| I enjoyed my stay here. As a solo female traveler my goal was to have a place that was clean, quaint and safe. The inclusive breakfast is standard continental w/ good coffee, enough to get you going for the morning. This allows you to spend your money on a good lunch or dinner fare.

| Very small and dark room. I booked a room through expedia and fully prepaid my one night stand. Nevertheless they blocked over $150 on my credit card and did not unblock the money on checkout (although I told them about!). There is no mini-bar, no restaurant, no room service - why do they block the money?! there is no way to spend it! When I asked for a power adapter (swiss outlets are non-standard) they requested $20 cash deposit (despite of $150 blocked on my credit card)! I would highly recommend to avoid this hotel.

| Hotel Basilea is a nice hotel. My single room was small, but had everything I needed and was extremely clean. The staff was nice and extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was also great. I was a little bit afraid of what I might get considering the price was so much lower than that of other downtown hotels, but the place really was great, and the location was ideal.

| Great breakfast if you like good bread. Simple room, but very clean and comfortable and in a quiet location. Several restaurants and shops within walking distance and very convenient to the central train station. Only downside is internet access is limited to dial up and at about 1 franc per minute - probably not thebest choice for business travelers for this reason, but a great place for leisure travelers that want a good room at a reasonable price.

| This is a decent hotel with a good location. It is near the train station and in the heart of the interesting part of Zurich. The breakfast was extensive and the prices are reasonable, too. However, the rooms are small and there is no air conditioning. (Traditionally, Zurich hotels have not needed air conditioning, but with rising temperatures you may well need it during a summer stay.) The rooms are small, but that is not surprising for Zurich. If you get the right price, it is a very good choice.

| Although the whole area near the Zurich train station is somewhat "seedy", the Basilea is nicer than most. It is very clean, has helpful staff, and the rooms are quite airy. The train station is a very short 3-4 blocks, which is nice if you're carrying travel packs as we do. The breakfast was fine, although a bit limited in choices.

| Very nice hotel in Zurich. An easy 8 minute walk from the train station and easy to find. Hotel and room were very clean and a great value for Zurich. Very friendly and helpful staff. Step out and walk all around the old town - the hotel is right in the middle of it. This was my first stay and I would stay there again if back in Zurich.

| This hotel is close to the main station of train -- about 5 minutes of walk. Breakfast is included. Near the hotel, you can find many restaurants and bars. In front of the hotel, there is a tram station and it is convenient to move around the city. However, it does not have an air conditioner and you may feel uncomfortable on hot summer days. I stayed there at the end of August. On a warm day, I didn't feel well. There was no refirigerator in the room, which is inconvenient.

| we just spent two weeks traveling in nyc, switerland and germany, and this hotel was by far the worst. the breakfast was just short of bad, (we went to starbucks the next day). there was no air so we slept with the window open, no problem with that, but we were on the street side, and there was alot of noise all night. probably had something to do with the exotic sex shop directly across the street. but what really bugged us was that we were having a problem setting our phone for a wake-up call (we had a early train to catch the next day and did not want to oversleep)so my husband called the night clerk to ask for a wake up call and was told to set the phone. when my husband said we were having a problem with it, he responded "that's your matter" and hung up on him!

| This hotel was in the center of any transportion we wanted to use. Close to the train station and even closer to trams, buses, and taxi's. We had no trouble walking to any place we wanted to be. There were so many places nearby to eat that it was hard sometime to decide. At the Basilea the breakfast was outstanding and the help were always smiling and happy to please the guest. The rooms are a little on the small side but the beds were very comfortable. The room was very clean. Would we go back, would go back in a minute if had the chance.Very enjoyable 10 days.

| I stayed two nights here, Jan 2 - 4. It is small, but clean. It is very close to the train station and just a few steps from the main areas of Zurich's downtown. The staff is very friendly. I arrived from the U.S. at 9:00 in the morning and they allowed me to check in right away without additional charge. The area is safe and the free breakfast is a good deal. I highly recommend it for the budget traveler.

| The hotel is only a short walk from the Zurich HB central train station. When walking with luggage, be sure to avoid the cobbled sidewalk by using the paved sidewalk opposite the hotel. The hotel is located near a tram stop and a Starbucks, along with some nightclubs, too, just across the river from one of the main streets Bahnhofstrasse. The location might be a little too dicey for children, but not seedy or sleazy. The hotel is immaculate. The room was sparsely furnished (ie, light blanket, no dresser, TV did not work) but very clean. The staff was friendly and professional (ie, they remembered my name unlike some business acquaintances), without being too nosy. For a business trip with some leisure attached, a room at this hotel is convenient and relatively affordable in a city that is notoriously expensive (CHF14 for a McD Big Mac meal). Add a free continental breakfast here to lower your costs.

| We stayed at this hotel over New Year's Eve and were very satisfied. It's location is excellent, an easy walk from the train station, Bahnhofstrasse, and other downtown Zurich locations. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good clean hotel that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
