I was just in Philly on a very busy graduation weekend, so I was happy to find a room at the centrally located Loews for a fairly reasonable rate. The view from my room on the 28th floor was spectacular, if you like city scapes (and I do), but my room was dirty. There was mold / mold stains around the tub, a stray hair or two on the bathroom floor, large stains on the carpet, and both fabric headboards were incredibly dusty. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, but if I had, or if I had been traveling with my three year old, I would have complained or asked for a different room. But, again, the view was great and the staff was very friendly. I guegss I just would expect much more from a Loews in terms of the actual state of the room upon arrival. I might still recommend it to a friend, if availability elsewhere were low.

Great building and a good renovation, but in the last year or so, there have been trends downward. For example, most of the upper floor rooms were "not available " over Christmas. Also, sometimes no room clean up til the end of the afternoon. Getting increasingly pricey for the level of amenity, unfortunately.

Overall the staff was friendly BUT....The concierge staff was not very helpful unless you were persistent. e.g. They were not able to give restaurant recommendations when asked about places with live jazz during meals. Nor did they have many suggestions for places to eat with teenagers. The service in their restaurant was poor, not because of the waiter but because they ran out of food! My wife got the last half glass of orange juice at breakfast. The brunch pricing was high for what you got. Other things were good, a problem in the bathroom was promptly fixed and the valet parking guys were very helpful with luggage and directions.

Stayed two nights for business/convention travel. Staff was warm and friendly, very helpful, room was beautiful, even the cleaning staff greeted me with a warm "hello! How are you today?" in the hall. That's unusual! Best part is the bar. Very cool atmosphere, and was very comfortable to be there as a solo female traveler. Made a few friends and enjoyed the martinis tremendously. Enjoyed being able to smoke, without the smoke smell lingering and sticking to my clothes(tall ceilings and good ventilation, I guess). 1 block from Pennsylvania Convention center, neighbors to HardRock and Reading market. Corner Bakery 1 block away on the way to the convention center was conveneient.

I chose the hotel for its proximity to the convention center, its 4-star rating, and reasonable price. I was thoroughly impressed by the historical documentation of the building, the quality of the bed and pillows, and the overall comfort of the rooms. The piano jazz band playing in the early evening at the restaurant and bar was tight accompanied by enticing female vocals. I will be returning to this Loews Hotel for each visit to Philadelphia.

My husband and I were so excited for our stay but when we got to the hotel we weren't impressed. Our room wasn't as clean as it could have been and the bathroom was missing it's rug and we only noticed because the next day there was one. What topped it all off was that we put our breakfast room service door hanger on the door the night before and it never showed. My husband called down and all they said was, "Oh". They didn't even ask if we wanted to place an order. In the end it was descent but not worth the money.

I have twice reserved a room at the Loews Hotel, Philadelphia, only to be told when I arrived from the airport with a busy schedule of meetings planned that they did not have a room for me. Apparently, they had decided to sell the room to someone else. This was with a fully pre-paid, confirmed reservation. The last time, the management told me that I was not alone--16 other reserved guests were in the same position. Had this happened to me just once, I could believe that it was an isolated mistake. But I have only reserved there twice, and this happened both times! So if you like a little suspense and excitement to liven up your ride from the airport, this hotel may be for you. If, on the other hand, you like to assume that when you have reserved a room, a room will actually be available, then I'd suggest trying somewhere else.

This hotel is very nice, impeccable room with exception of possibly needing to provide more towels in the bathroom. Bar/restaurant is a somewhat upscale but very nice, good food and acceptable for business/client dinners. The hotel allows dogs which is good for people traveling with pets. If you are not traveling with pets you may not want to hear dogs barking into the wee hours of the night. I did not ask but thought that there should be designated non dog floors to accomodate hotel guests.Overall, very professional service, nice view (your choice of River of City view)and modern, clean, well designed comfortable hotel.

The hotel was nice and centrally located in the city. It was in a great location allowing us to walk to almost anywhere we wanted to go with the help of a map. The staff was very friendly, and the decor of the lobby very appealing, however, the hotel room was not what I expected for a hotel at the caliber of the Loews. The room was mediocre for a four star hotel and considering the price and class of the hotel, a lot more ammenities should have been included. The spa facilities had an additional charge, which was anything but nominal and it seemed that any "extras" were just that - extra - whereas at other hotels of this caliber many things are often complimentary and included. As stated, the location is great and the Reading Terminal Market is a neat attraction right across the street with great eats!!!

I LOVED this hotel. The location was great, the architecture was spectacular and the service was friendly. That said, I also entered a room without working heat (would have been OK, but for a draft thru the windows) and with a dirty coffee maker (unemptied coffee grains). I would have demanded another room were it not for the view (great bed, high cielings, modern furniture and bathroom, on demand video games and movies, tho pricey). They fixed the heat problem (and replaced the coffee maker) and we were snug and set for the rest of our weekend. The room is so different from a "hotel" feel it's phenomenal. Go here with your wife or girlfriend, impress her with a free architectural tour and then drop a hundred bux on their in-hotel health club's massage. Park down the block for much cheaper, or bite the bullet on $30/day valet parking (very nice attendents). Lastly, ORDER THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL. I cannot stress this enough, get it room-serviced to you, then go to the Reading Terminal Market in the morning and see where they get these spectacular shrimp while you pick your coffee and breakfast from a number of vendors. We walked to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and it wasn't too far, but a cab there or - in the other direction - to South Street is about $5. Really, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $20 a night and stay here. Smoking rooms might get you a better view of
