| This hotel looks nothing like the pictures and is no where near a four star hotel...It is very over priced for the rooms you get. The over priced buffet for breakfast is not very good. The food was cold and the coffee tasted like dirt. I would recommend staying at another resort or hotel if you would like a four star hotel.

| It was three couples staying in your two bedroom suite and we were most comfortable. we would have enjoyed a larger pool and maybe a separate adult pool. The staff was accomodating, food and service was great.Tennis courts were always accessible for play at most any time. One thing we all enjoyed was they have everything you need right inside the resort,Beach, pool food, and drinks.

| Very nice grounds. Laid back atmosphere. Great for tennis. Service below average for that community. Room wasn't ready for check-in and had to wait over 2 hours. Maid service was before 9 am and they woke up children before we asked them to come later. Gym has restricted hours for teenagers and parent must be present. Rooms clean and well maintained. Very nice beach.

| We (my husband, one year old & myself) enjoyed the hotel and it's many amenities. The staff was excellent and the beach was spectacular. The only problem we encountered was the carpet in our hotel room was dirty. We discovered this by the fact that my toddler does not walk - he crawls - and his feet and hands were black w/dirt from the room. However, the room itself is very spacious & easily accomodated our family.

| The hotel accomodations were nice but could be updated. The tennis is great, always courts available and lots of lessons/drills going on. The beach is wonderful. Longboat key is some of the nicest beaches I've seen. The restaurants were also very good and takeout was available which we enjoyed since we have kids and had a 2 bedroom suite.

| Historic tennis resort with excellent restuarants and gracious service. Condo units have been updated, and while not state-of-the-art, are very comfortable for couples and families. Everything is accessible to a wonderful beach. Pool is small and an attraction mainly for the children.

| I would recommend it as an "ok" place to go that is moderately priced. The service was not very good. The waiter/waitress service at the restaurants was poor, very slow and not very accomodating. However, I have been here on other occassions and it was alot better.

| We typically go to the Carribbean or Mexico for all inclusive packages so this was quite different for us and we were'nt sure what to expect. My husband & I had a very romantic and relaxing 4 nights at the Colony. And were pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the 1 bedroom condo. (Yes the resort is older but it is in great condition and very clean) The staff was so friendly and accomodating. We checked in an hour early and our room wasn't ready so we we directed to the pool bar for a cocktail and relaxed in the sun at the pool waiting for our "page". The Strawberry Rum Daquiri had quite the punch and reminded us of Jamica, we truly felt we were on vacation. We were surprised when we entered our room to find a welcome gift bag with flowers, fruit, cheeses, crackers, coffees, teas and a nice bottle of wine. We did not eat at the resturants for we prepared our own breakfasts and lunches and went out in the evening for a little dinner and night life. The restaurants were award winning dining and the menus looked fabulous. The pool was warm and the beach was very clean. The resort was booked but you wouldn't know it. There were plenty of lounge chairs and "tiki huts" on the beach. The restaurants were pricey and although the drinks were also a little steep they didn't skimp on the booze. We don't play tennis so I have no comments on the courts or fitness facilities. We were there to strictly relax.

| Fabulous location. Friendly staff. Accomplished tennis faculty. The Colony is a great retreat for both tennis players and non-. Appears dated, at first, but its unpretentious charm shines through immediately. Villa suites are roomy, clean; kitchens have all the basics. Beach location is perfect with plenty of waterfront activities for everyone. Proximity to Sarasota dining/shopping is huge! Great surprises: steam bath in room, happy hour at the beach til sunset, most kid camp activities included. I went for the tennis, I'll go back for that and everything else!

| The rooms are more like apartments and while nice enough not exactly luxurious. But the rest of the resort more than makes up for it. The tennis instructors are terrific and you can always get a court. The staff is very friendly, everything is convenient, the spa is relaxing and the beach is great!! Plus the local town is reminiscent of Key West. We will definitely go back.
