mention the breakfast, which was much better than I would expect from a hotel in this category. It has fruit, bagels and pastries, cereal, juice, milk, a toaster, and coffee. The people there were mostly families with children, or older couples. In conclusion, if you want a decent place to stay, with no frills and no surprises, close to Sea World, etc, with a decent price, and a good breakfast, stay here.

The hotel is literally right off the highway, which at first made me a little leery. But there was no problem with road noise, even though we had a view of the on ramp from our window. This hotel was well maintained and had a decent free cold breakfast (pastries, bagels, cereals). If you are traveling to San Diego to visit the parks this is a great home base. It is close to everything. There is also a convienient shopping center right down the street with a Target if you forgot anything!

The girls were thrilled with the Kid's Suite. Kids in their own room thrilled the parents, too. Front desk personnel were helpful and courteous. Hotel was near the major attractions. The only flaw was the a/c unit was in kid's room and only a small vent connected to main bedroom; made it rather stuffy. Otherwise, cannot say enough about our stay. Will definitely return soon.

It was about 10 minutes from the beach, Sea World, and the Zoo. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and Hunter Steakhouse (great steaks and prime rib) was located on the property so we didn't have to drive to get a really nice meal. Overall, the hotel was basic with an average room. The hot tub, though always crowded, was nice. For the money, it was ok. However, we stayed on the 4th floor near the breakfast room and every day there were screaming children running down the hall during breakfast hrs 6:30 -9:30. Don't expect to sleep in. One side of the building is right next to the freeway so it's pretty noisy there too. Breakfast was awful. We thought we would save money by eating breakfast at the hotel but it was so bad we ended up having to get something out anyway. Definitely not the variety of fresh fruit, etc. that's pictured on the sign outside. Also, our phone rang every night at 4 AM because of some problem or mistake. The front desk staff was helpful but didn't figure out to fix it until our last nt. It's ok for people who want a basic hotel and can stand the kids & noise but don't pay too much. The location is convenient for driving to attractions.

We picked this hotel as an inexpensive way to extend a business trip to the area and were surprised and pleased by the condition of the room and the amenities offered. Be aware that it is an older hotel and right off the highway but our room was quiet, clean and nicely remodelled. The continental breakfast was better than we expected with fresh fruit, breads and pastries, cereal, juices etc. It certainly saved us time and money. Our daughter loved the small game room off the lobby and the pool, although I wish the pool had more privacy being right off one of the parking lots. This was our fifth trip to the San Diego area and we have stayed in hotels for more that certainly offered less. There is no restaurant in the hotel but it has easy access to the highway and is close to all the attractions and beaches. We would definitely stay again.

We loved the Kid's suite set-up; it is perfect for families. The location was pretty good; easy to find the zoo and the harbor. The breakfast was good and quite convenient. The hotel was older, and not as clean as I would have liked it to be. Bathroom was sort of dingy. The heated pool was not nearly warm enough for me but my daughter seemed to be OK in it. TV in adult part of the suite was not working properly but was repaired when I notified the staff, though I had to ask twice to make it happen. I think I'd only recommend it conditionally; for families who don't mind older properties and who need a separate space for the kids. I travel a lot on business and tend to be pretty picky about where I stay, so the slightly below average cleanliness was a problem for me. Bring a travel candle if you have a sensitive nose.
