| I stayed at the Thistle Charing Cross for a week and was very impressed with the accommodations. It was my first visit to London and I had been warned that hotel rooms are very small there. I was happily surprised to get a room with a double bed, a table and two chairs and a large desk. The bathroom was also bigger than I would have expected and the room was very clean and well-maintained. The only thing that I had a problem with was the actual location of the room. We had to take two lifts and a walk across a foot bridge to get to the actual room which was confusing for a jet-lagged traveler! But the location of the hotel was fantastic - we literally were within walking distance of Trafalgar and the Strand and it was a great location for a first-time visitor. I would recommend this hotel to someone on vacation or traveling for business. The location is fantastic and the rates are reasonable for what you are getting. Cheers!

| Excellent location. Beds are comfortable and hotel is very quiet. Rooms are large and clean. I recommend that you do not use the concierges services since in my four night stay I had numerous negative experiences with the concierge. 1) Asked for a recommendation of an Indian restaurant, was told there were none close. That is completely untrue; there are a number of Indian restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. Concierge proceeded to give me directions to a restaurant far away, directions were wrong and I wandered for several blocks never finding the restaurant. Next day happened to pass by the restaurant which was located on a different street than I was told by the concierge. 2) Asked to be directed to the nearest coffee shop, was told they were all closed. This could not be true since I saw numerous people walking the streets with coffee cups. 3) Requested a 6:30am wake up call in order to make a bus tour, call came at 7:30am. 4) Arrived in the lobby at 7:40am to be picked up for the tour, concierge said tour left without us. My scheduled pick up time was 7:45am so I requested that the concierge call the tour company to confirm I was left behind, concierge refused to call.

| This was a tremendous find...definitely 4 star quality in a choice location a couple of blocks from the Thames. Located on top of Charing Cross subway and train station and within 100 yds of the Embankment subway station--access to 4 subway lines and national rail without having to step outside. As well, in the heart of the theatre district and easy walk to the South Bank arts, British EYE. National Gallery, Westminster, Leicester Square, & Trafalgar Square less than 5 minute walk. Hotel staff is superb, friendly, and helpful. Room with a Queen bed, nicely appointed, and immaculate. Hotel restaurant was reasonably priced, and the food was quite excellent and artistically presented. Definitely exceeded my expectations

| Just spent 5 nights at this hotel in April. We were pleasantly surprised to find the room ready for check in at 11:00am after a long night of travelling. Our room was in the annex - it was quite small with two twin beds but very clean and comfortable with a good-sized bathroom. We had a great view over the back of the hotel and could see the London Eye. I couldn't believe how quiet it was inside the hotel - no street noise at all in our room, even with the window open. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - we bought our own wine a couple of nights from the shop next door and the bartenders were happy to open it for us. The location can't be beat - within walking distance to most major tourist attractions and lots of great pubs/restaurants just around the corner.

| Just returned from a four night stay. Room was clean and larger than expected. Bathroom was large, attractive. The tube is steps away from the lobby. So are taxis and buses. Right at Trafalgar Square, and a short walk to theatres, China Town. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Great location.

| We stayed at this hotel in April 2006, and we found it to be a true 4 star hotel. Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff was professional. Hotel condition was updated. No bathrobe in room, as with many a 5 star hotel, but we were v. pleased to find that Expedia's 4 star rating for this hotel was in keeping with the premises. Location was superb -- couldn't have been more convenient for Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. Picadilly Circus was within an easy walk as well. Wonderful access the tube, theater, shopping, and the National Gallery. We highly recommend this hotel.

| This lovely hotel is located immediately above the Charing Cross Underground (subway/tube) station, just a block from the Thames (and the Embankment station). The room was large, clean, amenity-packed, and very comfortable. Although there is no common ice machine, room service gladly delivered ice very quickly. The hotel is close to many popular attractions including the National Portrait Gallery and the London Eye.

| We totally enjoyed our London experience and the Thistle Hotel was great. Not the "lap of luxury" but very comfortable and clean. The concierge and staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We only had breakfast there once as it was very expensive (continental breakfast for 2 was over $40!) but there is a Starbucks right across the street. The location can't be beat. Lots of great sites within walking distance and a tube stop right next door. We would absolutely stay there again!

