| Though the facility is a bit older overall I thought it was a nice place to stay. Free continental breakfast, wireless internet access and generally clean. In our room the bathroom door (a sliding door) latch was broken, 1 of 3 lights in the bathroom was bad (they fixed that) and the tub had a 3" crack in it that was glued together. TV was smallish. Overall a 2.5/4.

| This is a picturesque and even quaint hotel. The hotel sites on a fairly large site and the grounds are safe and very attractive for strolling about. The front desk staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Many guests are connected with the Claremont Colleges- prospective students and parents, visitors to the schools, etc. The hotel is in the process of upgrading. Many of the rooms are older and do need some 'refreshing.' However, the grounds are beautiful, the location is very convenient. We have stayed there three times in the past year and would return in a heartbeat!

| Perhaps an obvious place to stay (price, location) for parents of students or prospective students of one of the Claremont Colleges, the Claremont Inn is, behind its Tudor facade, quite down at its heels. Our room in the wing to the west of the main building was something out of a sleazy crime novel, circa 1966, with strange lumps under the carpet, layers of caulk along the shower, and a thin door with a loose deadbolt into the adjoining room. Not good, when you're already stressed about your child's choice of college and how much influence you should exert.

| The hotel is in poor shape. I described it to a colleague as 4 stars circa 1957. Now it seems like a real estate play ...a great way to land bank a piece of attractive real estate. One oddity...they ran the cables and wires for the room under a very thin carpet so if you walk in your bare feet...or even in street shoes, you can feel the bumps in the carpet.
