| I went to The NewYorker for the weekend and it was a terrific experience. Granted they are making renovations so the hallways do not have the best appearance, but the room was extremly comfortable. We stayed in the queen plaza suite and the room was very spacious with TWO bathrooms! We also got a free continental breakfast with this room in the skyline tower and the food was very good but the view was even better!I would definatly reccomend this hotel to anyone staying in New York!!!!

| Once in the halls and rooms above the grand entrance lobby (which is very impressive), everything seems dark, dirty and grimy. However, walking distance from Penn Station is pretty important for some business.

| I live in the city and therefore used to the exhornitant prices of living here. I have to say this is my first time in a nyc hotel and had to chooses between the new yorker and hotel penn. After reading the reviews on hotel penn i chose to stay here instead, only two blocks away from hotel penn, it was cheaper and everything was to be expected from a bargain ny hotel. It was tight , almost no room to move, (i didnt mind it and was to be expected), shampoo, soap, no toothbrush or toothpaste, here is the rundown: Plus: I thought it would be a typical "chain" hotel but it was really nothing like a ramada, it was nicely designed outside with the whole "NEW YORKER" theme. Cheapest hotel in the penn station area. It had a bathtub which i liked. Wake up call right on time. Cons: check in staff sort of rude and snobbish (maybe because of my age), everybody else was courteous, rooms could have been a bit cleaner, ( i found some stains under the sheets), Pricey b/c check in was 3pm and check out was 12 afternoon, thats less than 24 hours, is that common? All in all i liked this hotel a lot, it was right across the street from a movie theater and close to nyc activity central, 10 minute walk to times square.

| The room Lock Code was changed on the 2nd day 0f my stay and I could not open the door of my room. When I contacted the emergency they in turn asked me to go to the Desk. I had to stand in quee and wait for getting my room code changed. This is not expected. Hotel staff should have come and arranged to open the door of my room. For no fault of me I and my wife had to stay out of my room which is very bad

| This hotel is inexpensive (compared to other NYC hotels) but comfortable and a great find. Our room was surprisingly big, we had a standard suite. It was a great location and the staff was very helpful. The diner in the hotel was great (great food and cheap). The only downside to this hotel is the hallways on the way to the room. They are in dire need of renovation, but the room is awesome. Also be prepared, the AC is motion sensored and goes off many times during the night, but if you do a little jig in front of it, the AC kicks back on and quickly cools the room. Great Hotel!!!

| This is an excellent hotel located in the heart of NYC. I booked a room there mostly because the price was extremely reasonable, but the service was fantastic and check-in/check-out was speedy. The doorman was friendly, and the valet parking was problem free, even at 4:30 in the afternoon...kind of a busy time on a Friday ;). The rooms are small, and the hotel is old, but it's very charming and has a lot of character. If you are a fussy traveler, the New Yorker probably isn't for you. But if you need a clean room for a great price in a SUPER location in NYC, the New Yorker is IT.

| I'm biased, since after the currency exchange, staying a night at the New Yoker was quite expensive. However, after looking around in manhattan, and taking into account my travel experience, it does feel appropriately priced for the location and services rendered. To be expected, the room is small - but it is functional. Regarding the physical layout of the room, my only peeve is that you might be able to see into/be seen from the other rooms in the same floor, but this is nothing blinds don't fix. I would recommend it as a stay over for singles or young travellers. I do not believe it is well suited for family travellers. Overall, a good place to stay.

| When I think New York, I think Closet size hotel rooms, bunk beds and community bathrooms. This hotel wasn't the most modern, but it got the job done without any complaints. I went to NEw York to visit a friend and of course to tour the City. I didn't go to spend my days in the room, so all I needed was a place for bags and a bed. The bed wasn't as comfy asd my bed, but I didn't wake up with a crick in my neck either. It had a tv, closet, quuen size bed, awesome view (i was on the 32nd floor)and most important my own bathroom! I would definately recommend this hotel especially at the price! Oh and it's a perfct location!!!! Corner of 8th Ave and 34th Street. couple of blocks from Empire State, Couple from Madison Square a few from Grand Central and Times Square! I had a blast!

| It is an old hotel, renovated already several years ago. Location is very convinient. In the sommer the aircondition in the room is a problem. You can either have cool air or you can sleep. The unit is inside of the room and very noisy when turned on. For NY standards it is a good price/comfort ratio. For business travellers it is not very well suited - there is no internet in the room (but they are working on it). In general it is OK but nothing special.

| My wife and I stayed here for two days. The location is very good, it's in the heart of Manhattan. However, the hotel seems like it was last renovated back in 1960, everything looks old and worn out. The room was clean but extremely small; we streched out our arms and were able to touch the walls (literally). If you are like us who only went to New York to walk around shop and be in the street all day than I would recommend the hotel. If your looking for elegance and spaciousness, look somewhere else, the location is worh it though.

| The Hotel, located directly across 8th Ave from Madison Square Garden (Penn Station-AMTRAK), is conveniently located and was priced right for my mid-week stay. The hotel is currently under renovation and some the outside hallways are still waiting for new paint and carpeting. The room was very clean with a great view of the Hudson river, albeit small. But, I would stay there again anytime.

| A little bit pricier than the "cheapast" hotels, but totally worth it. I stayed there with my parents, and luckily our room had 2 queen beds and 2 bathrooms! It was such a luxury. The breakfast room on 39th floor was also very nice, it has a great view, don't forget to try. The room did not have coffee machine and hair dryer but as soon as I called housekeeping, they brought these immediately. I stayed there in May 06, and had no issue with heating/or AC, we needed none, but I read reviews about that problem. It is right across from the metro station, so it was very convenient, too. Great location...

| In a hurry, I had my summer intern make a last-minute reservation for me for "something reasonable. . . near(ish) Penn Station" and left it at that. Shame on me, I should have known better after travel/work in NYC over the years. The hotel is old, tired, and the hallways are a DUMP. The rooms are tiny (surprise, it's Manhattan), but they are likewise tired. Brilliant placement of the toilet paper *behind* the door by the way. But hey, it was cheapish and the location is top notch for business Midtown. Nonetheless, I still checked out early. Good for college kids or those on a budget. And the 24 diner is a bonus as well. On the plus side, the staff was actually very cool. They worked far above the level of the hotel. The manager on duty was just great, the bellman helpful, and when I called for an iron, a sweet maid had it there in under five minutes. Four-star service in a two-star (trending downward) hotel.

| This hotel is in a central location. Short walk to Times Square, Chelsea and the Empire State Building. Penn Station, Madison Square Garden and a 24 hour Rite-Aid is across the street. Subway (A,C,E) is on the corner. Safe, well lit area. Standard Room is a good size short term but I would take the one-bedroom suite for longer stays. Less street noise on the higher floors and there are lots of express elevators. Friendly, competant staff.
