| At one end of Bay Street, where the duty free stores are, it has easy access to shopping, restaurants, the port, and most local attractions. With all the wood and marble, it has an old world feeling. We'll be back!!

| Don't let the 'downtown' location keep you from enjoying this jewel of a hotel. It's full of 'Hilton'service as well as the perfect location for either business or leasure. From the entrance the hotel does not display the lovely waterfront location and beautiful pool that lie in the back of the property. Excellent pool service from beach towels to food and drink service is provided by attentive servers. The birds eye view of the cruise ships entering and exiting the harbor is an untiring experience. At night the ships light up the entire rear of the well maintained property. Live music is an added plus to the beach /pool experience. All this as you are but steps away from world class shopping and island excursions.

| This place is located in the central part of Nassau. It has easy acces to the stores, the shops, & the straw market. Everything you would want to purchase could be purchased there. There are taxis as well as small buses that can take you all over the Island, the only problem is that the buses stop at 6pm. Private Beach is well maintained & Romantic at night. Lots of scenery to absorb... I HIGHLY recommend this Place!

| We booked the King Plus Ocean view room for the labor day weekend. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 and were told that our reservations were for 3PM. So we went over to the bar and had lunch and drank for a a while... Got back at 3 and the room still wasnt ready so they got a manager involved that gave us our room. We go to the room which was a small 10 x 10 room with no ocean view. We called the front desk which told us to come right down... about 1/2 an hour later the manager came out to tell us that the room was the King Plus Ocean view room... so i asked him to show us the ocean.... he immidiatley switched us to the 4th floor (above the tree line) and this room actually had a couch and was double the size. We did have an issue where the in room safe was closed and called the front desk repeatedly but no one ever came to fix it. Then the next day the light above the shower started to leak water... we called the front desk and someone came up to tell us that he would be right back... he never did... and the water would leak everytime someone from the 5th floor would take a shower... Then the day we wanted to leave we get served with a MiniBar bill for $15. We didnt even have a key to the bar! At least they took those charges off... stay away from the hotel.... Oh BTW... the beach.. On the left are 2 sewer runoff pipes that drain directly into the beach and on the right are all the cruise ships.... Spend the money and go to Paradise Island....

| We stayed here on our honeymoon and we really enjoyed it. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The beach was gorgous, plenty of chairs and a great view of the cruise ships. Food was a little over priced and I don't think our meal at Portofinos was worth what they charged but there are cheaper places to eat in town. Our room was average, nothing spectacular. Room service and maid service were quick and very pleasant. It has a convient location and Senor Frogs next door was a blast.

| I just returned from my stay at the British Colonial Hilton. I suprised my wife with this trip as an anniversary gift and she was quite pleased. The Hotel itself was was quite historic. The location was perfect for shoppers and those who want to experience the culture of the Bahamas. I am very particular when choosing a hotel and I felt as if this Hotel lived up to my standards. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. Dining on the island was relatively expensive. A ribeye steak in the hotel went for $34.95!!!! The portions in the hotel restaurant were relatively small for the price. The hotel room was smaller than expected and the bathroom was relatively large in proportion. The beach is located on the harbor side of the water. If you are looking for a beach with large waves and boogie boarding, don't stay here. The beach was nice due to the upkeep of the staff. The hotel is within 300 feet of the ferry terminal that will take you to paradise island; although a taxi ($10) will be much quicker.

| The hotel appearance and location were great. Most of the staff was friendly. The hotel has a private beach located next to the habour. At night we did see bahamian rats on the beach. Also near is Senor Frogs, a restaurant/club which is jumping all day/night.If you are home sick there is a McDonald's across the street. The hotel's restaurant is a bit pricey. In walking distance are the ferry boats to Paradise Island. The rooms are small with a large bathroom but hopefully you won't be in your room much.

| The hotel is a little bit overrated in my opinion. Its position is very close to the main street downtown, good if you want to go out for shopping ONCE (since most of the shops sell the same merchandise), but just next to the harbour and the beach is really small with a costant bad smell of the fluid discharged just next to it, in the sea. to see a bahama's beach you need to go at least to paradise island that is some miles away.good luck

| The British Colonial Hilton was a beautiful hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Check out was at noon but our flight wasn't until 5:30 so they were able to move back our check out time to 1:00 even though they were booked to capacity. They also had a room available for us to use to take showers and change incase we wanted to use the beach before we left. The only thing we had a problem with was the upkeep and cleanliness of the beach. There was a lot of trash that was brought over by the current and we found five or six pieces of broken glass in the sand. The staff could have done a better job taking care of the beach area instead of socializing most of the time we were there.

| This is overall an excellent hotel, however, be sure to ask for rooms that are not small and that have a view. The room that I got had a real tiny window way up near the ceiling so it was hard to look out. Had to actually climb on my bed to peek out the window. Besides that, this hotel is near downtown and had overall good value for the money. Just be sure to ask for the right rooms with an ocean view when booking your room.

| As far as Nassau gos, this hotel is in a good location. It is near the docks and downtown........all the other major hotels are a cab ride down the north shore. We walked pretty much everywhere. All the goverment buildings, old forts, cruise ships, Hard Rock Cafe, Senior Frogs, The Straw Market, The shopping district are all right outside the door.....and they still have a private beach. The hotel rooms are smallish but not cramped, and they are well decorated and the bathrooms are very spacious and gorgeous. The bathroom was almost as big as our room. It had a seperate shower and tub and the granite sink top was about 10 feet long. The front desk was very helpful (didnt even charge me to use the business center internet) and ALL of the housekeeping staff etc said hello while we roamed the halls.

