| This was a wonderful, charming and quaint hotel. However it is only for those who can appreciate the old history and charm of it, including the old smell that accompanies old homes. Everything was very comfortable, but again, everything was very old. Definitely not for the squeamish. Also it is a good place to stay for families and for a week or more.

| Second time we have stayed. Extremely laidback, rustic atmosphere. Waimea is a quaint town. Very relaxing. OK pool, beach volley ball, and shuffle board, but you must drive to other area beaches.

| This plantation is not for someone looking for upscale accomodations. It is laid back and non-assuming. It is like owning your own bungalow for your stay - including taking out the garbage, cleaning up after meals and making sure all the food is put away before the ants come. The roosters crow at the crack of dawn and the ceiling fans provide air conditioning. I loved it and plan on returning!Drawbacks include the pool which is only 4 feet deep and you can't swim in the ocean due to riptides, etc. (which is most of the island). It's quiet and secluded. It's on the "desert" side of the Island so doesn't rain too much. I highly recommend for the laidback crowd who can't stand A/C or being sardined in a hotel or condo complex. oh. WiFi in the lobby! (Am I saying too much here? This place sucks! Stay away! It's mine! Mine!)

| The Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages are a bit of a drive over poorly maintained roads. On rainy days, the potholes on the #540 are easily missed and can cause severe car damage. The location of the hotel,at the end of the I 50 makes for a quiet place, although there is road noise. The cottages are charming but could have been maintained better. Ants in the kitchen can't probably be helped if one leaves food out, but water standing on the floors after a downpour is questionable, especially having old electrical cords hanging in the water. When the main water line was shut off to the area, the management didn't apologize nor explain what was going on. Unfriendly, impersonal staff added to an ambivalent feeling about spending ones' badly needed vacation in such a resort. We will consider other places.

| The accommodations are as plain as can be and far from new.The beauty of the place lies in its location and its privacy. It gives the flavor of the locale and you begin to feel as though you are the only ones staying at the cottages. Open air, wonderful lanai, VERY private, roomy.Little or no maid service. A perfect getaway for those who don't need frills.
