| The Dai Ichi Inn was a very pleasant surprise. It is adjacent to the Ikebukuro train station which made it very convenient. Overall the stay was pleasant although the bathroom was very, very small even for Japanese standards. The one thing I liked about it was the location for the price I paid.

| The Dai Ichi Inn is a great alternative to some of the more expensive hotels in the Tokyo area. It is located right next to Ikebukuro station (I mean right next, don't bother taking a taxi). Taking the Yamanote Line (JR), you can get from Tokyo station to Ikebukuro station in 24 minutes. From Ikebukuro to Shinjuku (Yamanote Line) it is 7 minutes, to Shibuya it is 14 minutes. The room is actually fairly large compared to most other smaller hotels I stayed in while I was in Japan. I do speak Japanese, but the workers at the front desk were fluent or near-fluent in English, so communication was not a problem. The staff were also helpful with arranging transportation for me, from taxis to taking a bus to the airport. A great hotel at a very reasonable price in a very convenient location. I highly recommend it for foreigners.
