Some of the workers are nice, others have attidues. The show is good at night. Hotel room, was ok, not great, our A/C Didn't work that well, and no hot water, just once and a while. There are 3 resturants, but you have to make Reservations to 2 of them, reservations.... they don't tell you that until you get there, and its usually a day wait. No, i wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone i know.

The resort was high in ambiance, excited atmosphere, friendly and inviting personalities. I want to go back tomorrow! We traveled with a 13 year old granddaughter, the food and activities met her expectations and ours. Make sure you take aqua shoes for the Dunns Falls. The Jamaican people are my kind of people friendly and sincere.

Once again we had a great time. We received great service. Everyone is helpful. The food at the Italian resturant was great, much better then the Chinese. The other resturants were good also, nothing to complain about. We had an ocean front room in the east building which was perfect. The snorkeling was our favorite, so many neat creatures to see. Awesome honeymoon!

Our family loved this resort. We stayed 5 nights. Plenty to do for all ages. The beaches were great and the snorkeling was, too. All of us enjoyed the water park. We stayed in the quiet rooms and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds from our balcony. It rained a part of every day we were there, so the activities were changed to keep us entertained. We enjoyed all four restaurants. If we go to Jamaica again, we would definitely stay here.

We had a wonderful time at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa we were on our honeymoon it rained everyday but the hotel had plenty of entertainment to make up for it and they say in Jamaica it never rains they just have liquid sunshine, the food at the Bananna Walk was good and the Grill, we could not get a reservation at the Italian Resturant or Chinese Resturant and long pants are required so make a reservation the same day you check in they fill up fast, the staff was very nice and friendly, we are already making plans to come back next year with the family.

This resort is less than mediocre. The ocean front room we requested was not even close to the ocean. The food was most of the time bland and displeasing. We never once came close to relaxing while on this vacation. This is not a couples resort by any means. The people at this hotel are always partying, very loud, and very rude. There were beer fights in the pool, filling the pool up with all kinds of nastiness. Everybody smoked so there were also cigarette butts in the pool. The beach was also less than advertised. The sand was rocky and rough. The water was murky and filled with seawood. There were hardly any creatures to look at while snorkeling. This is not a three star hotel. We read all of the reviews prior to booking and should have listened to the negative ones. Do not make the same mistake we did. There was nothing good about this resort.

I went to Sunset beach on a honeymoon. We had the time of our life. Very memorable. Great food at the grill, although, gets old after a week of eating it. The buffet always had good food, with a few exceptions(bones in fish, shells in eggs... daily). The staff were awesome and very friendly/helpful. The bar tenders get to know you after a while, and know what you want which is good. The only thing I would complain about was the ants in our room. Not a huge deal though, for me... I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone wanting to have a great time in Jamaica. Oh ya, the crab races were fun. The art auction was something different as well.. Can't wait to receive the pieces in the mail. The wife loved the stray cat that was roaming around the lobby area also. =]

This was our first trip to Jamaica and we enjoyed ourselves. The resort was clean and well maintained and our kids 4 & 8 had a blast at the water park and snorkeling in the ocean. The sports hut did run out of snorkeling gear while we were there so bring your own. We only used the kid's club for one evening so we could have a couple of hours to ourselves. The kids had fun there, but during the day they keep the kids inside playing video games and such--not something I want having traveled to such a beautiful outdoor location! The food was mediocre. The breakfast was best-omelets made to order. Got into the Chinese restaurant-pretty good and the Italian-not so good-food was too fancy for us. The jerk chicken at the grill was good. Bring your own ketchup! Went to Margaritaville one afternoon for a late lunch and had a great time. Beware though-the cab fare was $20 US to get us back to the hotel. We did two excursions...the first, and the highlight of our trip was the Dreamer Catamaran cruise. The second was the shopping trip to town--too long and boring. Our room in tower B was clean and comfortable. We were in tower B with an ocean view that was stunning. However, they had loud music/contests in the afternoons--right about at naptime for us--and the sliders they have offer no noise insulating qualities whatsoever. We have too many places we want to see to go back anytime soon, but overall it was good trip and nice time for families looking to get away together.

My wife and I just returned from our trip in early May. The weather was beautiful and the drinks were plentiful. My only 2 complaints about the resort were the food and the mosquitos. There is no place to eat a steak on the resort and it is difficult getting a reservation at the Japanese or italian restaurants. The breakfast at the Banana Walk restaurant was very good, but the other meals were average at best. The beaches are beautiful and the sunset over the ocean is breathtaking. There was always something going on in the evening for people of all ages. For an inexpensive price, it's worth the money. I will probably not return because of the food alone, but we did enjoy our stay.

The grounds were clean and everything was easy to get to. The entertainment was nice and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had access to food pretty much all day if we wanted. The room was clean and good just for sleeping and T.V.

