The hotel was definitely a nice secluded hotel. Transportation service was superb. Our bathtub was slow in draining at times, so we were wading in water a little when showering. I must say, though, that the concierge was not helpful in giving deals. Basically she could set things up such as tours, dinner reservations, etc. but one could easily do that by themselves, and later I found out we could have done them for less a price. I expect a concierge with connections to be able to provide the best prices and times for services.

We had a marvelous 4 day vacation at the Doubletree Grand Key. The staff were very accomodating and at times it felt like we were on a cruise ship. The restaurant was lovely and delicious for breakfast and the inside/outside bars were great. One day after parasailing at Smathers we relaxed by the pool with drinks and a steel drum band. The shuttle service was very prompt and easy to use. We took a cab one night which we were told was VERY expensive but a ride for the four of us from town was $16.00. (Not too bad!) The beds were to die for comfortable!!! We plan a return trip!!!

Hotel overall was nice, beach isn't as close as we thought. And if you want a king size bed you have to request when buying your package with expedia or they automatically put you in a dbl queen. This hotel has a free shuttle to Duval which saves you alot of money. Pool at hotel is nice. We had a good time overall.

Hotel was kept very clean at all times. The pool and surrounding area was very nice. The shuttle service and everyone working there were great. Everyone was very helpful in arranging reservations, airport departures, etc. Drinks and food there are a little high. But if you didn't want to take the time to shuttle to town, it was worth the price. We would recommend them to anyone.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a free shuttle to and from the airport, and runs free shuttles into downtown Key West every hour. If you want to go somewhere not on the shuttle route, just tell the driver and he will drop you off or pick you up. This saved us $$on cab fare or a rented car. On our last day, we checked out of the hotel, stored our bags, but were still allowed to use all hotel facilities. When it was time to head to the airport, the hotel let us use a changing room to shower and change into our traveling clothes.

Hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. Location is in a quiet area which makes you want to enjoy the pool and relax. Shuttle to Duval Street is a great way to go out and party and meet some fun people. Food services at the hotel were very convenient and the food was good. Loved sitting on the open air deck eating breakfast. The hotel has ice water available at the pool for all it's guests to drink and even suntan lotion that can be used. Our room was very comfortable and the beds "cuddly". Would recommend this hotel and will return there myself again.

I have a couple problems with the hotel: 1 The virtual tour shows a view of the beach, it appears that the beach is next to the hotel. In fact the beach in the picture is two miles down the road. 2 Why should they charge 10 dollars parking to park at a fancy motel? Why charge 75 cents TAX on the parking fee. I don't like getting charged for such trivial items. This may not be a problem for you, but it spoils the mood for me.

The hotel is on the northern end of the key so you are a few miles away from the activity on Duval Street. However the hotel does provide a shuttle that provides hourly service to the southern end of the key.

Doubletree Grand Key Resort isn't a bad hotel, but it doesn't deserve a 3.5 star rating based on our experience. The rooms were mostly clean and fairly comfortable but: * The thermostat in our room didn't work meaning the AC either ran continously or not at all. * The room was half-painted. It looked like someone started repainting the room a slightly different color and stopped partway through the job. * The vanity sink faucet was missing it's internal screen and so water sprayed out sideways wetting your clothes every time you used it. * Significant rust around the bathroom doorframe. * Lightbulb burned out in entryway. * Drips of dried blood smeared on wall below toilet paper holder. * Ceiling fan apparently not working. * View out of room was a tin roof that reflected sunlight into our room. * The Expedia virtual tour map/diagram is very misleading regarding the beach. It's 300 yards from the property and across a busy four-lane highway, not right outside the hotel. * The hotel charges $10 per day for parking, which is the normal rate for areas near the historic downtown area of Key West. Most parking in the area of the hotel is free.

The Grand Key was a bit pricey, but the perks and amenities made it worth the value. It's quite a ways from Old Town but the shuttle system was extremely reliable (always on time). It only comes once an hour so you have to keep track of time. Once we missed it by 5 minutes and had to get a taxi which cost us $18 to get back to the hotel. The "buy one, get one free" coupons for drinks at the Conch Republic bar made the waiting worthwhile at other times.

Listed as a 3 1/2 star, we give it a solid 4. The hotel is clean, well run, conducive to a most pleasant vacation. The heated pool, had friendly bar service and a lunch menu. The restaurant was adequate, not inexpensive. A good deli is within a few hundred feet from the front door. The hotel is totally surrounded by 1.5 million dollar 4 story condos. No distant views here. Shuttles to town are convenient and timely.

This place is on the eastern end of the island and far away from Duval St. Most of the staff was great and there will always be a warm place in our hearts for Diane the bartender. The shuttle was extremely convenient. The only downside was that the pump wasn't working in the hot tub. We probably won't go back to Key West but NOT because of this hotel (see below).

Really close to the airport and less than 10min from Duval Party Central. Rooms are great, two nice bars and a great restaurant with a great breakfast buffet. Pool is huge with cabanas and a great jacuzzi. I have nothing bad to say about this place, it will be my choice everytime I return to Key West!

We stayed at the Double Tree Grand Key Resort for 2 nights in 1/06. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. Staffs at front desk and concierge were nice and helpful. Pool and landscape were nice even after a hurricane in 2005. The beaches are off-site and you need a shuttle from the hotel to go to the beaches. Parking costed $10/day if you are unaware of. The hotel provided shuttle service to beaches and downtown Key West. Shuttle service could be a hassle in the evening when everyone wanted to travel to downtown and it only ran once every hour. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay at this place again.

The hotel is very modern, comfortable bed, clean, nice pool area, but too far from the Historic Section/Duvall Street. If you don't mind being on a schedule while vacationing, the shuttles are available every hour on the hour. While you might be able to walk or bike ride, its a long stretch if you are not physically fit, especially in the heat. The electronic cars are available, but some are only allowed in certain areas and not by the hotel.

Our booking was 11/3-11/10, soon after the hurricane. The hotel staff couldn't have been more kind---from the front desk, concierge, housekeeping, hostess, and we had more fun talking to the wonderful drivers of the shuttles. The only thing we could have complained about was no happy hour at the tiki bar. But there were enough 2 for 1 tickets on the shuttle for other bars to keep us happy!

Everything was expensive for Labor Day, so for what we paid it wasn't bad considering. Shuttle service was key, since it is some distance to downtown Key West. Elevator went out of service our first day, and was not fixed by the time we left (2 days later). Next trip we will definately stay downtown for more of the "feel" of Key West. This was a nice hotel, but could have been anywhere.
