The resort was well-maintained overall. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Maid service was patient and helpful. The wait staff was courteous, but the breakfast service was very slow and sometimes incorrect on arrival. Lunch and dinner services were timely and accurate. At the time of our visit, the desalination plant was not operating efficiently, so our water and ice in the drinks was on the salty side. Use caution if choosing the meal plans. Get in writing what the meal plans will cover to avoid confusion since the plans must change frequently. We had a little trouble getting the staff to honor what we were told when we purchased the meal plan on check-in, but they did finally honor the original agreement. Menu prices are reasonable, and in our case, we could have ordered anything we wanted and still come out less than the meal plan we purchased.

The hotel was okay but it was pretty far from everything. Must get a car in order to see the entire island. Not too many options to do at the hotel itself. The food was okay but very limited especially for breakfast. The beach was not one of the best around the USVI but it was okay. The front desk staff could also be more accomodating and friendly.

We stayed at this resort for our honeymoon and were very disappointed. The maid service was substandard and one day when we returned from an outing, our sliding glass doors had been left unlocked and our safe had been tampered with. (We were in a ground floor unit!) We didn't always have enough towels and washcloths and the floors weren't kept very clean in our room. The food prices at their dining facilities are expensive and the resort is a long way from everything else on the island, so you need a car to get around if you want to eat anywhere else. The most disappointing thing about the resort was the attitude of the wait staff. They were not very friendly and the service was sometimes terrible. One night when we ate at the grill, in order to get a drink refill, we had to go to the bar and get it ourselves, and our waitress wasn't even busy! We would not reccomend this resort to anyone and we certainly won't go back.

Loved the hotel and casino! It's tucked away from the city, quiet, with events and entertainment always available. Every room is beachfront, with a breath taking sunrise. This hotel is beautiful, elegant, yet barefoot comfortable. I recommend renting a car at the airport(in advance is a little cheaper). There are many must see sights on the island.Have fun!

We went down to St. Croix for a family wedding. When we arrived at the hotel there was a slight problem. Only 2 of the 5 rooms were ready. However, it was not long before the other rooms were ready to go. Our room was very spacious and the hotel gave us a great group rate. The beach was small and peaceful! The hammocks are a great place to rest and get out of the sun for a little while. The food was decent...nothing fantastic, nothing horrible. I would have to say that the only disappointment was some of the restraunt staff. They would forget to bring your change back and could get a bit grumpy at times. That would be my only complaint. Almost every day they offered a free hour of snorkel, kayaks, or paddle boats. If you are into gambling the casino is right across the street. I would recommend renting a vehicle while you are there. The taxi service can get quite exspensive!!

The hotel itself is very pretty and the rooms are very nice with oceanfront views. However, I guess since this was my first trip to St. Croix I was expecting to much. The good points: Hotel was pretty and clean. Not many people were there so the beach connected to the hotel wasn't that crowded. The bad points: It seemed to take the hotel staff a couple of days to actual "warm up" and be friendly and courteous. Some of the staff was right away but they were not "locals" or from neighboring islands. Service is very slow not just at the hotel but everywhere on the island. There was not alot of food choices and the food there was expensive (everywhere on the island). There was alot of seaweed in the ocean water connected to the hotel so you have to go to another part of the island to swim.

We knew that we would be staying on the back of the island, as we just needed some time to relax, from the day-to-day rush of life. This was a wonderful place for that. To hear the waves at night and in the morning was so settling too. After the third day and one trip, via the shuttle, to town, we rented a jeep. They brought it right to our hotel and we had a blast driving around the island for three days. We even got to drop it off at the airport. The resturant, in the hotel was great and the food was delicious, however, the waitreses were sometimes a bit rude, but overall it was a great stay. The beach was nice, although it had a little too much sea grass and the pool was a bit too dark green, for our liking, but we found some wonderful beaches all over the island. Good vacation overall.

We had a great time at the Divi. The room was good sized and comfortable. The staff there was always friendly and helpful. There's some pretty decent snorkeling down the beach from the hotel and the pool was nice and uncrowded. They have activities each evening: a (very nice) manager's reception, steel pans, movie night in the lobby. . . the best was the beach BBQ with Mocko Jumbies, steel pans, fire dancing- a really good time!

