Ruben's hotel is literally across the street from Buckingham palace. This hotel is easily walkable (5-10 min depending on where you exit the station) from Victoria Station (Gatwick Express airport transfer & other major trains). The room was typical european - small with a nice bathroom. All in all, though very nice. Would definitely stay here again. the hotel is within walking distance (~15 minutes) to Westminster Abbey & Big Ben. St. James Park is on the way there. Victoria Station has a tube line that runs to the Tower of london & the bridge & other site. easy access to a lot of main sites. A great deal for the price and that doesn't even count what you can save in cab fares by walking to a lot of the sites. European breakfast buffet is included as well (average rating on the breakfast).

Rubens was a great place to stay. Extremely convenient to Victoria Station and easily accessible. The continental breakfast was absolutely delightful with a wonderful staff. Everyone was very friendly and looking to satisfy any need. The bathroom was a bit challenging, as the shower door only covered partially, this allowed for water to spray all over the floor--Be Careful! Overall very lovely experience, would stay there again! :)

I don't have a negative comment to say about the Ruben's. The staff was very accomodating and gracious. The room was comfortable and well kept. We utilized the bar and lounge which were comfortable. We had a late night meal at the hotel, first thing is that we were suprised that we could get at a meal at the hour we did, and second that it was very good. It's a bit away from the night life of London but we enjoy walking and found it easy(and safe)to get around. Victory Station is only a couple of blocks away, with access to any point in London. We would stay here again without a doubt.

Location of hotel is unbeatable. First morning there--no hot water. Broken pipe. They had it fixed the next day. Had a light burned out in our room that we asked to have replaced three times--never done. Small room, but very clean. Staff with one exception was very friendly. (The doorman never did speak to us, but we noticed, he did others.) Our room had no view, but we didn't spend much time there as we were out being tourists.

Excellent location. Couple short blocks from Victoria underground station. Open top buses is a great way to see the city on your first day in London, but the underground is the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get around the city. One block from St.James's park. It's beautiful. Walking through St. James's Park you will see the Buckingham Palace. Several good restaurants in the next block of the hotel. The New Noodle Noodle and the Indian restaurant are very good. Who would have thought!! We love the staff, they are all very happy, helpful and just wonderful. When you're on vacation, the hotels staff definitely an important part and at Rubens you definitely feel like a VIP. Non-smoking room on the top floor is nice.

Compared to the other hotels during our stay in England, this was by far, the nicest. The accommodations were very comfortable, with air-conditioning, and our 'superior' room was very roomy. We took the advice of a previous review and requested a top floor room, to avoid people walking above us on the somewhat squeaky floors. The Rubens staff was there to take care of our every need.

Room was small but comfortable. Reasonably quiet even though room overlooked busy street. More character than most chain hotels. Very convenient to Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace. Also walking distance to Parliament, Westminster Abbey, London Eye, Trafalgar Sq.

We loved this hotel. It is in a great location (our room overlooked the back of Buckingham Palace and we walked to #10 Downing Street, Big Ben and the London Eye), the room was very clean, and the hotel is cutesy in an old-fashioned English way, but what really made our stay an outstanding experience was the service. The staff, from reception, to concierge to bellhop and housekeeping, was probably the most attentive, friendly, enthusiastic and helpful we have ever encountered (and we have stayed at a number of 5* hotels...). The room was a little small (which is not uncommon even with even more pricey London hotels), but the staff made us feel like we were VIPs in a six star hotel, just wonderful. Loved it and highly recommed it.

Hall traffic was loud, could hear people talking and floor squeaked a lot. Good location, reasonable price and a pretty good deal for the price in London.

The hotel was great! I had never booked anything on the internet and I was apprehensive. I was very happy upon our arrival to see a well decorated and well appointed hotel. Our room was in the Royal wing and no smoking. I was not on business but the room has all the conveniences for the business traveler. The staff was very helpful and friendly.I do suggest having the hotel schedule a private car for pick up and drop off at the airport. It is worth it.
