The hotel's been updated, but not much in the way of substantial functional value -- the flat panel TVs in the lounge are pretty but don't make your stay any better. But it's not a bad place to stay given the price and the decent location in Waikiki. It's 4 blocks walk to the beach but just 1-2 blocks from restaurants and shopping.

The only good thing about this hotel was "complimentary internet", although it kept disconnected every 5 or 10 mins. The room was small and stuffy. It had a partition (locked door) that separated it from a neighboring room, and I could hear everything (TV, people talking, alarm sound etc) from the neighboring room. And, I have never been to a hotel/motel room without a desk and a chair! "Complimentary breakfast" was a joke.

The hotel was grat for it's price. I think it should be more than a two star hotel. The staff were friendly enough and room was thoroughly cleaned daily. Room was small but comfortable. In a great location, a block from Kuhio Street, a busy tourist street (restaurants, ABC stores, etc.). Bus stop also a block away, so everything is very much convenient. Waikiki Beach about 2 blocks away, but very crowded.

Overall the hotel was pretty nice but the staff was aweful. No one ever picked up the phone at the front desk, the staff was rude and unattentive and whilethey claim to offer a "continental" breakfast, they argued relentlessly over me asking for 2 additional muffins in replace of yogurt because we don't eat dairy. The housekeeping was horrible as we had to reuse the same towels over 5 days. Housekeeping would never come. The only part I really liked was that the hotel was recently renovated.

When we made a reservation I made a point of specifying that i will need two beds. When we arrived we got a bed and a sofa and we were told that we should consider ourselves lucky - this is an upgrade. I asked to speak with the manager and they corrected the situation and put us in a room with 2 normal beds. Be careful when you reserve. Also, do not reserve the cheapest room here - they are REALLY small.

a/c was not up to par. We left it on the entire time and room never got cool. Shower head didn't work right and water temperature varied during showers. All right for the money though. Good location, 5 minute walk to waikkiki and shopping. Pool is very small, 3 strokes from end to end, but when your in hawaii who swims in the pool? ( except my fiancee)

I was expecting an okay room and thought i really had to walk far to the beach and downtown, but everything is nearby (5 min walk), don't expect much with the continental breakfast it's just yogurt, sm muffin, and a canned of hawaiian juice. We were surprised of our room, except i asked for queen size and they gave us one full and a twin bed, had a sofa though, and a sm fridge along with a sink and plates in case you want to prepare something. Considering the amount of time you'll be there it's worth staying there, it even has a plasma t.v, comfy bed after your outdoor and exhausting activities. Cheap hotel, expensive o'ahu (expect to spend money on food, and activities, along with shopping). But try to have fun, wear sunscreen and have a safe trip:)

If you are on a budget and like the extras this hotel is ok. 5 Minute walk to the beach and shops, so is in a good location. The room is well equipped with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, safe (not free), breakfast (juice, muffin and yogurt) and high speed internet connection (free). If you are on the lower floors there no escaping the street noise from traffic and the hotel bar across the street. The room is small but adequate. The biggest disappointment was with the cleanliness of the room, it looked like the only towels were replaced on our first days. It's because of the cleanliness that I have given a low rating but maybe we were unlucky with the room allocated??

My 19 year old daughter and I stayed at the aloha surf in april 2006. The aloha surf is definitely a good choice if you are looking for a budget hotel. We had a standard room which is very small, no bigger than a dorm room but it was clean. The pool is extremely small, just a little bigger than a hot tub and I was expecting at least some fresh fruit for breakfast seeing as we were in hawaii. Wrong; the breakfast is delivered to your room which is nice, but consisted of yogurt, a small muffin and a can of juice. The hotel is located 3 blocks from the beach and is close to many shops and restaurants. If your goal is to save money then this hotel is fine. If I were traveling with the rest of my family I would and was looking for more of a beach feel experience I would not have been happy with the aloha surf.

The hotel was recently renovated, rooms have new flat screen tv's, microwave, etc. Rooms are small, but our intention was not to be at the hotel, otherwise we would look for a resort. What I liked better from this hotel was that it was clean, I have a 1 year old baby and we felt very comfortable with the baby crawling in our room. Is not a luxury hotel, but it is better than other more expensive hotels we stayed in Hawaii.

This hotel was great. The rooms are a bit smaller than we are used to on the mainland, but really....you aren't in Hawaii to hang out in your room all day. The breakfast that was included was just fine unless you are a big eater. It was an easy walk to the beach and all of the surrounding shopping/sites.

For those looking for just a very decent, quiet place to sleep w/o ocean view, this is just the place. Recently renovated and very clean, the price is right. The included small fridge came in very handy. They also had a small LCDTV. However, the room with the Expedia special air-hotel-car combo deal was a bit on the cozy side. But overall it was a great deal considering the low total price and included continental (small but sufficient) breakfast.

If you are looking for room service, in-hotel restaurant or other amenitees, you may not like this hotel. But if you like to spend your time on the beach, shopping or sightseeing then this may be the right place. Each room has a refridgerator, and micro wave. Room is cleaned each day. We had a great corner room overlooking Diamond Head and a peekaboo look at the ocean. Each room has a safe (cost $2.50 a day) and we could put both or our laptop computers inside, with room left over for my Ipod, camera and other gadgets. Hotel was completely renovated in 2005.

Easy walking distance to main section of Waikiki. 2 blocks to beach and International Market Place. Older bathroom. We thought for the price, this was a very comfortable (small but adequate) room (standard room). Breakfast was delivered to room (juice, muffin, yogurt, and in room coffee). Refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave in room.

Nice hotel. Location - 2 blocks from the beach. 1 block from supermarket. 1 block from gentlemen's club (AWESOME!!!!!). 1 block from my favorite restaurant, Big Kahuna's. It's kind of like Hooters, same concept, awesome food, cool waitresses and barmaids. Close to Chili's restaurant, Round Table Pizza, Grand Hawaiian Shopping Center, and many other great places. Hotel was great, room clean and comfortable, air conditioning worked like a "charm", very nice. Hotel staff helpful, friendly. Pool area kind of small, if you're in to sunbathing you may want to go to the beach instead. Overall rating - "outstanding".

The hotel itself was average, for Honolulu. I understand that everything costs more, especially in Waikiki, but I wasn't expecting.....>Pay washers/dryers- only one for the entire hotelC>offemaker in the room, but after the first free coffee packet, replacements cost abou $2 each>No free parking of any kind. The underground hotel parking, which was limited, was $14/day>In-room internet service was a pay per day on the TV, which couldn't access my company's web mail>Window air conditioners, which were noisy>Elevators with a mind of their ownOn the other hand, I was there on Pro Bowl weekend, so I didn't have the option to move.

My sister and i recently stayed in the Aston Aloha Surf in a basic room and might i say i was very impressed. It was clean, well furnished (our room was large with a couch, microwave, fridge in it),close to Waikiki Beach and nightspots, and you recieve a complimentary breakfast each morning. Whilst the pool isnt as large as other hotels, its a great hotel for the price, and it comes with a great atmosphere. Id have no qualms about coming back!
