This resort has it all. Outstanding customer service, everyone was eager to help and I never saw a frowning face. I was met with a smile at every point of contact. The grounds were beautiful and emaculate, and the room was very comfortable. You get what you pay for. The dining facilities had excellent Spa Cuisine, but I felt the selection on the all day menus to be very limited (not a lot to choose from) and was very pricey. The spa has excellent services, and a well trained staff.

Just returned from this hotel, and it's unbelievable. They provide outstanding service--though they should, you pay for it. I recommend taking full advantage of the cabanas on the beach--as well as the superior concierge service. They'll take care of anything you need.

It was a great place for our family. The ancient fish ponds were great for the kids to view all types of ocean fish and the fish feeding tour was really informative. The beach and pool were great. The beach at the beach house has a wonderful snorkeling beach where we saw lots of fish and even a spotted eagle ray!! The sea turtles were hanging out the hotel beach and you can see whales from the shore. The breakfast buffet is superb and the malasada's (portugese donuts) will be missed. We are trying to figure out when we can go back!

This is not my first stay with the Mauna Lani Bay and it won't be my last. The resort keeps getting better with age, from the restaurants & spa, to the amazing staff, to the most unique resort that puts conservation of Hawaii's flora and fauna first. A true gem compared with all the others! This is our annual winter destination spot from the East Coast! I am continually impressed with every aspect of this resort.

This was our first visit to the Big Island. We were glad we chose this resort. The service was impeccable. The room was clean and nicely decorated. There was a lot of room for our kids to roam around in the room. We wish we had spent more time in the resort instead of those excursions to other parts of the island. We're already planning on going back. Next time, we'll spend our entire week in the resort.

I have never left a review on a hotel before, but felt I had to for this one. This was our third trip to the islands, first at the big island. My wife and I did some research before choosing a hotel and can say that the Mauna Lani was an excellent choice. The service was exceptional. The hotel is in excellent condition. The landscape surrounding the hotel is beyond beautiful; including streams, lagoons, with sharks, a variety of fish, etc. The room was great and well kept; very clean. The food is a little pricey, but the free breakfast helped our budget. The beach is very nice. I have snorkeled on all islands and can say the best snorkeling was right there at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. The only problem we have with the hotel is that we were spoiled and will higher expectations on future vacations.

My hisband and I visited the Big Island at the end of October for our anniversary. The Mauna Lani was very nice- rooms were spacious and we had great service. The beach was nice, I snorkeled with sea turtles, and we had everything we needed right there at the resort. The only downfall was the fact that if you wanted to go visit any other parts of the island, it is a drive. But as far as meeting your needs, the Mauna Lani was great and a beautiful place to stay!

The Mauna Lani is absolutely beautiful and impressive. However, it is far from everything. The Kohala Coast is great if you want to get away from it all (literally). It is a 35 - 45 minute drive to Kona, so, you either have to eat at the hotel's restaurants (extremely pricy) or head into town (which becomes a drag eventually). The hotel's beach has palm trees on it with hammocks strung in between. The cabanas are free and plentyful. The ocean is not good for swimming, only wading. There are too many rough rocks and the bottom is spongy in places. Use the pool if you want to swim. Beach personnel are extremely friendly and accomodating. I was not impressed with the nightly turn down service (room was not consistantly straightened). Room service was surpurb! The fish ponds are awesome! They have sea turtles and sharks on the premise.

Although there was a mix up in our reservation through Expedia which made check-in take longer, the rest of our stay was very relaxing. The hotel is near the ocean, had an intimate feeling, and a friendly atmosphere. It is about 30-40 minutes from Waimea which is a small town with some stores and restaurants, 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Hilo and the surrounding gardens, etc, and 2 1/2 hours from the Volcano.

Stayig at the Mauna Lani Resort was just what the doctor ordered for a beautiful, relaxing and stress free vacation! First off, the hotel is incredibly beautiful and unique, the beach location was breathtaking, the hotel grounds were beautiful, relaxing, and fun to explore. The staff was one of the friendliest I have ever encountered in all of my travels. We loved watching the beautiful sunsets from out lanai, and loved sitting on the beach with the complimentary cabana chairs, and being brought frozen grapes to snack on (what an incredible touch of service!!) Please reward yourself if you are staying at the big island and stay at this great resort, you will not be sorry!

Mauna Lani puts the -ahhh in Aloha. The hotel is very open and the breezes that blow in from the ocean make it quite delightful The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and eager to please. Snorkel gear, towels, reading books, hammocks, pretty much everything you need is available right there on their beach front. We had a great stay and would stay with them again in a heartbeat.

This was a very clean, service oriented hotel. Nothing overlooked, top notch! Note however this isn't a glitzy, lots of shopping, entertainment type hotel. I thought the food prices for the buffet were a bit high. You're better off ordering from the menu.

This is a great hotel. First, the employees are some of the friendliest folks I have ever met on any vacation. I am not sure how Mauna Lani pulls this off, exactly. I am sure even Mother Theresa got grumpy every once in a while, but I never saw anyone with a frown on their face. Everyone was super helpful. Second, Mauna Lani doesn't nickle and dime you to death. Expect to pay quite a bit to stay here, but once you stay here, you are basically taken care of "for free" except for the food. The bed sheets and towels were of a high quality and the empty refrigerator was perfect for storing sodas. The room design is mostly OK with a couple surprising flaws. The television was in a very awkward space to one side of the room, almost hidden from the person on the far side of the bed. Sure, people don't stay here to watch television, but my wife and I found the arrangement frustrating. Also, the internet connection was over the bed, not over a desk, which forced me to lay cable from the back of the bed, across the room, and onto the dresser. This hotel is so well done that I am a little befuddled about the odd room design, at least for the TV and Internet setup.

tho some resorts are more modern, busier, and more crowded, the Mauna Lani hit all the right notes for us on our honeymoon. upsides first:easy drive from airport. wonderful easy check-in. all check-ins should be so nice. great lobby w/ open air, etc. pool old-school, no slides, in-water bars, etc... just a pool and all the more perfect for it. hot tubs also straightforward and nice. beach even better. nice cabanas and plenty of room available even with hotel almost full. good water for swimming. gym adequate and then some... room spacious and clean. beds excellent. turndown service terrific. complementary valet parking. complementary gym... i felt that they could have charged us for much more than they did. downsideswater not great for body-surfing or surfing... room a slight bit damp/musty.. but i think lots of places in hawaii are similar.... found out why: coupla days of rain, showed our deck not really built for runoff. but we kept our doors open and didn't notice it after walking in. gym similarly afflicted. overall: laidback vibe at classic beautiful hotel. good deal, i believe, on expedia. might have been less satisfied paying full price, but i think the place was stunning....
