Stayed in the new section of the Dana, overlooking Mission Bay. Large, comfortable room with 2 Queen Beds and a chair the made into a single bed. Wonderful pool and hot tub with pool bar. Room also came with microwave and refrigerator. Enjoyed our stay here and will hopefully return in the future.

This hotel is outdated! Loud single pain windows, broken double lock on the door, the shower it not big enough for an adult. The pillows and mattress are dead. The pool service is slow, no towels to dry off when you get out. The food was substandard and expensive. The pizza they delivered tasted like card board. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to my worst enemy.

We stayed in the old part because we had a dog with us. They don't allow pets in the new part. The old part is two levels and looks like a typical apartment style complex. The newer part is 3 levels and looks like a new condo complex. The room is decent size. The beds and carpet smelled kind of musty, but it serves its purpose...sleeping. This place is literally right on the dock of the bay and within walking distance to SeaWorld, although they have free shuttles which we weren't aware of. It's about a $20 cab ride to the Gaslamp district. No major complaints at all, but not 'oh my god' either. If you can get a deal, which we did, definitely take it. You wont' be sorry you stayed here, but not overlyexcited either.

This hotel is centrally located, right by Sea World, Mission Bay and within 10 minutes of La Jolla. We found it easy to get around, great access to freeways. Room was rather small with 2 adults and 2 kids but fine for just sleeping--beds were comfortable and hotel was quiet. The 2 pools were GREAT and had food/drinks right there. Views of the Marina were beautiful. We stayed in the older section and were satisfied although the new side looked amazing.

We stayed for three nights, and there were five weddings on the hotel grounds during that time. It was easy to see why; the hotel's location on the edge of Mission Bay provides spectacular views of the water, green grass, palm trees and sandy beaches. The food in the two restaurants was above average, and we spent about $12-15 per person per meal, including drinks and tips. All staff was friendly. The decor in the spacious room (a Bayside Deluxe) was great. We had two queen beds and a pullout sofa in our room, which was perfect for a family of four. We were in the 1100 building, which had a view of Sunset Park. Next time we go, we will ask for a room in the 1200 building, which has views of the bay itself. The park is public, and it is a little disconcerting to discover that ground floor patios are open to the park where people can look right in. I recommend a 2nd floor room. The pools and jacuzzis are great. Apart from swimming, the kids' favorite activity was renting pedal boats and cruising around the marina. This was our first stay at this hotel. I'm sure we will return, as we loved it here.

We were very impressed with The Dana. It was close enough to Mission Beach to be convenient without being right in the middle of the action all the time. Boat rentals right at the hotel and fairly competitive rates. We really appreciated being on the 1st floor with the pool right outside our patio and the ice machines were very handy. The only thing we were disappointed with was the fact that there is no complimentary breakfast. We went to the lounge for their buffet and it was limited and very pricey. Aside from that, we had no regrets and would definitely return to The Dana.

It is a great place to stay. You are centrally located. You could walk to Sea World or take their free shuttle. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious for a standard room. The pools are great especially if you have little one. Both pools have big shallow ends and you can order from their 2 restaurants. Great deal.

The hotel was overall, great... The Maid service was a little bit of a letdown... Don't get me wrong, the room was in great condition when we returned each night, but we were missing washcloths one night; the next day they took away our robes and did not leave new ones. Each time though, a single call to the front desk solved the problem. Overall, these were considered small problems they were taken care of by the staff. The view was terific, access to roads and freeways was great. You could throw a rock to Sea World (well maybe Catfish Hunter).

We just got back from a trip to Ca. We stayed in San Diego for two nights at the Dana. The hotel was great. We stayed in the newer white building that faces the bay (You DON'T want to stay in the older brown building with no view). The room was big, clean, and very nicely decorated. We were on the 1st floor and we could walk right off the patio and take a lovely walk by the bay. The service was very friendly and helpful. We lost our breakfast vouchers and they replaces them with no problem. You can walk to Sea World in about 15 min. It's not the most direct walk, but very doable. My teenage kids are picky about hotels and they rated it as one of their favorites. We definitely recommend staying there.

The older part of the hotel is very basic. The walls are thin and you can hear every sound outside and in the next room. There was no fan and the heating/ac unit was noisy. We didn't think the room was good value for money at all, although the rest of the hotel was good.

We arrived at the hotel at noon and we had reserved two rooms. One of the rooms was ready, the other was not, and they made us wait until 4:00 before we could have the other one. The room we were waiting for had been cleaned, but the person at the desk kept saying it "wasn't ready". Also, we wanted adjoining rooms, but the rooms they gave us were at opposite ends of the building. We won't go back.

Our stay was wonderful! For example, when returning every evening from either Disneyland or SeaWorld we walked into a room that made us feel comfy and "like at home". One bed was always made nice with my daughter's blankets and dolls set nicely on the bed. What an extra mile that person took to make us feel special. Beautiful stay and will return for sure!!!

The Dana is right on Mission Bay and there is a nice walkway that follows around the bay. The hotel's grounds are beautiful as flowers abound. The on-site restaurant is nice, under $10 per person for breakfast, but an option we took advantage of was the market/deli next to the public boat launch where we had a large breakfast sandwich and coffee for less than $5. SeaWorld is very close, you could easily walk, but the hotel offers a free shuttle service, so you can save your walking for the park.

Beds were uncomfortable. I did not like the slate floor - it was cold and rough. The bathroom had no heating - made bathing uncomfortable. There was not even a heat lamp! The bathroom door was shuttered sliding, therefore there was little privacy, and noise went right through. Otherwise, we liked it. The view from our room was spectacular - we loved that, and the beautiful big lawn with views of the bay, boats and marina nearby. Having a place for my 3 year old to run, right outside our window was fabulous!

Unfortunately, every time I needed assisstance such as direction clarification or help setting up a day trip, the front desk staff was of no use.I received conflicting information on tour bus dates, I was told that the concierge would be in at 8:00 am and he did not come in until 11:30am. The cab quote was $18.00, bot when she ordered the cab she was told that the prices had increased as of two weeks prior. When I called to ask if I turn right or left from the exit at sea world to get to the hotel 2 miles away she did not know. I am sorry to say that the front desk staff made the trip more stressful than easy.

Stayed in deluxe bay view room-very nice. Lots of kids for our 5 y.o. to play with in the pool. Multiple weddings on weekend so pretty full, but quiet during week. Definitely need a car if you want to get away from hotel. Ate breakfast at Blue Pearl everyday - food good, but not so hot on service - almost impossible to get a glass of water or coffee refills. Room service ranged from very slow to almost immediate delivery. Great poolside service. Yummy margaritas and appetizers at Firefly.
