| This was the best place we could've stayed in Kyoto. It's right in the train station, which made travel convienient and easy. The accomodations were very nice, we had a king size bed with a down comforter that was wonderful to sink into after a day of sight seeing. One caveat: the hotel restaurants are extremely expensive, so go elsewhere to eat. Besides, you don't want to spend your trip to Japan hanging around in a hotel anyway!

| Couldn't recommend a better place in Kyoto. The location is ridiculously convenient and the hotel is plush. The rooms are huge-3 of us stayed in one room with plenty of space. Since it is in the JR station, all taxis know where your hotel is-something extremely helpful when Engrish isn't widely spoken. The Kyoto JR station is located below and the building is absolutely beautiful. The staff was lovely and very helpful. They even let us store our bags there for free while we went off to Koyasan for the night. Be careful not to get sucked into the trap of showering and wearing the cozy yukatas! We felt so comfortable lounging in our yukatas that we almost didn't make it out of the hotel to explore Kyoto at night! The only negative thing I can say is that if offered coffee or tea for breakfast in Le Temps say NO unless you are willing to pay the eyeopening 8 clams a cup!

| The hotel is right IN the station, which is extremely convenient. The hotel lobby and the rooms are very elegant and tasteful, with every convenience. The service is extraordinary, despite the size of the hotel. We would/will stay there again. Tip: Ask for a room near the elevator if you have difficulty walking far, as the hallways are very long.

| Super convenient being right at the train station and close to shopping. The staff were very, very attentive in spite of english being a struggle. Learned that you don't tip the bell hops. They refused any tip after carting all our luggage and storing it for us part of one day. The hotel guest services were also very helpful, their english was very good. Was nice to have a restaurant with western breakfast.

| Right above Kyoto Station which is a major hub for trains, taxis and buses. Very easy access by bus to all major sites. The station also has several huge malls and Isetan. Therefore, getting a good meals is so convenient. There is a tourist info center which will ask practically any questions. Love the hotel services, rooms and location.

| I am so glad we decided to book with this hotel. Because of it's location within Kyoto station it was so easy to get around for sightseeing as buses to every part of town leave from just outside the station. The room was great and the staff exceeded our expectations in every way. Just about everyone spoke English also which made it even easier for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Kyoto for business or pleasure.

| I would highly recommend this hotel! There were 7 of us traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto and it was so convenient to be able to exit the bullet train and be in our hotel lobby in a matter of minutes without having to leave the train station. It was easy to make travel plans in and around Kyoto because it's the main bus terminal for the local buses (there's a bus /tourist information office right there at the station). There's also plenty of shopping and restaurants at the station/hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. What an incredible architectural feat. The view from the top of the escalator (in the station) is spectacular. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and modern. I loved this place and would definitely stay there again.

| For a hotel sitting on top of busy Kyoto station, we were impressed how quiet the rooms were. We stayed in a superior room on the 9th floor which had "heavenly" bed type comforters and was a blissful retreat after long days of sightseeing and shopping. Every cabbie knew where our hotel was and train trips to other parts of Japan and the airport were very convenient. Stay midweek for the best rates-weekends in Kyoto are busy.

| My wife and I visited Kyoto at the beginning of our two week vacation in Japan and the Granvia was one of the best hotels we stayed at. The location was a great jumping off point to many of the local activities. From the station, transportation could not be easier.

| This hotel is located right at the Kyoto central train station and travel is extremely easy to cover the city or take tours. Also very convenient to visit other local cities in area due to ability to catch trains. Staff extremely helpful and we were able to book tours at hotel, find a Catholic mass, and get directions to local sites.

| This is a nice hotel, with very convenient location for the train station. However, the location is really not ideal for exploring Kyoto itself. "Downtown Kyoto", with most of the dining and shopping is about 2 miles to the northeast. It is about an hour walk, or you can get there in about 20 minutes on the city subway. Also, most of the cities attractions are north of "downtown", which makes me feel that the hotel location is not that great for exploring kyoto. If you are using Kyoto as a base to explore the surrounding region via JR trains, then this is ideal. One other note, we had requested a king bed (it was our honeymoon) and the hotel could only give us a room with 2 doubles. The manager was very nice but informed us that the vast majority of the rooms were not setup with 1 bed, and due to the length of our stay (12 day) that he could not accomodate us. Also, this hotel has some connection to JR itself, and there are extra-discounted rates if you have a JR pass.

| This is by far the best hotel I have stayed in Japan. The rooms are incredibly spacious, clean, modern and wired. The service offered by the hotel staff is immpeccable. It's located directly above Kyoto Station making it very convenient. In addition, there is a department store (ISETAN) no more than 5 minutes walk from the hotel that also has a groceries floor (offering a wide selection of foods).

| The outstanding thing about this hotel is its location within the Kyoto Station, which gives convenient access to trains and buses, and hundreds of restaurants. The only negative point was the very unreliable access, over a number of days, to broadband. As I was mixing some busines with leisure, this was a major drawback. Room lighting was also inadequate for working conditions.

| The hotel was in a great location, near the Kyoto Station so local travel (within Kyoto), getting to and from the airport and travel outside the city was very easy. We had a great view of the train station and the mountains. Although we were on the 11th floor, we did hear the trains and the crosswalk alert. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
