| I really did not know what to expect at first, but when I got there things were perfect. We got a very nice apartment room with all the trimmings.I mean it is not a luxury hotel, but if you want somewhere to be at access to everything without spending a lot of money Avalon Waterfront Inns is the place. The clerk at the front desk was very friendly and the service for extra towels or clean bed linens was very good and clean.I would most definitely stay there again. But I am from Georgia and it was a very long way to travel.

| Yes the bath tub could have been a little cleaner and the door could have been painted but for the price, it was a great choice. Ocean front terrace to watch the sun rise, have breakfast, or relax in the evening after a day at the beach was great. Room was cleaned every day, staff was friendly, decent breakfast (good coffee)and internet to check emails. Definitely a good place to stay.

| I will admit to some hesitancy when I booked this reservation through Expedia. We were looking for a place to stay the night before, and the night after, our cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. But I figured it's one block from the beach, the price was right, and it's only two nights, right? Well, I am glad I took the chance. If you are looking for something a little more intimate than the typical big name, high rise beach hotel, you will thoroughly enjoy the Avalon Waterfront Inns. We had a room right off the lovely, sunny pool area on the first floor with a very comfortable king size bed, TV, microwave and fridge, as well as a private bath. Our boys had a room with two queen size beds, and a huge, tiled shower "room" with more than enough room for two. As advertised, we were right across the street from the Ft. Lauderdale public beach. We were also an easy 15 min. walk from a nice shopping area with a number of casual eateries. A little beyond that was the Las Olas shopping district, with more upscale shopping and restaurant choices. All in all, I think this is a hidden gem along the Ft. Lauderdale beach, and I would definitely return for a stay in the future. Don't hesitate!

| This hotel has excellent location right across from the beach, nice pool, free internet service with computer (no need to bring a laptop) or use the free wireless service (bring a laptop), free light breakfast, more cable channels on T.V. than you can view, beds were very comfortable, no bugs, clean towels and bed linens; room may need some painting (doors) but what the heck. Price was RIGHT!!!!! I will recommend this hotel!

| This is the first time I stay at the Waterfront. Room was small, and cramped. Bathroom was in poor shape. Internet connection was down for 2 days before someone came and fixed it. Fitness room was a joke. 3 machines and a few weights. As well as no AC in the room! First pool was in decent shape. But 2nd pool in the rear of the hotel was pretty rough. Continental breakfast was good. Coffee, fruit, bagel, and prepacked muffins. Staff were nice and friendly. Construction was going on next to hotel. No beach chairs to use but they did have towels. Overall an average place. Next time I may try a different place.

Only thing this place has going for it is the location..just within walkind distance of the numerous restaurants in this area.

| The room was cleaned daily but not throughly. More attention could be paid to the bathroom; the bathtub specifically. I don't think that was cleaned by housekeeping at all. One has to request a change of linen but they always left clean towels. The Front desk Staff is very nice and accomadating. It's just an old hotel. On the bright side, it's centrally located so you can get to restaurants, bars, shops, etc. in short order. If you're not looking for upscale or anything fancy...just a place to sleep, then this is just ok.

| This hotel is pretty nice. It's right on the beach, good location. Downfalls are that it looks a bit dumpy. A shower tile was missing, carpet stained, etc. I'm a college student though and I've stayed in places much worse. Advantage is that its much cheaper. Also offer high-speed wireless internet which was awesome. Cable TV would come in and come out, not a good connection - but I'm on vacation so i shouldn't be watching tv anyway! If you're looking for just a quality and cheap place to crash - this is the place.

| I stayed in a 'beach efficiency' room. When first getting in the room and seeing that it viewed the rear of the hotel, away from the beach, I asked about a room with a view of the beach. The hotel staff told me only one room had a beach view and would not move me. I later noticed that some rooms have views of the pool and off in the distance, the beach. The staff did not offer to move me to one of those rooms, even though the hotel was not full. When pulling back the bed sheets, I saw a couple of bits in the bed that looked very much like remnants of a bug, otherwise, the room was clean.

| Building 1 of this hotel is "ok". The area is expensive in general, I couldn't have gotten a better room for the same price, but I would have rather just found a less expensive area. Friends were traveling with us, they were put in a different building which was really the old "Ocean Wave" motel that had a no tresspassing sign on what used to be the office door, broken glass on the ground and no security at all. My mom and I stayed in building #1 which was much nicer but still far less sastafactory that what I expected for the price. Entire motel needs updating and some TLC. It was directly across from the beach which was nice and had a refrigator. Beds were very comfortable. It's a good deal for the area, I just didn't expect Ft Lauderdale to be so expensive. A friend got a normal room at a major chain down the road for almost 3X the price. You can go stay at Clearwater beach for less and get a LOT nicer.

