| The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous. It is well landscaped and manicured. The pool and beach areas are great with poolside service. The rooms are very nice, but could use some small upgrades. The rooms were very clean. There are 5-6 restaurants on the grounds so you do not have to travel if you do not want to. Some food is better than others but all are adequate. The golf and tennis facitlities are very nice too. Hotel personnel was friendly and accomodating. Small casino in the hotel. Free shuttle service to airport. If you want to go to old San Juan you will need a car. Visit concierge for day trips.

| Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the stay. Best if you want a short stay and dont plan to go outside the facility much. Nice beach and pools and kids activity. Golf for adults. Food is expensive and not a whole lot outside the resort. Go there if you plan on using resort activities and not going out.

| My wife and I spend 3 nights in April 2006 in the Westin Rio Mar and the overall experience was just satisfactory. We don't golf, which is one of the biggest attractions of the hotel, but we enjoyed the pool, the beautiful beach and the green areas. But, I expected a little more for what you pay in this hotel. The employees were not attentive, specially in the dinning areas. In one of their restaurants, the first night the appetizers were cold and the second night the couple of plates took longer than an hour to get. The breakfast buffet cost $19 per person and is not as great as you would expect. I requested a King size bed and got two full size beds. Check-in took also a while, and one of my friends had to wait over half hour to get their room ready.

| A beautiful hotel and westin comfortable. The staff offers totally mediocre service but at least they do so with a smile. For ex. when I asked the concierge if we can go to a particular restaurant in bathing suits, the answer was "absolutely". When we got to the restaurant, the waiter told us we couldnt be seated if our suits were wet or damp. I made a dinner reservation at 4:30 pm for a 6:30 seating that evening and when we arrived, they had no record of it and made us wait for 5 minutes while the waiters consulted in a bascially empty restaurant. Our rooms werent ready at 3pm check in because the people who had "our" rooms opted for late check out. Its basically one little thing after another but 1 doesnt go to PR for stellar service. Oh yeah, food is only fair and not cheap.

| My husband and I stayed at the Westin 12/18-12/22 for our anniversary. The hotel is off from the main road, so rent a car. If you stay at this hotel, please save before you go. It is expensive. You will pay for one to eat what you would normally pay for two. The beach and pool area are nice and clean, but if you don't play golf it's not much else to do, but relax.

| This place is great if you wnat everything at your fingertips. Grounds and common areas are top rate. Halls and bathrooms need to be updated. Service is great but food is overpriced. This is a great family spot because the kids can walk from the hotel to the pool or beach and never be out of site.

| Initially, the Westin Rio Mar met all of our expectations. However, the quality of the food and restaurants left much to be desired. If I am going to pay $13 for a chicken ceaser salad, I expect to have it properly served and not have to use plastic utensils while sitting down at the restaurant. Disgusting. Unfortunately, the quality of the food in the immediate environs is also poor. In addition, the conceirge was completely unhelpful. He told us that the drive the Old San Juan was 30 minutes when there is NO WAY anyone, except maybe Schumacher, could make it in that time with the obvious traffic. It takes about an hour to get to Old San Juan. In addition, the conceirge was completely unhelpful when it came to providing other dining ideas that did not include the Westin restaurants (3 of the 12 were only open while we were there in December!).

| My experience at the hotel was generally very nice and comfortable. However the rooms could use some repairs (which they seem to be doing a little bit aggressively). While I was at the hotel for a four day stay I was called by maintenance insisting that I change my room because they needed to repair it. My wife complained and they decided to replace the peeling ceiling paint after we left. Drive to San Yuan is a bit much approx. 40 min with traffic. Grounds are beautiful including the pool and beach. Kosher food is very expensive at hotel about $45 for an airline meal (Meal Mart).

| This hotel is beautiful, with two great pools, immediate access to the beach, landscaping, a large number of restaurant choices and a high quality of service. The only thing I would strongly recommend is that if you like to get out explore and in particular to have good local food, you will absolutely need a rental car. If you have it, your weekend will be complete. You can go to other nearby beaches, visit El Yunque rain forest within minutes, get to Old San Juan in just 45 minutes and explore many excellent local places to eat, including Antojitos, an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant, just a few minutes drive from the hotel (but not walkable).

| We have had great experience both times. Beautiful setting, high quality hotel right on the beach. Quite close to the rain forest. Very relaxing. The hotel staff is excellent. However, if you want to be near the hustle and bustle of the city, restaurants and attractions, then this may not be the place for you. Even with a rental car, due to traffic, it takes at between 45 min - 1 hour to get to San Juan.

| We arrived at the airport and the friendly staff was waiting for us although we had not registered for airport transportation. Great! The resort is beautiful. We checked in /confirmed that we had an ocean view. Our 3rd floor room gave us a view of the ocean if you knelt down on the floor and leaned to the right! I went to the desk and was told that technically, we had an ocean view.I explained I was celebrating my birthday and my best friend was celebrating her first trip outside of the US. We were moved to a room on the 7th floor. The view was AMAZING! We looked directly at the beach/ocean but we couldn't breathe because the room smelled like an ashtray. The staff member neglected to tell us that the room was reserved for smokers. With teary eyes and gags, we met housekeeping staff who within minutes of seeing our demise arrived with a little box that removed all evidence of nicotine in 45 minutes !!! Who knew there was such a device? Once the room was aired out...I saw several stains on the duvet cover on my bed. Within seconds, housekeeping appeared with a new duvet-also stained !!! Finally...we got a brand new duvet/sheet set up. Combined with a spritz of Victoria's Secret Body spray, our room smelled like heaven and we slept heavenly on those beds! The rest of our stay was wonderful. We recieved a complimentary lunch because of the room situation. The casino staff, buffet breakfast, sushi restaurant, pool area, beach and spa were all wonderful.

| Westing Rio Mar is a great resort offering live entertainments and comfort. It has nice private beach, pools and jacuzzi. With the ultimate comfort of Heavenly Beds, it is worth to stay there. Only negativity is that the location is a bit far. It's not the distance makes it far, but the heavy traffic. Definately you need a rental car. But it is located in a quiet area, so if you like to keep away from the touristy spots, you will like there.

| The hotel and surroundings were beautiful, great views of the rainforest. However, most of the food and drinks were overpriced. Don't eat at the Italian restaurant, it's awful, but the Grille Room is great. If you can, try to go all-inclusive unless you can afford $9 drinks. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Plan on renting a car if you want to venture outside the hotel, nothing is within walking distance and taxis are very expensive. Cheaper to rent a car. Overall good vacation experience.

| This Hotel is beautiful, and it you get great service. I only have two gripes. (1) There seemed to be a lack of good nightime entertainment. You are o.k. if you like Casinos, but I am not a gambler and there were not too many other options; (2) The hotel was situated pretty far from the rest of rio grande. You needed to a taxi just to get anywhere. One last thing - don't come here if you are expecting a white sand beach - you are not going to get one.