| Best for relaxing on a private beach and garden with not too much of a crowd. If you do want a crowd and party, you can go next door to Senor Frog's and party day and night. Only downside was that their "Deluxe Ocean View" is not as much as they hyped name suggests. Small room than expected, but clean, matteress was old and standing shower not designed well, water overflows onto bathroom floor. Staff and view are great. Food in the Italian not so great for ppl who dine often in italian restaurant and bit expensive, even for bahamas prices. Love the view of beach and ships from window, hammocks in garden and friendly staff.

| The British Colonial is exactly what you want if you are part of the more mature crowd. The decor is classy and the staff very amiable. What's more is that the location is perfect, because downtown is only a block away. It's not too close to city life, yet not far enough so that you feel isolated from the tourist areas.

| We went during the week of March 21 for 5 nights. The location is great; nice view of the bay that allows you to see all of the giant cruise ships docking. We paid for a city view but were given an ocean view right next to a balcony which made us very happy. The room is a little small but cute and the bathroom is big compared to the room. The staff was very nice and helpful even when dealing with problems and great with directing us to all of the sights to see.The one main thing that you have to prepare for is to set aside alot of money for food. No matter where you go, inside or outside of the hotel, the food is expensive everywhere (average price for a hamburger was $9.75) But the breakfast provided by the Hilton was delicious. The overall experience at the Hilton and Nassau was great. We will definitely go back will be making this our main comeback place for vacations.

| I booked 2 rooms, through Expedia, for my family - 5 persons (2 adults, 3 teen boys). They gave us 2 rooms - one room with a king sized bed, the other with a queen. We had to settle for the room with the king and an uncomfortable cot, along with a room with 2 twin beds, located on another floor. I expected rooms with multiple beds, like in most quality hotels. The registration staff was most unhelpful and unfriendly upon our arrival, especially when we addressed our concerns about the inadequate rooms. It appeared we were putting them out. In addition, the bar staff that manned the outdoor lounge was also unfriendly. The room service employees, however, were most friendly. The rooms looked old - stains on the carpet and musty smelling. I expect more out of a "4 Star" hotel. Definitely not a place to bring a family.

| With such an impressive Hotel name our expectations were quite high. On arrival our first impressions was a warm reception from the staff. The menu and food selection at the main restaurant was very good; the clean swimming pool and accompanying musicians by the pool was a daily delight; a reasonably equiped gym; and the variety of sea activities satisfactory. For guests who value the accessibility of Nassau town, it is perfectly located as there are plenty of shops and good restaurants in town. Personally, the only negative impression was the slow housekeeping which could be improved, especially onsidering that it is an international standard hotel. But otherwise would recomended it as a good stay in Nassau.

| From the start there were problems. I couldn't get a room on the same floor as my travel partner, despite having requested it when I originally booked, and then again by phone twice. Finally when we did, it was on the ground floor right next to the band that played VERY loud music until late into the night. The rooms smelled horrible, the bed linens and rug were filthy. The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. We asked for the mini-bar to be restocked for 3 days, and were reassured every day by management that it would be done. I will never return to this hotel, and probably not Nassau. Paradise Island, however, is a redeeming factor. If you can stay there instead of Nassau...do it.

| We stayed at the British Colonial Hilton over New Years. The weather was very windy and a bit chilly. This hotel is the closest to downtown Nassau shopping. Small, but clean beach. Senor Frog's is right next to the beach - strange smell coming from the restaurant area - drainage pipe into the water? No access to restaurant from beach, so at least there is no traffic through the beach area. Our room was a bit small, but clean & comfortable.

| Situated in the centre of Nassau near the Cruise Ship piers, this superbly renovated and rejuvenated hotel is very conveniently placed near the main focus of Bahamian tourism - duty free shopping (alcohol, jewelry designer clothers), museums, water taxis, and local crafts (the Straw Market). The hotel itself has a very adequate pool and a reasonable beach, though if the beach, kids, or gambling are the main focus of your stay, you should probably go elsewhere. The rooms were very nicely appointed, although the windows small and did not give much of a view, so the premium for the harbourside room was of doubtful value. The bathroom was large and granite filled, with separate shower, but on the 5th floor the water pressure in the bath was low. The 'Italian' restaurant surprised with a delectable Moroccan Tuna & Cumin concoction, and an equally surprising Chinese/Caribbean chicken fusion - certainly the best (and not most expensive) food we had on the Island. Room Service menu was not exciting. Both Dollar and Avis car rentals are conveniently within 2 minutes of the hotel.

| Our stay at the Colonial Hilton was a wonderful combination of old world charm and Bahamian elegance. In this day and age of slick, sophisticated Boutique Hotels it is still a joy to find a more personable place to stay. Right in the heart of Nassau it is a stones throw from the Market District where the cruise ships disgorge their cargo everyday of the week. A highlight of the stay for us was the chance to watch the great cruise ships crawl into Port every morning and watch them set sail every night in a blaze of lighting. If I had to pick any downside it would be that in a building this old there is always the inevitable breakdown as in the elevator on our trip. We had to learn that Bahamian time means just that. They will fix it in due time. We did'nt have a chance to eat in any of the Hotel Restaruants with the exception of the breakfast buffet which both my wife and I thought was subpar. Any inconveniance at all is definately balanced by the wonderful, cheerful Bahamians themselves. They made it a wonderful experience I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.

We particularly enjoyed the hours by the pool and beach. Food at pool side was good, especially the fruit plate and it allowed us to enjoy their frozen drinks with less guilt. We will definitely go back but do not want everybody to know. We hope they change nothing. Well maybe a bit more room between the bed and the TV cabinet.