This is an older hotel and one of the few old style Florida hotels left on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Right on the strip, it is a great place to stay, swim and people watch.

| This was my second time to stay at this hotel. First time was April 2004. Second was April 2006. The hotel has gone down hill, but the price has gone up. I knew it was a dated hotel, but it didn't seem like the maid service was as good at cleaning. Plus my room (two double beds and a stove top, microwave, small refrig)cost the same as a friend who had a 1 bedroom suite With a full kitchen. Hmmm that didn't seem right. I will not stay there again.

| The hotel was in sad shape. Not at all boutique and quaint, it was shabby and run down. Everything you could possibly think to replace needed replacing. The carpet looked so disgusting we were afraid to put anything on it. The bed was as big as the room you had to crawl over it to get to the bathroom. The construction noise woke us up at 6 in the morning. When you are from the West Coast this is a very unwelcome surpise. Smoke was everywhere outside. If you prefer non-smoking, like the hotel claims, do not stay here. We also found a couple of dead bugs and other people hair in our room. Not sure if it was cleaned before we got there. GROSS!

| The hotel is a great beach front hotel. If you want luxury conditions, it is not your place. But if you want a good, clean, overall nice place to stay, The Avalon is your place. I do reccommend upgrading to a bigger room (we had the kitchenette which was a LOT bigger than expected) and a rental is a good idea if you are staying more than a couple of days. Taxis do drive infront of the hotel often. It is close to the airport and Los Olas and Northern Miami is about a 45 minute drive. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall our experience was very pleasent and we would definately go back!

| This hotel was NOT what we expected. The biggest problem was that it wasn't really safe! The locks on the doors were really old - someone could have been in that room in about a minute. The bathtub was really old and kind of dirty; there were even fixtures broken off! The room had a pull-out bed in the living room, and because my friend was sleeping there, she wanted sheets. They really gave her a hard time about it and didn't want to give her any! We had to ask 3 times, and finally they gave in and made her come get them. We actually slept with the kitchen knives supplied by the hotel BY OUR BEDS - It was that creepy. For what we paid, we could have been in a much nicer place. Stay somewhere at Las Olas - definitely the best part of town!

| Great location. Very nice and accomodating staff. Rooms a bit smal and older with some rough spots, but kept clean, and who cares most time is spent outside in Florida. A safe in room was nice. Lock on doors pretty weak but staff activity in smaller hotel area leaves not too much worry about in way of bad elements breaking in during the day, but the locks and chains are rather weak in old wooden doors and wodd frames. The only negative comment I would make is that the wireless net is available only in the lobby and trouble accessing it there was tough. Only neede and hour for work at end of the day but it was very frustrating having to sit in the lobby anf get a poor connection.

| We stayed from 3/27-3/31 for our spring break and were very impressed. Had a large effiency room right in front of the pool which we didn't expect so it was a nice suprise (included full kitchen and living room with pull out sofa). The beach is across the street and the pool was kept very clean. It is obviously an older hotel but was in reasonably good condition. They are doing construction on either side of the hotel but we weren't bothered by it at all. Breakfast was okay, no frills. Coffee, juice, bagels, muffins and fresh fruit daily. Staff was very accomodating. We had a few friends come over one night to go to the bars and they gave them a parking pass with no questions asked. Would definitely return.

| We stayed 2/11, and 2/19, before and after our cruise. We were put on the third floor in the front building. Beautiful view of pool and beach outside our room, however not so good on the third floor if you have lots of luggage like we did. Remember, YOU are the luggage cart and elevator. After we got all the luggage carted up the stairs, we went down to ask where the ice machine was, and was told it was out of order, but that we could go next door and they'd give us ice, because the same owner owned both places. True to her word, we went over, and they gave us ice. We were much better after a couple drinks. It's a very old hotel that probably isn't much longer for this world. It and it's brother next door are right in between new highrises going up. The property must be worth a fortune. But for as old as it is, everything worked really good. The air conditioning worked good, the water pressure was good, and the place was as clean as it could be for an older place. Overall, it's an ok place, definitely nothing fancy. It is right across from the beach, and didn't cost a fortune to stay there.

| The Avalon is a charming 1950's/60's style beachfront hotel. It seems to be one of the only ones of its kind left on Ft Lauderdale Beach. As a 5th generation Florida native, I enjoyed seeing a holdout amidst the tall high rise hotel monsters that surrounded this quiet and comfy hotel. The check-in staff was very friendly and informative, the rooms were clean and had everything that you would really need. We even got two rooms with an excellent view of the Atlantic. The pool looked newly rennovated or at least very well taken care of, and the free breakfast in the lobby was great. The Avalon was just fine for us since we like small and quiet and aren't hung up on fancy ammenities like spas, gyms, and lounges. There was a convenient cross walk right over to the beach where we saw cruise ships and mega yachts heading to port. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a reminder of the 1950's and 1960's Florida fun. The price for the rooms was terrific compared to others in the area that would not have been as enjoyable for me and my family. I just hope that the Avalon is able to hang on to its place in the sun for years to come.
