| The hotel was nice but we didn't go to sit on our room all day. We had a great ocean view. The planes are nice to watch and the beach is very clean. Water is crystal clear. Maho beach: the water does get deep quickly so might not be the best for kids but you can float out there for hours. The island is great! Lots to see and do.

| There was construction being done on the water pipes all week, which led to some very inconvenient times of not being able to get water in the room. They also were having problems with both internet and TV, in the room, which shouldn't be a big deal if you're there for the beaches. Not a bad hotel, but not great either.

| Very nice reasonable vacation. Islanders are friendly and want you to have a good time. Pool is beautiful and there are many excellent restaurants to pick from. Spa is great! Shopping is wonderful! Only drawback is that the hotel is very close to the airport so the noise from the planes can sometimes be annoying.

| Very friendly check-in staff immediately made us feel welcome and paved the way for a great weekend. Faultless service, especially at the pool bar, made all of our rather large group comment on how we would definitely return to the Sonesta when we come back to this 'Caribbean Vegas'!

| Hotel was nice. The planes coming in along the beach were amazing. Make sure you request not to have a room that overlooks the mainstreet or gulf course. The music coming from Cheri's across the street was VERY loud, easy to hear in your room.

| Sonesta Maho is a tremendous facility with two swimming pools, lots of activities, and yet places to go that are quite private. It is a very well maintained property set in the middle of lots of action - casino across the street, the beach is right there, you can almost touch the airplanes coming in. The service was terrific at all of the many restaurants in the complex. Make sure to consider some portion of all-inclusive. We didn't but ended up eating breakfast at the buffet nearly every day. You can do just breakfast, breakfast and beverages and other combos which were really worth it.

| Sonesta Maho Beach Resort (SMBR) is clean, comfortable, & friendly. On arrival at the airport, it's a few minutes away, including picking up (or returning) a rental car. Rent a car. You can bargain it down from over $300 a week to about 200 just by asking. Under- hotel parking is $5/day. Drive all over the island, esp to Marigot- visit Fort Louis & eat french food. The airport is a primary point of attraction to this area. If planes annoy you, go somewhere else. They skim right over the beach throughout the day, and many tourists will intentionally get "blasted" as the planes take off - esp Air France's biggest Airbus, every evening. Ask for the in-room safe key when checking in. Has a very nice pool, & quick access to a small beach. No coffee in lobby anymore; in-room coffee is poor. Breakfast at SMBR is all-or-nothing, $15. Many good dining choices & essential shopping are across the street. Sunset Beach Bar & Grill is a short walk. Some evening entertainment occurs around the complex, without detectable pattern. Beaches do not go on for miles - they're scattered around. Mullet Bay beach is easily walkable from SMBR.

| I often hesitate a bit about large upscale hotels, as I've seen many that are just getting very old, have lousy service or simply don't provide the value you'd expect. Sonesta St Maarten is clean, the rooms and facilities look new or recent, staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet is great. I would just have appreciated a more extensive room service offering, but apart from that I would definitely return here.

| Very satisfied with the hotel in general. Great location, pool, beach, shops and restaurants--plus the added bonus of the entertainment provided by watching the planes come and go. However, we found we overpaid compared to others--all the rooms are the same. And, the view is just as good on the higher floors. Don't waste money on "upgrades."

| We just returned from our stay at this resort. This resort was the best. The kids loved watching the planes land and take off. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The front desk manager helped us rent a car at 8:00 pm which I thought was impossible to do at that time of night. We had a new car outside in 10 minutes. I recommend the All-Inclusive. The restaurants outside of the resort are overpriced and the food is not as good. It was a nice change from a cruise ship that hands you a large bill at the end of your cruise. Our family spent $1.50 for phone calls. We recommend the casino across the street and the shops are also reasonably priced. The downside is there is not much for children to do other than swim. The staff let my kids swim at night as long as they were quiet. The beach is clean and the staff brought us lounge chairs on the beach. This was a great vacation spot for anyone! We will be back!

| I have stayed at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort at least 6 times. It is very clean, very friendly and in a great location. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone that wants to visit the beautiful Island of StMartin. The only thing I was unhappy with is paying for use of the parking garage. I feel that if you are paying to stay in a hotel parking should be free. They give you a card that you swipe to get in and out of the garage and they never charged until Sonesta resorts bought them a year ago.

| I'm really pleased that I choose this hotel. The pool was an oasis in itself. They had a pool side bar with great music. During the day they played bingo for the kids. The beach was nice. An awesome place to do some plane spotting. Sunset Bar at the other end of the beach has a listing of planes arriving and departing, so you can be sure to be there on time to watch. Although our room had a view of the roof, we still could over look the mountains and had a view of planes taking off. At night Cheri's Cafe across the street is booming with loud music. If your looking to get some rest, don't get these rooms. After 2 nights of this, we asked if we could switch rooms, (which they gladly will accomodate), but the other room faced the water treatment. If your into relaxing in your room on the balacony, I would suggest upgrading to the pool/beach view. Since going out to eat is expensive, I would highly recommend getting the all inslusive package for this hotel. I have never had buffet food better than here. My compliments to the chef, over and over!! We did not have the inclusive package, so lunch was $40 and dinner $60. Rather expensive for a buffet, but we loved the food and the french pastries. The only down fall is the people pushing you to see their time share. Its so annoying after the first day.Renting a car is the only way to go. But first make sure you are an aggressive driver. The natives are crazy drivers/pedestrians so be aware. Also watch out for the unmarked speedbumps.

| We liked the Sonesta Maho and will stay there again if we go back to St. Martin. The lobby, pool and rooms were nice, but unless you get a ocean view room, there isn't any view. Our SupperSaver room had a view of the roof, but since we didn't spend much time in the room we really didn't care. The Maho is located in a great spot. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The shops are open late at night, so you can walk around after dinner. There is also a market, sandwich shop, pizza place and ice cream shop. The Maho has a parking garage if you rent a car. If you like to watch planes take off and land, this is the hotel for you! You can see the airport runway from the pool and sunning areas, and we had a ball watching the planes takeoff and land. We couldn't hear the planes from our room so noise wasn't an issue. The Maho has a small water slide that our kids(ages 8 & 10) loved. It's located at a smaller pool that's less crowded than the main pool. There isn't a beach at the hotel, but there's one within walking distance. We had a great stay at the Sonesta Maho.

| This hotel sits in the middle of the nightlife of St. Maarten. It is a definite 3 star hotel because everything was nice but not overly so. There is really no beach at the hotel but in St. Maarten one should really rent a car and travel to the different beaches anyway. Parking was in a covered garage rather than on the street and the Maho offered a hassle free enjoyable stay. The only downside was that the hallway smelled damp, but we did not stay in the hallway long.
