| I was really surprised when I opened the door to the hotel room. I had read negative reviews of the hotel, so I had prepared myself for the worst. The room was large with high ceilings and a ceiling fan, a big window, a sink (other than the bathroom sink), a comfortable king size bed, 2 night stands, a desk, a rocking chair and a large tv in an armoire. The bathroom had marble like material, towels shaped into seashells, a wooden ice bucket and drinking glasses (instead of plastic). I felt as though I was in a room at home, rather than a hotel room. The only 2 things I found wrong were light bulbs that were out and dust on the hardwood floors that made the bottom of my feet dirty. Those are minor things that can be easily corrected. I don't know if the negative reviews were over exagerated, or if I just happened to get one of the good rooms, but I enjoyed the room I stayed in. The hotel's location is great, because it is located within walking distance of popular attractions, such as Canal St, The Riverwalk, The Aquarium of the Americas and Harrahs Casino. I did not have to worry about paying additional parking fees when I wanted to sight-see. I plan on staying at this hotel whenever I visit N.O. again.

| once a coffee warehouse turned hotel, this place has a lot of character. the high ceiling and fan in our room was gorgeous. there was central air conditioning if we didn't want to use the fan. the added bonus of a safe in the closet made me feel more secure about leaving valuables in the room. however if you are the type to prefer carpeting over hardwood floors, then you'll be disappointed. also there is no fridge to store your drinks. but other than that, it is a really nice hotel.

| We stayed one night and walked around the corner to Mulate's for a Cajun dinner and dance featuring BeauSoleil--Bob Dylan was in the audience! Then we stopped at a fine brew pub nearby and strolled into the French Quarter. A fine breakfast at Momma's just down the block and we were off to Jazz Fest. The Ambassador staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was small but comfortable, with a great cd player so we could play zydeco and Dr. John. The elevator with its four walls of mirrors was bright and cheery. No complaints, and a fine price!

| I was a little worried after reading some negative reviews post-Katrina and pre-Jazz Fest. We stayed the first weekend of Jazz Fest and really enjoyed our stay. The only detractor was our room being on the corner of the first floor of the building, but other than cars and the occasional talking, noise was not a problem. I liked the history, wood floors and especially the location! Close enough for a nice walk to the French Quarter but far enough to sleep at night. This is not the place to stay if all you want to do is party on Bourbon Street or you are expecting all the frills of an upscale hotel. However, if you are looking for a balance of history and service, with a great location between the French Quarter and the Warehouse District, with nice rooms, go with the Ambassador.

| beyond the unprofessional front desk staff, the cleaning staff began shouting to each other in the hallway at about 8am. The room had one tiny window that looked into a small alley. the room was very creepy without windows to open. Also the bathroom had a number of very long dark hairs on the sink, the floor and basically everywhere. I will not go back to this hotel.

| Interesting place - hardwood floors in every room - but no on-site prepared food, linen service every 3 days, my room had thin walls and cracked and peeling plaster. A co-worker had a great room on the same visit - so I guess it's luck of the draw. Free wireless Internet service worked fine. Free parking but a block from the hotel. The food and service are issues at most hotels in N.O. right due to lack of staff now so can't ding them too much for that. They bring in a buffet meal each night...

| I love the exposed brick and wide hardwood floors. I love the location...walkable to the river and French Quarter. BUT! the cleaning staff woke us up by 7am; the hotel restaurant which was supposed to deliver room service up until 11pm had already closed the kitchen when we called at 9:45; and the elevators and bathrooms were rather shabby. I stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. It was disappointing that it wasn't as nice this time around. Maybe they're just in a transition phase.

| While the the lobby in this Warehouse District hotel is inviting, the majority of rooms have no windows, let alone views. All you see are bricks. Not pretty bricks. Not decorative bricks. Just plain old dusty bricks. You can almost taste the cement sloughing off the walls. It really was a renovated warehouse. The best thing about the place is that its only one block away from Mother's, serving some of the finest Soul food I've every eaten. Their Ham or Blackened End Biscuits are amazing ($4.50) and their Turtle Soup was to die for.

| Hotel was pretty nice, without a lot of bells and whistles-no room service, balcony, or swimming pool. 1 block walk to Harrah's casino, if that is your pleasure (very nice). One drawback-hotel advertised free valet parking, but after arriving late for check in (10:30pm) we were told that their parking lot was full, and we had to pay for our own parking across the street ($18)-sucked. Rooms are in the style of old fashioned flats, small but nice. Restaurant while being very reasonably priced considering it was in a hotel, had terrible food and terrible iced tea. Advertises that they are within minutes of the French Quarter. Maybe if you are jogging. If you are headed to Bourbon street, its about a twenty minute walk. We were going to be near the casino. I probably would not stay here again, as I would prefer to be closer to Bourbon and the French Quarter. You pay for location.

Really clean. Staff always helpful. The bar was friendly and restaurant basic but good. The location is great, and this was so much nicer than staying in one of the bigger hotels which have no sense of history or local culture. Thanks for a great stay.

