The staff wanted to monitor all the time who was coming in and out of the hotel but only with my group...I think they thought we were hoodlums not young executives in the media industry, but they never bothered to ask they just viewed us on appearance. I felt like I was living with my parents and getting in trouble for hanging out with the bad crowd! Even if it was for a safety reason they should have been more kind in explaining this reason...instead they got very angry with us. I would not stay there again only because I was discriminated against for my appearance, otherwise, it will say it was clean and a good hotel for the price.

OK for Venice and close to train, bus and taxi.

The Al Sole is a reasonable choice if you want to stay in Venice. The buffet breakfast is very good. (Eat your fill, have a snack for lunch and then enjoy a big dinner at a good restaurant.) Our room was not as nice as the picture. The TV didn't work, the safe didn't have a key and the bath didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. The staff was freindly, but the front desk never had more than one person working and was always busy. The biggest advantage to this hotel is that it is walking distance from both the train and the bus station/taxi stands. No need for water taxis, which are expensive and slow. Just have bags with wheels.
