| The room was clean, large, comfortable in all aspects except for the "heat". There was no way to control the temperature, and you could barely feel the air conditioning circulating. We needed to change rooms once.

| We were greeted with a nice cold drink of fruit juice just as we walked in to register. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were very nice (the beds were hard, but we found that to be the case in all the places we stayed in Costa Rica). It is close to everything in San Jose. Make sure to get a map because there are no street signs in Costa Rica and you have to find places by landmarks. We would stay at this hotel again if we went back to San Jose.

| Very clean, hotel staff were very friendly, had good free wireless internet access, good free breakfast every morning and the hotel shop was about 50% cheaper than buying gifts at the airport, overall A+

| The Hotel Barcelo Palma Real was a very nice, clean hotel. The service was very friendly and accomodating. It is located very near many rental car agencies, so that's convenient. I was there just one night - first night in Costa Rica - then immediately headed out of San Jose.

| This busy little hotel is ideal for people who are beginning and ending their adventures in CR from San Jose. Fifteen minute cab ride from airport. Pick up your rental in downtown San Jose and avoid the airport's outrageous 16% auto rental tax. Banks + all the major car rental agencies on the P. Colon are an easy 5 min. walk from the hotel. Access to the Interamericana (Panamerican Hghwy #1)is even closer. Good buffet breakfast. Rooms are large, clean, typical Am. chain hotel fare. AC the first night could have been better, but was okay in our second room. Hotel not in downtown proper, (a good thing) but close enough to access all of SJ's attractions by car or cab. Even near a large park across a busy avenue to stroll and take kids to. Room rates and attentive staff couldn't be better. Bargain rates through Expedia. Book this one first. You won't be sorry.

| The Palma Real has very genteel employees that are always willing to help you out with details of your trip. I feel the merger process with the Barcelo chain will smooth itself out in a short time, providing this boutique hotel with a firm backbone. Breakfasts were surprisingly good, they were a great way to start the day.

| We stayed at the Palma Real after an all day Delta shuffle to San Jose. The staff spoke excellent English, and were very courteous on check in and check out. It was a great location (5 minutes from Pavas airport) for a quick getaway the next morning on Nature Air. The mini-bar was a bit expensive, but then, all mini-bars are. There wasn't really anyplace close by to unwind, and we missed the free breakfast due to early departure. For a comfortable night, it was a great place.

| Great hotel! Nice location: close to downtown without being IN downtown. Between downtown and the airport. Friendly staff and nice rooms. I highly recommend it!