My wife and I just returned from the Divi Carina resort. Had a top-floor room in the newest section which was very nice and well-kept. The mini-fridge and sink area were really a nice compliment to the room and were put to good use for afternoon "Starters" and evening after-dinner drinks! We will definitely return to this resort if we get back to St. Croix anytime soon. Agree with the other reviewers who state that a rental car is needed. We enjoy seeing the islands, not just hanging around the Hotel / resort, and greatly enjoyed Point Udall (the Eastern-most spot in the U.S.), Christiansted and the Rain Forest on the western side of the island. The facilities at the Divi were very good, not world-class, but very clean and comfortable with good service. The Casino was enjoyable, especially with the great entertainment (Motown group just back from Las Vegas). Best of all was the resort location, beachfront with great snorkeling just 1/4 mile West of the Divi and no crowds or high-rises in sight.

We had a wonderful time. You have to take off your urban hat and put on your island hat. No one is in a hurry and there really is no need to be. If you want to be spoiled and pampered then go stay at a very expensive top notch resort. The Divi is definitely worth what you pay for. You have the beach during the day and the casino at night. You may even be adventurous and go check the rest of the island out, but you do not have to if you are just there to get away.

If you want to go sightseeing around the island, you need rent a car. This hotel has 1 restaurant and 1 pool side bar only (both with a la carte menu only). Besides these, Divi Carina is the best hotel to stay. Our oceanfront room with high speed internet access was very clean and spacious.

This resort is pretty far from everything else on St. Croix - you DEFINITELY need to rent a car. Not much on site. Of the people I talked with on the island, almost everyone said that the Carambola was the best place to stay on the island - BUT - there isn't a beach at Carambola. My room had peeling paint falling away from the ceiling. Positives were that the staff was friendly and if you want to get away from it all, this wouldn't be a bad choice, but be warned - there's only one restaurant at the "resort" and there's not a great variety on the menu.

The Divi Carina Bay is off the beaten path but what a great place to stay!!!! Service was great. The staff was very helpful in getting taxis, making reservations at restuarants etc. Big Al's pool side bar was great as well. Every day they had a drink of the day special. Food was great too and only a little more expensive that at home. The staff kept the beach clean and it was groomed every morning. Our room was on the ground floor so we could walk right out onto the beach/pier. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning the room, only problem they like to start cleaning at 8 am. Use the "do not disturb sign"!!! Can't wait to go back and see the new addition they are adding on......rooms and a pizza place!!!!

My wife and I couldn't have picked a more magical place to spend our honeymoon. From the grove of palm trees with hammocks swaying in the wind, to the amazing view of the turqoise water from the room, to sounds of the waves crashing into the beach singing you to sleep at night, this place will (as they say) turn your Type A attitude into a Type Z by the time you leave. We WILL be back within 5 years to celebrate an anniversary. Unfortately, there were a few things we were disappointed in. The wedding coordinator (Karin) really dropped the ball getting our wedding set up. I felt like I had to ride her twice per week to make sure things were actually going to get done. The only license assistance we had was from Julia (bless her heart). We never got the white roses we were promised for the bouquet. The wedding package also stated we would have wedding music. There was none.. not even a CD playing. Divi Carina needs a wedding coordinator that is more organized and cares about what she does. The Buck Island Snorkeling adventure was horribly disappointing also. I got seasick on the way out there only to find that NO mask would actually seal on my face (I have a beard), so water was shooting up my nose. The captain of the boat was an arrogant ass, and the coral reef seemed to have no life left in it. Buck Island itself was amazing.. but the snorkeling was not.

This hotel is nice because every room faces the ocean yet the price was equal to or even better than comparable hotels without an ocean view. We were very pleased with the quality of our room and it's cleanliness. The only negative was the cost of food - it made more sense to drive into town and/or bring/buy our own food compared to what you got at the hotel for the price...Neverthless we had a great experience at the Divi and would definitely go back.

The location is remote, but beautiful. Rent a car. It will save costs in the end. The room was nice and the beds very comfortable. The ocean view from our room was wonderful and the beach was the best part of our stay. The pool and grounds were in good condition. Nevertheless, the hotel itself had many small maintenance flaws that did not affect our enjoyment, but were a shame to see in a 3-star hotel. Housekeeping staff members were friendly and provided excellent service. The bartenders were very friendly, too. However, the desk clerks were immature and untrained. They need more direction and supervision. Overall, we would return if offered another well-priced package air/hotel deal for Divi Carina Bay Resort.

The people were very nice and social with us during our stay. Some gave us advise on where to shop and who may have the best prices. The hotel was very clean and was as describe in the virtual tour. The casino was OK and most people were very nice but there were some that had a not so friendly attitude, about the same that you get on most vacations. The casino would better fare if they were able to get a few more variaty of games to play and also train their dealers better. But our overall stay was great. The food at the hotel is way over priced but the quality is tasty.
