| Solmar Suites is an excellent place to stay in Cabo. It's only a 10 minute walk down to the marina. The La Roca restaurant has excellent food. The oceanfront junior suite was very clean, the only drawback was that the walls are very thin and you can hear everything that is going on in the room next door. This hotel is secluded with beautiful surroundings. If you are up for it, you can climb over the rocks to Lover's Beach. It's a little tricky, so be careful and go with a buddy! :) Hope this helps!

| This was a great place to stay since it was private and secluded, yet very close to all the sights in Cabo. The beach was tremendous (though no swimming allowed) and we listened to the waves crash all night long. The only downfall is that Saturday nights the hotel hosts a "Fiesta" night, which involved a lot of noise over a lot of microphones that seemed to invade the entire property. Make plans to get off property that night if you don't want to be disturbed. Other than that, the staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and the price was very reasonable compared to other hotels!

| Our flight was delayed and we got to our hotel late, so there was only one room left and it didn't have a view. The supervisor at Solmar was so nice and offered us an upgrade to their sister hotel, Playa Grande which was incredible! We ended up with a full suite with 2 balconies! Both hotels staff were very friendly, but my review above is for Playa Grande as that is where we stayed.

Just had an issue with the receptionist (not very nice...but well I saw her for 10 mn and then just enjoy my stay!). Perfect for Family as the rooms have two beds, a terrasse, hotel has three swimming pool... and the best Happy hour!

| I loved my stay at the solmar suites. I am 22 and it was very peaceful but it was only a $6 cab ride to squid row and that was for 4 of us. There was also an italian restaurant about 5-10 min walk away. Galeon was their name and it really was not very good and the service was aweful. They also added on a $25 tip on our $68 check so be careful of that. But we spent most of our time by the amazing pool and the food at the pool bar was very cheap and tasty. The drinks were also pretty cheap with a great happy hour. I would definately go there again.

| This was a beautiful place to stay at. Very clean relaxing place to stay, definitely appropriate for people traveling with children. Breakfast was great at the hotel restaurant, be sure to try the banana pancakes. Be ready for security to ask your room # everytime you come in and leave. Perfect location, not to far from downtown, yet far enough to really let you unwind.

| We stayed 7 nights and enjoyed every minute. The location is perfert - it's close enough to walk to the city (10 min), but it's isolated enough to not be crowded. The room was nice and clean. The kids had fun going out from the room directly to the sand. The pools are nice. The water was warm but a little dirty. We didn't try the hotel's restaurant - we preferred to eat in the city. We had a good time there and would love to go back.

| The view at the Hotel is absolutely breath taking. Older units are right on the beach and much like "old mexico". The whole resort is very clean and in good condition. Best part, serene. No vendors on the beach, just beautiful sand and ocean. If you want action, walk to town. This is the best of both worlds. We will definitely go back!!!

| This was our third trip to Cabo and each time we have stayed at Solmar. The staff are generally helpful and maid service is superb. For this stay we had a room with a kitchenette and I would recommend this for anyone that likes to take their mornings slowly and we won't do without one again. We did recognize several of the staff from our previous trips but the new staff didn't seem as comfortable with English. We love the swim-up bar at the pool and the food was terrific!

It is VERY QUIET there...relaxing, no venders, beautiful views of the Pacific. The adults loved it, but the kids were bored. Downtown is very close for shopping, but NO place for kids after 8pm. We would go again without the teenagers.

| We really enjoyed the hotel and the staff. However, please be aware of the "free breakfast" when you arrive. It is a "time share" promotion and it did not make our first impression a very good one. We were not informed that the breakfast was connected to purchasing "weekly or more" time at the various properties there and worldwide. Next time we will say "No thank you". Otherwise, it was a premier place to stay in Los Cabos.

| The Solmar is ideally located on a very private beach about 1-mile from the heart of town. For the price, you cannot beat it...provided you get an ocean front room. Request suites 1200 thru 1500 to be ideally located on the sand and away from the main hotel. It is only a 3-star hotel, but they provide service beyoned that. Room service and poolside prices are reasonable, although nothing is cheap in Cabo anymore.

| The hotel is one of the older hotels in Cabo but it is very clean. I would strongly suggest not doing it all inclusive. Hotel is very close to Cabo San Lucas, just a short walk. Cabo has great restaurants and the water is clean! Best food: Sea Queen. Best snorkeling: Buccaneer Queen. Best deals: The Art and Craft Market on the edge of the marina. Just say no to the time shares and watch out at the airport, they will grab you!

