My boyfriend and I spent 5 days at the hotel and were impressed by the upkeep of the grounds and cleanliness of the rooms. However, the a la carte restaurants were a bit of a problem. The steakhouse had terrible service, and there were a lot of bugs on the food as soon as they brought it out. They also overbooked the restaurant, so we had to sit with another couple we had never met. The best restaurant was Piccolo, the italian restaurant, until my boyfriend got terrible food poisoning our last night there. SO, look at the food closely before eating!

We went in late July and were met with some rainy weather, but still plenty hot. The adult pool was nice, but the other pools were all super crowded and very loud with kids. The beach was okay, although the water is definitely not clear and there is trash that washes up. The food and drinks were our biggest complaints--after about 2 days of the marginal buffet food and the way too sweet drinks made with the cheapest booze imaginable, we both had some unhappy stomachs. We enjoyed our stay, but I think we will be more than willing to pay more for a better overall experience next time!!

This was a great place to stay, especially for the deal. The grounds were always clean and the staff was very nice. We stayed in block 1 with an ocean view. It can be noisy at times when they have shows right around the corner by pool 1. The air conditioner did not get very cold and had to run constantly to keep the room cool. Otherwise, the room was great and clean. The food could have been better. The italian restaurant was the best to eat at but you need to make reservations as soon as possible. Overall a great vacation and we would go back.

The hotel was good. Polite and prompt service. Great food!!! So many options, and served all day. Ask at the beginning about the times and places for the food servings. Gratuity was included for us, however if the staff is going above and beyond leave a little tip on the table. It was a comfortable stay. The people from all over the world were a pleasure to meet.

Great place! We would go here again in a heartbeat! Although I do NOT suggest going there in the summer... the humidity is just TOO high! The tours are awesome - so dont forget to book them! They are well worth it! We do agree with other reviews that if youre picky eater, you may not like the food sometimes. My husband and I loved the food. The rooms are made up everyday with new towels. The housekeepers will work with you if youre a late rising person like my husband and I. We previously stayed at a 5 star resort years ago in Mexico; and we liked this resort much better. The rooms are not as deluxe as say a 5 star... but who comes to Mexico to stay in their rooms??? We also suggest purchasing the shuttle to and from the resort! It was a time saver. You get off the plane go through customs, get your luggage and there will be a person from Expedia with a sign up for you. You avoid the time share crowd and mob at the airport. They carry your luggage and load it. Youre quickly whisked away to your hotel. Painless. On your trip back no worries about getting there... same thing, they wait for you and do the same thing over. Highly suggest it. It made it that much more enjoyable. Overall, the service, food, resort, pools, drinks and beach were wonderful! Can't wait to do it again.

My husband and my two sons age 18 and 22 went on a quick inexpensive vacation to the Royal Cameron. We were pleasantly surprised to find the hotel exceeded our expectations. Expedia rated it only 2 1/2 stars.....but we all felt it should have gotten at least 3 1/2 or 4. We stayed in the adult pool area. Our room requested on the top floor, with view of pool and ocean and also next to our sons room was accomodated. We had a great room, with great air and and a super view as requested. The buffet for breakfast and lunch at the restaraunts in the adult area were excellent. However when we went to the buffets around the hotel, they weren't as good, and choices and freshness wasn't always there. The only thing I have to say negatively about the Royal Cameron is that they should supply tolietries and have more boogie boards available, they only had 6 available to use. Which were always being used. The restaurant reservation policy by actually visiting the computer room was inconvinent. They should make it possible to get reservations by phone. Also I feel some free shuttles to the airport and to PV should also be included like many hotels in the area. But on the whole, for the price, it was a exceptional value and would visit again.

This is a family resort, not made for couples. My fiance and I stayed for 6 nights. The grounds of the resort were beautiful, well kept, and so were the rooms. However, virtuality all of the pools were crowed with kids, mostly locals, all of the time. The 1 adult pool had children sneaking into it at times. We did not care for the crowds of children, yelling and running about in the pools and restaurants- all the time. The only tranquility seemed to be in our room, as even the restaurants required table sharing with others!

Rooms have window a/c units. Which make noise, but keep the room very cold. Beds are a little hard. Food was average-good. Only one of the restaurants has air conditioning. All the others are hot and have flies. But this is normal for mexico hotels. The property was beautiful. The adults only pool was quiet. This is a basic clean/good a/c property. No shampoo in the rooms. No iron available. We asked for extra towels and were initially told one towel per person. The front desk is very unhelpful. We had to ask twice for extra towels and pillows. I asked for an iron and was told I would have check it out and could only have it for one hour...yet they never brought it to me. We had to wait two days to get a tv remote.

The hotel isn't exactly located in Puerto Vallarta, but about $20 will take you there (at least one trip is a must!). Hotel was very beautiful and the staff was friendly. We wish we could live there! Don't expect the carribean beach, though, that you may visualize, but wonderful nonetheless. We really enjoyed talking with the very diverse group of guests staying at the Royal Decameron Costa Flamingos.

The hotel is on a beautiful beach outside of puerto vallarta about 20 minutes. It is in a little town called bucerias which is gorgeous and has a little market and some good restaurants. Each room has a king size bed which is a little hard but you can't notice because the sun is so tiring that you fall asleep really easily. The pools are gorgeous, especially the adult pool. The food is decent, lots of buffets, thursday is mexican night which was very, very good. They also have a snack bar with guacamole and salsa and chips which is where we ate a lot since we like mexican food so much. The drinks were good, not real strong so ask for doubles. The only beer was Sol which is a lower quality mexican beer but with enough lime in it, it is quite good. Very excellent trip Good price for great quality.

