| It's an old building and elevators are not in the best working order. The hotel has old charm and the location is great. Across the street from grand central terminal entrance. Hotel staff was very nice and accomodating when possible. I would certainly stay here again.

| As long as you can get a reduced room rate from one of the net's budget services, Roosevelt is a good buy. Just two blocks from Grand Central Station (and a subway stop, right on a bus line, six blocks from Times Square, and a reasonable cab ride uptown or downtown, it's a great center for "doing" NYC. The bargain-priced rooms are smallish, but very well kept and furnished; the lobby is gorgeous. Just don't buy your meals or drinks in the hotel!

| The hotel is in a great location. It's a very busy hotel so the wait for the elevator can be very long. But it's a minor inconvenience for the location. It's also in a relatively quiet spot. My room was on the 3rd floor and the outside noise wasn't bad at all.

| Conveniently located on 45th Street and Madison the Rooosevelt oozes old style splendour and grandeur lost by modern hotel chains. Staff are courteous and friendly and the hotel facilities are excelelnt. Like most old hotels it could do with a face lift but then again couldn't we all!

| The hotel was in a great location, attractive and clean. The rooms were nice and large which can sometimes be hard to find in NYC. My one big complaint was that I had to wait 30 minutes to get an elevator down to the lobby the morning of checkout and then the elevator was so packed that I was scared it would break! I had to wait another 20 minutes to check in luggage. Nice hotel for price but allow time to wait!

| My daughter and I stayed in a double room. Its size was decent by NY standards. The hotel was clean. We got excellent, quick service from housekeeping. The hotel staff made great suggestions for dinner when we told them what we were interested in eating. The location of the Roosevelt was perfect; very close to Grand Central, and Fifth Ave.,and just a few blocks over from Times Square. I will definitely stay there again.

| My wife and I stayed at this hotel during a recent visit to New York City. It was a nice hotel in a great location. The lobby was very fancy and a large, fresh flower arrangement greeted us as we endered and exited the hotel through the main lobby. Very nice! Now the negative. The shower had a significant amount of mold and mildew on the tile (can't you just bleech that... sloppy I thought) The room was small but comfortable. The bed was nothing special (not pillow top or anything but was decent). The room was old but was fairly clean minus the bathroom. The bathroom wasn't big enough to change your mind in let alone anything else. Didn't interact with hotel staff at all besides check in. In all I described it as a budget hotel room in a fancy hotel and great location. I would stay there again but I would expect a better price.

| This hotel was absolutely beautiful - georgous old world charm. The staff and service was outstanding. My only problems were the small room and the mattress on one of the beds looked (and felt) like it was broken in the middle. I never asked for a new mattress, but stuffed pillows between the mattress and box springs instead. Other than this, I loved the hotel!!!

| The Roosevelt was a beautiful hotel with a great location. We had a wonderful time there. Our room was twice the size of the last hotel I stayed at in NYC. We had a huge walk-in closet and a view of Madison Ave. Our second room there was on a corner and it had three windows. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. I'll certainly go back.

| The hotel was exactly what we expected and more. Great location in Midtown Manhattan, close to everything, including transportation for those places too far to walk. Felt safe at all times. The room advertised as "compact" was larger than expected and well serviced. Only problem we noted was the bottom sheet would not stay tucked and should be fitted. Hotel staff very accommodating.

| When my boyfriend and I arrived we were given a second look before we were asked if we were guests when our answer was yes, our bags were taken immediately, check in was prompt and we were led to our room which was small by New York standards. Regardless, service was great! my request for towels were immediate, the Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was awesome, presentation was out of a cook book. The bartender on Sunday 06/18/06 @ noon was just great! I broke up with my boyfriend that afternoon and while I waited for my friends and without knowing my troubles the bartender saw that I was sad and did the best to cheer me up....he was very respectful and funny....let him know he made my afternoon. Beautiful Lobby!

And of course 5th Ave. shopping. Room service is a bit pricey but resturants are all around. The rooms are a bit small, but you are not in the room much.

| hotel lobby is impressive. long wait for elevators. ate dinner at the hotel restuarant and the food was very good esp. the filet mignon. biggest complaint was i had requested a non smoking room with two double beds and i got a smoking room with with one king bed, which of course i didn't realize until i entered the room. i'm not much of a complainer and i didn't feel like waiting another twenty minutes for an elevator to go back down, so we stayed in the room. also at 7am someone used a key to enter our room only to see us sleeping and gasp and slam the door. and it was not a maid. kind of scary that someone else's key opened our room. but overall it was clean, good location, and price was decent. i would go back for the right price.

| The initial impression was good, the lobby is beautiful and we found the front desk staff very friendly. Then there is the room. It was clean. but very uncomfortable and outdated. The beds actually had the springs coming thru the mattress and had a permanent sinkhole in the middle. The sheets didnt fit the beds. All this made getting a decent nights sleep impossible. We expected much better of this kind of hotel. Subway not real convenient either. Grand Central Terminal is right there, but most the subway lines you need to travel around the tourist sites do not go out of there.

I asked them to turn it on and then have it checked. Waited a half hour in the lobby with no news and went back to the desk. They said it would be working now, so I went back up to the room and found the phone dead. Went back down to the desk and demanded a new room, which I promptly got, and it was OK. Room service and gift shop are very expensive.

| It sounds like something out of a Jim Carrel movie but it actually happened. Check in time was 3pm. I was there at 2:50 to check in my party (we had two rooms). They told me they had no rooms available at that time for early check in and I would have to come back at check in time. I noted that it was ten minutes away, and she said "Exactly. Please step aside." I waited for ten minutes and two other people came up to check in and were refused as well. At 3:00 I stepped back up to the desk to check in and she made me show ID and reswiped my credit card and gave me my rooms. Apparently they miraculously opened up rooms in the previous ten minutes. This was indicative of the type of service I got all weekend.
