I have stayed here a few times on business trips to San Diego. It is very close to downtown. Good places to eat nearby. For a hotel of its rating, its very good. The bar is great - good food.

The staff is very friendly and helpful but the hotel has a very tired appearance. First floor rooms can be incredibly noisy -- recommend something above the first floor (we had to move from the first floor in order to get a good night's sleep).

For the price, it was alright. The desk clerks ranged from VERY nice and helpful-- to arrogant and discombobulated. Twice, the exact second I logged on to the lobby computer (Which was a nice touch.) I was basically "attacked" for being on "too long." Once by a hotel employee, another by a hotel guest. A solution to that: have guests sign in and out (At desk.) allowing each a usage time of 10 minutes max. The concierge was knowledgeable, funny, helpful.

Very conveniently located and ok for the price. Unfortunately, close to the highway, but you don't hear noise if you keep your window closed. We thought there was a funny smell in the room - maybe from claening chemicals...

The motel is nicely set back from I-8 and rooms are quiet. Real nice and clean pool area and hot tub. Room was very clean and comfortable. Two sinks in the room was a nice touch. Staff was very helpful on questions about local attractions or travel connections. Had a handout for directions to many locations in the city. Two negatives: the hallway leading to our room had a musty old smell (but our room didn't). Also the king bed was very hard - a foam mattress. With the addition of a continental breakfast, this would be a 'perfect' place to stay. Will come back again.

From the greeting on check-in to the cleanliness and decor in the room, I was pleasantly surprised. And the price was very reasonable. I've stayed in several of the other hotels in the Hotel Circle area, but would choose the Ramada again above the others.

The price is a bit high for the lack of care given the hotel. Patch work was visable on bathroom counters tops and walls. There was flakey moldy spot on the ceiling of the bathroom shower. The location is central to everything in San Diego, and the parking is convenient.

Upon returning to the hotel late one night, there was no where to park because of the hotel bar being a popular place for locals to hang out. Upon notifying the hotel that I had no place to park, they said to wait because they just called last call. I was not too understanding at 1:45AM when I had to get up in less than 4 hours.

The staff at the Ramada Plaza South was very friendly and the room was very spacious and comfortable. We especially liked "The Tickled Trout", which is an older British-pub-style restaurant around which the hotel has been built. Preserving this restaurant, which served a great breakfast each morning, was a stroke of genius. Though some of the prints on the restaurant walls need changed, as those nearest the tables have been splattered, the overall feel of the restaurant reminded me of our trips to Britain. The staff there is great. They remembered who we were from day to day and quickly brought our tea and coffee just the way we liked it. I will definitely return to this hotel!

The Ramada PLaza Hotel on Hotel Circle in San Diego, CA is very nice. They have a restaurant called the Tickled Trout, and it is excellent! The rooms are very nice and comfortable. We had to stay there for a week while waiting for our apartment to become availible and it was great.

The hotel stay was ok, we definately made plenty of plans to stay away from the room as much as possible. The Concierge at the hotel was VERY helpful in helping us find things to do. The room was very dimly lit and didn't feel welcoming at all. Though the mirrors covering the wall next to the bed made for good "conversations" at night! LOL The staff was helpful and nice. The location of the hotel is in a very good spot. It's in the middle of EVERYTHING, which makes finding things very easy. As long as you get 8 East & 8 West memorized you will be fine! You won't even feel like a tourist anymore. :-)

The Ramada Plaza was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Great location for easy access to sights. Asked and received a no smoking room. Good parking. Could not expect or ask for more in a hotel in this price range; about half of what theaverage room costs in San Diego.
