Everthing about the hotel was fabulous. EXCEPT for the restaurant - no host or hostess available only the cook. Tried breakfast on Sunday morning completely ignored. We went next door. Concerige sent us to lower east side to an indoor "flea market". I expressed no interest in a food market to them but that is where they sent me. Waste of time.

Location: Major landmarks, great shopping, and tons of restaurants, are all within a leisurely walk, and New York is a city that needs to be walked. Room: Generous size (for N.Y.), warm and fuzzy, and overall meets requirements. (Take your CD's along for that personal touch) Service: Just like home. Concierge, doormen, reception: all first class. In three days, I knew most of their names. Cons: No loud bustling bar full of sexy babes. (You can get that next door). No jewellery or T-shirt shops with outrageous prices. (Also next door if you wish). In my mind these are pros, not cons; but you be the judge.

We stayed at this hotel on 27 May 2006 and were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff, the classic style of the hotel decor and the location just a few blocks from 5th Ave and convenient for shopping, the MOMA and much much more. We would definitely recommend The Benjamin to anyone seeking a hotel in mid-town as it is good value for money compared to other hotels in its class. We can also recommend the breakfast, which at hotel prices was much better value than Oscar's across the road.

Can't say enough of how great this hotel was. The people made you feel so special and the room was pristine. The bedding was comfortable and the sheets felt so good that I went home and ordered some on line. The pillow menue was nice. The only down side was they were out of two choices, but had many others to choose from. We had room service at midnight and the food was delicious.

Good location, mid-town east.Very professionally-run hotel. Unusually large rooms (suite) by NYC standards. Excellent housekeeping. Very quiet room, despite the honks and sirens. Even the air-conditioner was fairly quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable with 11 (!) choices of pillow, if you're into that. Great amenities for business travelers. We'll definitely be back-would recommend the place for anyone.

A long weekend in NYC with theater, dinners, and rugby were enhanced by the stay at The Benjamin. Vrey friendly, helpful, and professional staff! Location is great for all possible venues and public transport or walking were often taken. Room was spacious, and quite comfortable. Gen. Mgr. even sent a note and provided a surprise Anniversary pastry (Our 30th). We will definitely go back. We lived and worked in NYC for many years, and we've stayed at many Manhattan hotels, paying more, and getting less. The Benjamin is Great Service, and Great Value!

We stayed here during the weekend of Dec. 11 and I was very impressed. The staff was very helpful, we were able to check in early, we got there Sunday morning before noon and they gave us our rooms. The rooms were wonderful. They were spotless. The bathrooms were on the small side but had everything we needed and were done very well. It was nice to have the ability to fix ourselves a cup of coffee in the morning without leaving the room! It is amazing how many hotels in New York don't offer coffee makers in the rooms! It's the little things that make all the difference! The Conceirge made dinner reservations for us in Little Italy and she was very pleasant. We had drinks in the lounge, no bar per se, but the young lady who waited on us was very pleasant. I would absolutely recommend them and will plan on staying there again. The location worked out perfectly for us. We could walk to Rockfeller Center, down 5th Ave, to Broadway. We can't say enough good things! The price was (for this time of year in NY) quite reasonable.

The deluxe rooms are comfortable, but not as large as they appear in the photos. Bathrooms are very small, typical for NY but somewhat inconsistent with the rest of the hotel. The mini kitchens are a big plus. Our companions had a one bedroom suite which was very well appointed & spacious, with a comfortable fold out sofa. The staff is exceptionally helpful, friendly, and efficient, and strive to maintain a cozy, low key feeling of refuge in the city. Excellent location.

I have stayed in many hotels in the US and Europe. Never have I had the positive stay, which I experienced at The Benjamin from October 27-31, 2005. From the time you enter the hotel lobby, filled with the nuance of fresh flowers, attention to detail is the operative phrase. The staff is unobtrusively perfect. The cleanliness of the room was beyond compare. The Benjamin is without peer in the hotel industry.

Very friendly staff welcoming us every time we entered the hotel and wishing us a pleasant day every time we walked out. Rooms are nice, not sure if they are worth the money. The first room the hotel checked us into was on the 5th floor and appeared to be lacking on the upkeep with a dirty tinge to the carpet. We bit the bullet that night, but complained the next and they sent us to the 11th floor. The room was much cleaner and had a terrific view over looking Lexington Ave. The hotel caters more to business cliental which is obvious considering the location. For our leisurely trip to NYC, we much prefer the friendlier neighborhoods of the upper West Side.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend at The Benjamin. The staff was courteous and helpful. We had a 1-bedroom suite that was small (but, hey, this is a NYC hotel) but comfortable and tastefully furnished. We didn't take advantage of their 'Pillow Concierge' since we both were quite pleased with their standard-issue. Only negative: I forgot my sunglasses in the room and I had to pay to ship them back to me. You'd figure after what we spent on the room and food ($50 breakfast!), they'd spring for that. Regardless, we'd definitely stay again.

I travel to New York quite a bit. I have stayed at several hotels mostly 4 star, and none of them have compared to this hotel. I was a little concerned with some of the reviews that I had read on the internet before my stay. As to some of the comments about having to tip everyone, It's New York, that's how most of the people make their money. If you don't want to tip, carry your own bags and hail your own cab. Simple. The room was very nice and roomy, but the part that I liked best about this hotel is the fact that I had a full size refrigerator in my room, that I could put my own groceries in. The bed was comfortable, and I was able to get a noise machine, which played wind noise to help me sleep. Their pillow menu is awesome. As I am pregnant, and had a cold during my business trip - I have to say this was one of the nicest stays I have had. The staff was awesome and greeted me each time I came in the building. As to the elevator's - they are quite slow, but I was only on the second floor, so I used the stairs. But other than that.. I have nothing but great thoughts about the Benjamin. When I take my family to New York, we will stay here.