| This was my 6th time visiting the Thistle Charing Cross---while its amenities and luxury are middle-of-the-way for what most frequent business travelers would expect, it provides everything a business or tourist traveler needs (with the exception of a workout room) for a very, very good value. Its location trumps just about any other location in London, in my opinion, if you are visiting on leisure and want to be within walking distance of most main tourist attractions, and you can't beat the fact that the Charing Cross Tube station is right next to the hotel (or under it, rather). I love staying there and will continue to stay there every time I go to London, be it on business or pleasure, or both.

| We stayed 5 nights at this fantastic hotel. Our 6th floor room along Villiers St afforded great views due east along the Thames, and on a clear day we could nearly see all the way to Tower Bridge. The rooms are adequately sized and anyone who complains is probably used to suites or a have overblown expectations. The price was fantastic for the length of stay and the location. Ah, the location. I can't think of a better location. There's probably nothing more I can add about the location that hasn't been said. My wife and I love to walk (despite being Americans!) and we did more than our share on this trip. We easily walked to the Tower of London and back--with stops at St. Paul's and Tate Modern along the way. We walked to the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus--everywhere. If you're not into walking, get a travelcard and hop on the tube or a bus to go anywhere. Take the tube out to Kew Gardens. Don't forget the river ferries--there is a stop at Embankment that can take you nearly every where along the Thames (like Greewich) In summary, the hotel was plenty nice, but you pay for the location. It's a good place to sleep and shower. Basically use it for your base camp. With dozens of choices for restaurants, shopping, entertainment (near theatres) and sites (did I mention the National Gallery is practically next door--and free?), as well as excellent mass transit options, you cannot go wrong with this hotel.

| Literally right above the train station and right next to Trafalgar square, you can't really get a better location in London. There's so much you want to see and do within a 10 min walking radius. We went to Trafalgar square, the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the theater district. No need to get a cab to the airport, you can simply walk out of the hotel and right next door onto the subway or national rail. I guess I should say the "tube." There's both a 24hr conveniece store and an internet cafe within 1 block. It was nice that my girlfriend and I got all dressed up and went to see Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical, Woman in White, and were able to walk from our hotel. Much more romantic than having to take a cab. There's a little side street with restaurants and shops along the side of the hotel entrance, which is very convenient, and a park there too. We bought some sandwiches and sat in the park and enjoyed the scenary and fed the pigeons. We were placed in a smoking room at first, and our request for a change to non-smoking was courteously fulfilled. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. If your main goal is to see the major sites, then this is definitely the place you want to stay. Some sites are a little far, so u might want to take the tube to go to Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circle, the Tower of London, or Buckingham Palace.

| The hotel was right down the street from Trafalgar Square and Lichester Square which will put you right in the middle of plenty of places to eat, drink and theatres for shows. We also easily walked to Piccidilly Circus and Oxford street for shopping. For a vacationing traveler, staying in the area between Charing Cross station and Piccidilly Circus is right where you want to be and the Thistle Hotel Charing cross was a great choice for my wife and I.

| What a great place this was! Oh, not a 4-diamond hotel, but just a really good, comfortable, air-conditioned, up-to-date, incredibly convenient place to stay. Trafalger Square is one block away, a short walk to Leicaster Square and SoHo, and theatres all around. A cheap internet cafe is across the street. Charing Cross station is beneath the hotel and Embankment station is at the bottom of the hill. This was our third trip to London and from now on I'm only staying at this hotel.

| This 19th century railway hotel has had an efficient, elegant update that has brought it into the 21st. century without sacrificing historic charm. Comfortable and convient, it is a half block from Trafalgar Sq, St.Martins in the Fields, and the National Gallery. It is litterally one or two tube stops from everywhere else. Situated between the nexus of five subway lines and the railroads to the West Country and Wales, Victorial Station, two tube stops away will get you to Paris in three hours. Nevertheless, the Hotel itself is respectably quite, clean and old worldly. You can pay a lot more for accomodations in London, but you won't find anything as reasonable for this level of convience. I'll be back.

| The unbeatable feature of the Thistle Charing Cross is location, location, location: in Charing Cross station, the point from which distances from London are measured. National Gallery, Royal Opera, South Bank, and West End theaters are all just steps away. Rooms are a mite old-fashioned but comfortable. For a special treat, request a view overlooking the Strand, and see Trafalgar Square from your window.
