| Beautiful Hotel But You Get Little for What You Pay For |

| Both the rooms and the common areas of this very centrally located hotel are immaculate, and the service from its young staff (many of whom are from Eastern Europe) very friendly. My main "beefs" have to do with what you get for the high price of staying here. (It's Kansas City, after all!) First, the rooms and the hotel itself seem to be lacking in basic amenities (e.g., in-room wireless or plug-in internet connection, in-room minibar). Also, it's just a tad tacky, I think, to charge guests a whopping $4 for a bottle of purified (not spring) water placed in the room; this stuff should be, and usually is, free. Second, the service, while friendly, can be less than helpful overall. For example, after my first day, I no longer received a checklist breakfast menu that I could hang on my door for the following morning. And the purified water bottles mentioned above, once I'd emptied them, were not replenished until 2 days later, nor were the in-room coffee packets I'd used. Finally, the room service is *extremely* expensive for what you get. For a cup of truly undrinkable morning coffee, a glass of spoiled orange juice and a dry and tasteless muffin, I paid $17 -- which, I later noticed, included gratuity, but the room service staff still accepted an additional tip on top of it. Again, none of this is terrible, but considering what you're paying for the place, you expect a little bit more.

| Maybe the best hotel in downtown Kansas City -- about thirteen well-appointed and distinctive rooms per floor, so it's too small to host noisy conventions. Public spaces are in well restored Art Deco style, and private rooms match nicely without faking it. The staff are very well trained, courteous, and highly responsive. Great, high-quality room service. Hard to beat in downtown Kansas City.

| From the doorman to the front desk personnel, the wait staff at the restaurant...a most pleasurable experience. Everyone was upbeat, personable and went above and beyond to see to my needs. The hotel has modern amenities yet retains its character in the downtown Kansas City area. 12 Baltimore restaurant had superb service and fabulous food! Cannot wait to return and enjoy the Hotel Phillips again!

| It's a nice hotel, don't get me wrong, I was just expecting a lot more. It's an old hotel and the rooms are very small for what you pay, but that seems to be typical of hotels in downtown areas. The room was clean, and there were no maintenance issues, but the room, hallways, and elevators are definitely showing their age. The lobby was very well maintained and decorated, but that "Wow" impression was goon the minute I stepped onto the elevator. I would say that this is an average business-class hotel, but I would not stay there with my wife and/or family again. The free wi-fi is only in the lobby of the hotel. Wired internet access is $9.95 a day in your room. The "business-center" has the oldest PC and printer I've seen in quite awhile, and I couldn't even access a few sites due to an older version of Internet Explorer loaded on it.

| We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Hotel Phillips. We would have expected to pay a lot more for a hotel this beautiful and well kept. This is a historic building that the Truman's clothing store used to be in. It was carefully renovated in the 90's but it seems like it was just finished. The lobby is gorgeous, the staff is professional and the rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. It was so clean that it felt like we were the first ones to stay in that room. And it wasn't all for show, the bed had a high quality mattress and high thread count linens. I highly recommend this hotel. Oh, the late night dinner we had in the bar was very good (we had arrived late) so we didn't have to go searching for a place to eat. The same space is transformed to accomodate the breakfast crowd in the morning. A fancier restaurant is also in the building that looked very impressive.

| The hotel was well remodeled with great architectural design. However, the elivators, hallways, and the room I stayed at were very very small. In addition to the room size, I was very dissapointed with the fact that there were no lights in the bathroom and the carpets were dirty.

| Within 1 1/2 blocks of the Midland Theatre. We valet parked our car and walked to the theatre. We didn't have to deal with finding a parking spot or dealing with the traffic. 12 Baltimore was a lot of fun, great martini menu, but if you go when they have bands, it was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other. We ordered room service, which was prompt.

| The Hotel Phillips has a very neat and unique design, and it is very elegant. The bathroom is supplied with Aveda products, and the rooms are decorated well. The beds are okay comfort wise, but the hotel is in the middle of downtown KC so the noise was a little high in the morning.

| I thought the hotel was beautiful. The bed was one of the most comforatable I have slept in. The staff was very curtious and resolved my problems quickly. The only complaint I have is that valet parking is the only option for parking anywhere near the hotel. With other hotels in the area the valet parking is free when you stay with the hotel, however, with Hotel Phillips the valet parking will cost you $14.00/night. This cost was not made known to me until I received my check out receipt the next morning.

| The decision to stay at this hotel was a last minute reluctant one, not knowing what this hotel would be like. I usually stay at the Marriot downtown but it was sold out. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is right across the street from the Marriott. An older hotel that looked like it was recently renovated, the room was very comfortable and clean with upgraded mattress and bed linens. Other amenities included a couch and desk, internet access and a robe in the closet. The bathroom was also very clean and modern. There are a number of nice restaurants in the hotel. I opted for room service for dinner. The meal selection was good, the food was good but the service was a little slow. I would highly recommend this hotel.