| I went to the Solmar Suites with my girlfriend in January 2006 for a 10 day vacation. We were not overly impressed with the lobby or it's amenities, but the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the grounds was impressive. The hotel is an older one, but it is well maintained and very clean. The lighting in the rooms could use an update since the lighting in the bathroom is minimal at best. The room was very clean, and the view from the balcony on the beachfront room was terrific. Although breathtaking, the beach is not a swimming beach because of the strong undercurrents, so, wading in the ocean is the most you can do. The pools were also clean and well cared for. Service at the pool bar was also prompt. The quality of the food served by the resturant was more than what I had expected and this too was a pleasant surprise. Pricing was also reasonable. Certain nights were a good value and entertainment was also included on Mexican Fiesta Night (Saturdays). Breakfasts were also very good and the variety was OK. The walk to town was a short one, offering you the choice between the main street or a detour through the well kept marina. Either way was just a 10-12 minute walk to town. The Hotel also offers Time Share but was not pushy about selling which was also a nice change from the constant sales pitches in town. The hotel also has a coin operatied laundry room which came in handy.

| I stayed at Solmar in Nov 2002 and was quite pleased. So, we decided to stay there for our Dec 2005 trip. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as well this time. The room was a little dirtier and the staff a little less friendly. The real problem was the room location, though. Our 'garden view' room this time meant first floor looking at the parking lot. We asked to be moved and they were rather rude in telling us no. Last time I had reserved a garden view and did not have the same problem. Overall, it's still a decent hotel for the price and location. But I'll try somewhere else next time.

| Solmar Suites is a quiet small resort on a beautiful stretch of Pacific beach. Cabo, in general, is quickly becoming an over-built and very busy resort destination. That being said, the Solmar has quick access to the restaurants, harbor activites, nightlife, shopping (10 min walk to the center of town), and yet the hotel is quiet and secluded. It is built into the side of a mountain which blocks the noise, congestion, etc. of town. There are nice pools, decent restaurant, and spectacular sunsets. All in all, the best of two worlds... easy access to the wild and crazy and also true quiet and relaxation. The only downside is the water is too rough and cold to swim in the ocean. Swimming beaches are accessible by taxi or water taxi.

| It's one of the oldest hotels so the rooms could use some updating. We were in one of the junior suites and they don't look as new or as nice as the virtual tour implies. The beds were also quite hard and uncomfortable. On the positive side, we loved the location. It's on the Pacific side where ocean swimming is not allowed due to the currents, so we looked out at a wide, clean, practically empty beach from our balcony. It's wonderful for those wanting a quiet getaway just enjoying the sun and watching the birds, boats, whales and incredible sunsets. Contrast that with the hotels on the swimming beach where there is more of a spring break atmosphere (loud music and booze and bikini contests). Tastes differ, but we preferred the quiet side at Solmar.

| We had a good time here. This is definately a place to go if you don't want to be bothered with the outside world. The hotel is very quite and low key. Reading a book at the pool, tanning or just enjoying the view are the primary reasons to go to this hotel. There are not many activities that go on here, so if you are looking for an action packed place I would recommend one of the other hotels located on Meridian Beach. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from town. The taxi, is 3.00 per person and not worth it. A rental car is the only other way to get to town. The staff was friendly, hotel was extremely clean. The food was pretty good, but the service at the restaurant is slow, but that didn't seem to matter much cause the view looking out on the pool and the ocean was beautiful. If you go in Dec you can see the whales migrating in the ocean past the hotel. Watch out for the time share push at the sister hotel.

| Upon check in we were given a "garden view" room which was really a "parking lot view" with 1 bed and a sofa bed. It was a large room with kitchen but I had specifically requested a room with 2 beds. Went back to the front desk and fortunately I speak spanish and am a professional tour director and after a little persuasion was given room #2156 which is a corner room with 2 balconies overlooking the beach and most importantly 2 beds. It also had a large tiled bathroom, plenty of closet space and a small kitchen area. Beware of the timeshare desk at the front door. Again I had to tell them that we were tour directors and this prompted them to leave us alone. Restaurant and bar at Solmar are excellent and a beautiful location. Hotel is in an excellent location, short walk to town. We received 3 free dinners with our Expedia package at restaurants which are owned by the hotel. Romeo & Julieta = good italian, excellent service & Galeon = walk from the hotel, lovely restaurant with great view of marina, sea bass good, Caesar salad made tableside was delicious.Used Grayline transfers which worked out fine. A little slow upon arrival, had to wait for a van and then there were too many passengers. Upon departure they sent an SUV and the driver gave us a mini tour. Mexicana flight going to Mexico was excellent. Even gave us a sandwich and alcholic beverages for a 2 hr flight. American Airlines flight going home packed and only got a soft drink.

| I would return here. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It's secluded and private. Nice walk on the beach to the towering granite rock formations at Land's End. The water temp in the pools seemed too warm for my taste. Any seasoned Mexico traveller knows that beds are usually VERY firm mattress on a cement slab. Towels are hard to come by, thus the towel "rental" card. It's not a very long walk to town, maybe 15-20 mins. You can cut through the Marina on the way there. Mostly flat, one grade at hotel complex entrance. Restaurant food was fine and actually comparably priced to restaurants in town (Cabo is NOT cheap to begin with.) The pool by the entrance seemed a bit "Spring Break" when we arrived, but there are 2 other quieter pools there, plus a large jacuzzi.