We went for a graduation vacation - four girls mid twenties. I felt very safe while on the resort grounds. There are always security people everywhere, but not so ubiquitous to interupt your stay. The staff are all very nice and very friendly! If you are nice to them, they are doubly nice to you in return. The water is beautiful, the beaches are awesome. There is an abundance of food and drink - you won't go hungry believe me! You will be offered pot, if you don't want it, just say no, or ignore them, not a big deal. A lot of people smoke but getting caught will land you 30 days in Jamaican jail. We took the shuttle our last night to Margaritaville. It is a crazy bar, but also very fun! If you are into wild and crazy nights - this bar is for you! Granted, the food isn't 5star, but it's good. The grill is always open for you as well. And there is a bar on every corner. Overall we had a great stay there! Make friends with the servers and bartenders, they make your stay even better!

first let me tell you about the hotel. there was plenty to do for every one( snorkel, kayak, swim, relax, etc.) the rooms were fine for sleeping and the such. as mini fridge would have been nice, but whatever. the employees were polite and friendly with the excption of a few. but really, where can you go now a days and find everyone polite? food wasn't the best at times, but with a buffet, everyone can find something to eat. there is a grill that has burgers and hotdogs and the like so you're ok there. my biggest problem with this vacation was the locals. the island is extremely poor and every one wants your money. to the point that they get in your face. on more than one occasion i didn't feel real safe on the island. and talking to other guests, some of them had the same feelings as me. im not saying stay on the resort your entire stay, but there is a chain link fence around to property with barbed wire on top for a reason. just be cautious. do a travel safety search on-line for yourself. there are US gov websites with safety notices. over all we had a good time. i have been to many of the islands in the caribbean. with this information, i would not go to jamaica again. there are much better islands to go to for the same price range and a lot safer also. if someone is planing to go, i would recommend this resort for a relaxing time. use your own judgement. you dont know if you dont go. at least now i know.

There was something always going on to entertain the guest, which was nice. The resort also has 3 pools and waterslides, along with the beach, which gives you a variety. Overall I would recommend this resort.

A first time for us at the Sunset. Have been to Jamaica several times but never stayed in Montego Bay. We were enticed by the availability of the nude beach and made good use of it. More attention needs to be given by the management to the nude area maintenance however, For sunbathers like us it was ok but for the water lovers not so good. Lots of stones and prickly undergrowth in parts of the water. Be aware that it is NOT clothing optional but being completelt nude IS required which was ok by us. We would return again!

After reading some of the reviews of previous guests I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Being first timers to Jamaica my husband and I were a little nervous about our accommodations. However, as soon as we arrived at the Resort all of our concerns were laid to rest as the staff was very accomodating and extremely pleasant, the food was tasty, there was plenty to do for both kids and adults. We had only one suggestion for improvement and that would be to have an all adult Bldg. or Floor as children can sometimes be a bit noisy (but not so much that it posed a major problem). Other than that our stay at this Resort was great!!! Sunset Beach is defintely one we'll visit again!

The hotel facility itself was gorgeous. The beach however was horrible. It was full of rocks, sea grass and sea urchins. You can't just walk into the water. If you stay in this resort make sure you bring water shoes. The waitstaff in the dining areas were very nice. However, the bar staff at the various bars were extremely rude. During the first part of the week the food ran low and wasn't very good. It got better as the week went on. Don't look forward to any night life at this resort. Because it is family friendly, there are alot of families with children.

The people who worked there were very kind. being African American I had experienced some black baclash in Jamaica on previous visits. At the Sunset resort Spa the people were truely wonderful A gentleman greeted me with"Welcome home brither," when I got off the bus. I thought that was so real. There set up for bringing in vendors on a one day basis was wonderful and the prices were fair. They could fix the paddles for the ping pong table. The putt-putt golf and the gym were fine. the paddle boats were good. The food was average. The jerk was too hot for my taste but that's no problem. The entertainment was good and energetic. The water was clean and there were no bugs. that is a pluss to my family when we travel. For that reason alone I would go back. Jamaican tour does a decent job getting you to the airport and their people at the hotel were very nice. The improvements in the airport were very nice.

Our only problem was that the music from the main stage was way too loud until 11PM. But the hotel was great for kids. It felt very safe so our 11 year old daughter could find a friend (plenty to choose from) and be very independent, running from pool to pool, to the grill, etc. Because it is a Bay, there are no waves, which makes it a good place to introduce kids to snorkeling.

Our ocean front room had great views. The staff was friendly. The food was good, be sure to make dinner reservations as soon as you check in. Drinks were weak, make friends with a bartender and they will take care of you. We were very disappointed with the snorkeling. The pirates sunset cruise was nice. The horse back riding was nice if you like to walk a horse, there was no running allowed. The Dolphin Cove was a joke. It was a 3 hour drive each way on the worst roads in the world with drivers that must be on drugs. "Swimming" with the dolphins was not swimming at all, you barely got to even touch them. It was very regimented and controlled and the guides told you what to do at every second. The guides have the dolphins and tourists very well trained. If you call treading water while the dolphin performs tricks swimming with the dolphins then go for it and pay their ridiculous prices. And to top it off, they will not let you take a waterproof disposable camera in the water because they take pictures and charge you a ransom. It's a real rip off and we were all very disappointed with it.
