| The hotel is in a great location, near all kinds of stuff. The staff were uniformly cheerful, friendly and helpful. The hallways are a little dingy, but the rooms and public areas are clean and bright, stylish and well appointed. One weird thing: there was an intermittent clanking, squeaking noise from the air ducts. Inexplicable. Everything else was great.

| This hotel had some of the most comfortable beds and pillows that I have ever had. I slept so comfortably I thought I was at home. Clean, well-appointed rooms with everything I needed. The Continental Breakfast was a special treat with hardboiled eggs amidst all the traditional finds. All the food was very fresh and wholesome. The location was excellent, located near good restaurants and great shopping and site seeing. I felt safe walking the streets and cabs were easy to get. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. I will certainly stay at the Elan the next time I go to LA. And I would recommend it to any friend.

| Hotels in LA tend to be clustered on main strips - Sunset, Santa Monica, Hollywood. The Elan is nicely located in west LA, and (for those who don't like driving around) is a short stroll to the Beverly Center, the Beverly Connection and Melrose Avenue. In short - the Elan is a great hotel. The rooms either overlook the street or a central courtyard. If you like fresh air, request the courtyard because those rooms have full length glass doors which open. The room decor is great for the price, and the TV has a built-in video and RCA inputs (red/white/yellow) so you can plug in your own portable DVD player. (A huge plus, and something which is increasingly rare in hotels with pay-per-view companies replacing TV's with input-less models which force consumers to buy their programming.) I travel to LA several times a year and have always chopped and changed hotels because I couldn't find the right one. Now that I have found the Elan I will happily give them my business. The only downside is that there is no pool - an issue if you're visiting during the warmer months where a pool is a useful place to cool off.

| You can't beat the location of this hotel - probably its best feature. The room was clean and had very high ceilings. The staff was a bit peculiar but friendly enough. You can use the computer in the conference room to get on the internet for free, which was convenient. If I were going back to LA, I'd stay here again.

| Friendly service, nice breakfast in lobby, and great diner across the street. Good amenities in room for this class of hotel. Only weakness was lack of CNBC on TV.

| As a frequent traveler both in the U.S. and in Europe, I was impressed with the Elan Hotel Modern. The hotel has a fun, fresh modern design style with a great staff, lovely rooms with great pillows in a centralized L.A. location...what else? Oh yeah, they offer a generous continental breakfast complete with Coco Puffs. Sweet.
