Our room was roomy and comfortable. The hotel offers easy access to anywhere in the Bay area. We enjoyed the wine at 5 and the coffee and juice in the morning. Had nice conversations with other guests.

We found this to be a great central location, easily able to walk to Chinatown and Union Square. The trolley stop was right near our hotel, which made it very easy to go to Fisherman's Wharf and back. Nightly wine hour had great service. Location of our specific room was noisy, but otherwise, all was good. Would stay here again.

Vintage court is very nice and the wife and I would go back in an instance. It can be a little noisey, but what place wouldn't be that's on a major street? Only complaint is that they put junior size pillows on a queen size bed. Conceriege service is excellent and everytime I walked the halls I was greeted by the cleaning staff. All around good place.

The hotel staff treated us with courtesy and went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay by changing original room accommodations and checking our luggage before and after check in. They provided excellent references for restaurants and checked on our tours when they were running late. Our room was comfortable and appeared newly decorated. The location is excellent, one half block from Powell trolley and a few blocks from Chinatown. I would stay there again on a return trip!

I have stayed in a few San Francisco hotels and this one fell a littl e short in comparason. It is a old hotel and can feel a little gloomy. The service and cleanliness are adequate but nothing stood out. The elevator very old and slow.

This hotel has an "SF Victorian" environment: thick carpeting, creaky stairs, homey comfort. The location can't be beat: walking distance to the Financial District, Union Square and Cable Cars. There is a comfortable, friendly vibe in this hotel which makes the evening wine tasting very successful. Both nights I stayed, the living room/lobby area was filled with guests, unknown to each other in most cases, talking and tasting. Those that wanted to read, or relax on their own also seemed at ease . It's a great entree to life in San Francisco.

Location of this hotel makes it so easy to access all of San Fran's sites. Just hop on bus (2 blocks away) to ride to most anywhere (went to ballgame and Fisherman's Wharf) and trolley stops right at corner to (Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf). Steep but easy walk to Chinatown and Union Square (only few blocks). Able to walk through Chinatown to Little Italy easily. Lots of good night life and restaurants within walking distance. Liked Lefty O'Douls and Irish Bank Pubs. Felt very safe in area. Took Bart from Oakland airport into Union Square and carried luggage up very steep climb (but you could get on trolley if you wanted). Our room had window seat and city view. Very nice, large room, clean. Staff very friendly and helpful with directions. Coffee in AM and wine in PM great.

The lobby is very nice, but our room was rather shabby. The bathroom, in particular, had broken and repaired fixtures. The room was clean and comfortable, though, and the location is great. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, but would probably check out other hotels in the immediate neighborhood, too.

Room was small, sink was in a "closet" and didn't have much room. Pillows were awful. Service was very good, everyone went out of there way to attend to you. Wine was served from 5 to 6 everyday ... One reason we chose the hotel was it was close to the Trolley Car line ... however when it arrived at the stop on the corner it was always full and you had to walk to the end of the line to get on.

Once you get past the unpleasant smell of the otherwise charming lobby (combination of old age and mildew) you'll find very comfortable but smallish rooms that are tastefully decorated and very clean. Bed is very comfortable. But, if planning to walk to hotel from Union Square, be prepared for two block of very steep hill.

This hotel was a great place to stay. The location was wonderful, within walking distance to Chinatown and Union Square and a cable car stop was only feet away. The complimentary breakfast wasn't that impressive but the wine reception every evening was a great way to talk to other people. The room was small, but apparently that's common in San Francisco. The room we were in was pretty quite except for the garbage trucks early in the morning. Overall, I would definately recommend this hotel to others. The staff is very helpful and the hotel is nice.

The price is what it is based on the city and location. The staff was cordial and helpful. However, when we checked in, front desk "upgraded" us to a king bed (originally had a queen). We thought this was a nice gesture but the room they assigned ended up to be handicap-friendly. The only problem with this was the showerhead was half the height of a normal showerhead. A bit problematic for a guest who is 6'3". This made me wonder whether the upgrade was genuine or if it was the only room remaining (since they informed us that the hotel was fully booked)???

The staff was great and very attentive. Can't beat the location (3 blocks from Chinatown and 4 blocks from the Irish Bank pub which we highly recommend). The cable car was less than a block away. Our concierge was wonderful. With so much to do, we missed out on the complimentary wine tasting, but the continental breakfasts were adequate. Contrary to the web site, no coffee makers in the room, but with breakfasts from 7-9 it wasn't an issue. Starbucks close by. Recommend Uncle Vito's for a quick bite (same corner as the cable car). There were some free wi-fi's we could connect to in the lobby. Can't miss with this one.

The character and charm of a small European hotel where you are called by name, remembered from trip to trip and who respond to any request from having flowers and wine in the room to getting dinner reservations at restaurants that are "booked". A truly great pleasure to stay there and can't wait to go back.

Pros: 1. Pretty good location near Union Square. 2. Fairly friendly staff. Cons: 1. Very small rooms. 2. Our room overlooked an alley full of dumpsters and the adjacent apartment building. Each night, our sleep was interrupted by the racket of restaurant trash being poured into the dumpsters. 3. Old fashioned window-mounted air conditioner turns into a drum when it rains. 4. Smoke detector set off by shower steam (at least, the ancient detector made some sort of half-hearted squawking noise.) 5. Bathroom door knob broken. 6. Bathroom was dusty, blankets were dirty. Overall: Not a bad place to sleep if you get a good special rate (or appreciate the complimentary evening wine tastings). Don't expect a luxury hotel, though. And bring your earplugs!

The hotel is located in the heart of San Francisco and it is easy to get to anypart of the city quite easily. The hotel staff were very courteous and friendly. The room was very spacious, clean and well maintained. The complimentary continental breakfast and the Wine tasting are the other highlights of this hotel All in all, I highly recommend this hotel to anybody planning to visit San Fran!
