I don't understand the good, almost glowing reviews of this place. The bed was hard. The kitchen sink had no water and there was a large gap under the door so big that light (and who knows what else) came in. I asked where I could buy ice (there is no ice machine on the property) and was told to come back later and when I did there was no one available to talk to. Parking was very limited and difficult to access. I couldn't wait to get back to San Juan.

Caribe Playa Beach Resort is the place you go if you want to get away from everything and do pretty much nothing. You need to be pretty easy going and self sufficient. It's not the place to be if you're looking for nightlife or good cuisine...and service is something they do if they get time. There is a small restaurant with limited hours and a limited menu, though the view is spectacular. The hotel is right on the water so you sleep to the sound of the waves. You definitely need a car and driving is considered a sport in Puerto Rico. Pack lightly ...You could go with just a swinsuit a pair of shorts and a sarong as there is nowhere to go to dress up. Try the massage therapist - magic touch.

The hotel and property are kept very clean and service is extremely friendly. The facility is literally directly on the beach. It's about 25yards from the room to the water! The beach is mostly stoney but there is a sandy area to get into the water. The rooms are equipped with a refigerator/freezer, kitchenette and coffeemaker (I believe you can even get a microwave upon request) which allow you to store drinks and prepare some meals by yourself. Ideal for the more budget oriented traveller - plus you can have you morning coffee or sandwich for lunch while sitting under palm trees directly on the beach, only yards away from your own room. Overall it is a very enchanted and quiet get-away. It's ideal for people who would like to relax and explore a more remote area of the island (need a rental care anyway to get there, around and back) while enjoying a most beautiful beach/bay without spending too much money.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing get away and we got it! This resort is small but quaint. The service was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There is not much for children to do. The beach and pool are the only onsite activities. There are plenty of recreation activities within driving distance. We especially enjoyed the rain forest!! The drive to the resort from the airport in San Juan is long (+2hours) and difficult because of the mountain roads. Take the major highways and arrive in daylight, if possible. We would like to go again!

We were very pleased with this hotel. The grounds were very well maintained and the views were beautiful. The rooms were sorta of small but pretty. I had to go out side in order to get the window opened (slats). Any inconviences were minor. It had a very homey like feel. The staff were real friendly, not at all stuffy. The beach was very rocky which made walking and swimming difficult. However the swimming pool was wonderful, beautiful and clean as well as the grounds surrounding it. Many local people come to this hotel for long weekends. It's not very touristy but peaceful and calm. This is the place to go if you want to relax. We loved it and will go back for certain.