We could go on and on about this place but recommend you check it out for yourselves.

This hotel was great! No matter what kind of person you are there is something for you to enjoy and have fun doing. If you like long walks on the beach or perhaps horseback riding down the beach both are available just as close as stepping out of your hotel room. There are activities going on all throughout the day and best of all everything is included in your trip price. When they say leave your wallet at home they mean it. Of course you wanna bring some cash so you can partake in some of the vendors wares that are around the hotel and in the downtown area which is about a 20 minute taxi ride away. The hotel grounds are extremely well taken care of and the maids changes the sheets, clean the bathrooms and sweep the lovely tile flooring in your hotel rooms everyday! The nightly entertainment is funny and host is awesome he speaks extrememly fast but he does the show in both english in spanish which is great. The shows are enjoyable for all. Don't worry if your a party animal because there are 5 bars throughout the resort that open at 10am and dont close till 3am. There is also 5 pools but unfortunatle no swim up bar.): Basically this is a great all around resort area for people of all ages and tastes.

We heard about the Decameron through some friends. There were 12 of us altogether who went down (6 couples) ages 20-50. We all had a blast. It was so relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and the whole place is extremely clean. There was always a spot on the beach or by the pool - our favorite was the adults only :) There was always a place to get food if you were hungry any time of the day, and the food was pretty good. I would definitely go back, although next time I think we'll pry go in January or February. June was an extremely warm time to go! For the price we got in our all inclusive deal which included flight, hotel, all your food and drinks, it was an amazing deal and we were all so glad that we went.

We were very pleased with the Decameron, especially considering the price. There was plenty of food, drinks, and things to keep us occupied. The staff were exceptional. Landscaping was beautiful, hotel was very charming. Check-in was very disorganized, took about a half hour. Making dinner reservations was a nuisance, we only did it once but the food was excellent at the Italian restaurant. The buffet was hit or miss, oftentimes excellent but a couple of times we had to go to another restaurant to find more food that we liked. Overall, good food. I guarantee you'll end up buying an insulated cup when you get there, so you might as well bring one. We went in June/July and it was HOT! If you go in the summer, don't plan on straying too far from water during the day. We wore SPF 45 for our entire stay and got great tans.

This resort exceeded our expectations. This is not the most luxurious place, but for this price, who cares! The staff were very nice and it was great to not have to leave the resort if we did not want to. The food was generally pretty good at the Buffet style restaurants. The food at the Mediterranean Restaurant was fantastic!!! You do need reservations for this one. The beds were just fine for us. Firm, but not rock hard. Internet was not $10 American for a couple of minutes as listed in another review... it was 10 pesos or only $1 American. Tipping is not required and there was no pressure. There was no pressure to tip.

This was my second trip to Puerto Vallarta. Royal Decameron was well worth the price I paid. The only drawback was that it was so far from downtown. It was an $18.00 cab ride one way which adds up after a while. You dont neccessarily have to leave the resort, but its always good for some sightseeing, shopping and clubbing. The food was good, although by the end the buffets were a little redundant.

Don't think you will find a better vacation for the price you pay here. Have had better food, but it was still pretty good, and you had choices. Nothing fancy. Grounds were kept very nice. Lot of locals go to this hotel, and the entertainment and food seems to be more for them, but we still enjoyed it. Beds were hard, but bearable. Air Conditioner was loud. Maids start pretty early in the morning, and are pretty loud, so late sleepers could have a problem with that. Beach was nice. Bar and restuarant staffs were very friendly. Some of the maid & grounds staff were not to friendly, but that may have been because of their limited English. Lots of kids, especially on the weekends, so hang out at the adult pool if you don't like kids running around.

My friends and I found the resort to have too many buildings (six in total)and an enourmous amount of grounds to cover by foot in order to access your building, main dinning room, restaurants, theater, disco, beach, etc... The buildings have too many flights of stairs to walk up in order to reach your designated room. The hotel facilitates only, "one building with an elevator" which is reserved for the elderly or disabled. The rooms where cleaned and well maintained, however the beds where hard as boards. The Entertainment during the day was "Blah" ,not exciting or entertaining especially for individuals ranging in ages 30's & 40's. Absolutely no fun activities for single people at any of the pools, bars, discos, etc... The nightly shows however were somewhat entertaining. The pool bar alcohol was weak( no top shelf brands). The beach water was grey and not that inviting for a swimmer. Our stay was set for seven days & by the fourth day we where ready to pack up and return home on the next flight out. We did however manage to complete our stay. This resort would be a great stay for families with children or seniors. However, if your looking for fun entertaining activities you will surely not find it here. We all concluded this resort was not a do over!!!!

Our bed/room was totally fine. There were activities by one of the many many pools 24/7 and the nightly shows were real fun. The only thing that we were disappointed with was the water at the beach (don't expect bahamas) and making the reservations for restaurants...you have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn if you want to eat at the restaurant of your choice at the time you want. Other than that, the grounds were gorgeous and if you want to make this a totally relaxing vacation you could and if you wanted to keep busy all day/night you could ... We had a wonderful time!

Note: We were visiting wedding party and family members before wedding date and staying at a time share. Very hard to get in to see family. We appreciated that there was always fast taxi service from our hotel because we did quite a few tours during our stay.