I called the hotel the next day and told them exactly where I had left the item. They said they couldn't find it. Not surprised, but still disappointed. Also, our room did not have a window. | The best thing about this hotel is Banditos, the mexican restuarant adjacent to the lobby. Good drinks, fun staff and tasty food. If you get a decent room at the hotel, you might stay, if not you will not be happy at all. Make sure to book another room at another hotel just in case you get a small terrible room. They do not guarantee what you will get; be careful. Their slick marketing far exceeds reality. So much potential is lost here, due to poor disengaged staff that has been hardened by the line of people in line to complain on a daily from what I saw, and just plain bad manners and customer service. Great location though , and hopefully they will get their act together because it is a cool old building...

| The room was large, but not very clean. Close to everything. The polished floors are very noisy and you can hear your neighbours walking around. Our stay was spoiled by early morning party goers next door, coming home at 3.00pm and continuing shouting, screaming and making lots of noise. It felt like they were in our room. We have to get up at 4.30pm for an early flight back to Australia, so just got up earlier. It was pointless to complain to the front desk when we had only an hour left before we had to wake up. The extra $4.95 resort fee was a bit much. Gym facilities, foyer and Mexican Restaurant are great extras.

| The hotel was going under remodelling so they are trying to improve. You could tell that hotel had not been maintained but now it is under new management an they are definately improving. The service personnel were very nice and helpful, the rooms were clean. I read some of the reviews before staying there and one of those reviews stated that it was noisy so we took a white noise machine and did not have any problems. Although you could still hear people closing their doors all up and down the hall. For people on a budget it was not bad but not great.

| Based on the age of the property, it was in fairly good condition. If you don't like old properties, you won't like this hotel. It's got hard wood floors in many rooms. If you get a room facing the front of the hotel, your room will not be dark because they only have mini blind type things over the windows, no draperies. It looks like an old warehouse turned hotel. So it's got character. But if you're looking for a full service hotel, I would not recommend it.

| Perfect location, close to the French Quarter, yet far enough away to get a quiet night sleep and great morning/evening walks. Lots of character w/brick walls and hardwood floors, but the quality of newly renovated rooms is shabby. Poor tiling, caulking and painting. The concierge was extremely polite and helpful, but the staff at the front desk didn't even acknowledge when guests entered or left, even when they were not busy and made eye contact. We did not even get a thank you when we paid our bill. No one was overtly rude, just not friendly. The manager needs to follow up on training and basic people skills/pleasantries that are a necessity in the hotel industry. The rooms were not cleaned thouroughly between the previous person and ourselves. The mattresses needed to be replaced, not just soft but you actually roll to the middle where the indentation is. We are not difficult to please customers, all we ask for is a clean room, a good mattress, great location and a friendly staff.

Location was excellent, just blocks away from RiverWalk, French Quarters, Bourbon St, Harrah's. Staff was excellent and took very good care of us. The only downfall of the hotel is you can hear everything the person in the next room is saying. It's kind of annoying when you really want to go to sleep. | The hotel was exactly as described. It was clean, comfortable, and in walking distance to burbon street and the french market. The staff was very kind and knowledgable about entertainment in the area. There are hidden fees that you are not warned about. There is a fee of $4.95 per day to cover the cost of the telephone and tv. Not bad but would like to have known about it. I would definently stay again. We went during Mardi Gras week so the first night we were not able to park our van and had to pay $30 to park across the street which was priced for the holiday. The walls are thin and you can hear people in the next room as well. Overall I loved it and will stay there again if ever in New Orleans again.

| Positives of this hotel - I checked in on the Wednesday night of Mardi Gras - surprised to see a parade was going right by my room. I had a nice view and it was a good location. The price was right - all other hotels in the area were 2 and 3 times as much. The room was clean and spacious. The front desk clerk was friendly. I did not eat at the restaurant at the hotel. Negatives of this hotel - they don't tell you about a mandatory $4.95 "Communications Fee," to use the phone for all the local and long distance calls you want. I had my cell so I had no intent to use the room phone, but $5 wasn't a big deal. Also, there was NO water pressure in the shower, so washing my hair was tricky. The woman concierge was snotty when I asked a question about a tour. Overall, it was a decent hotel for the price.

| How can I put this nicely?? I can't. Let's start with the mold...It was everywhere. The shower and sink knobs where just plain gross. You could see the grout on the bathroom floor hadn't been scrubed in ages. The lamp switch was broken and we had to unscrew All the walls in the room had dirt and marks all over them. There were even cobwebs on the ceiling. Let's move on to the walls, or should I say what walls...they are paper thin. You can hear the people next door and above you, day and night. You are forced to pay a phone and internet fee, even if you don't use them, or should I say even if you could use them. I was unable to connect to anything, and the TV reception was so aweful, you could't even watch the news. Believe it or not, I do have one good thing to say about this place...The Mexican resteraunt has excellent food! It even has a great vegitarian menu that we tried things off of, and all was excellent. The history of the place is what attracted us, but my suggestion is to just read about it, don't stay there.
