Took a family of four (kids 12 & 15) for a 4 night stay at the Embassy Suites Lakefront. The hotel is in the heart of downtown Chicago. No more than 5 minute walk to Navy Pier, 5 minutes to Michigan Ave., 10 minutes to ESPNZone (boys LOVED it), maybe 15 minutes to Ditka's (adults LOVED it). It is a safe walk everywhere, even at night. The hotel is very nice, great service & great housekeeping. The one down side, the pool is a "lap pool". It's only about 15' wide & 60-70' long. Very strange, especially for a hotel like this. However, we spent so much time wondering the city, by the time we got back to our room, the kids never had the energy to swim anyway. If you want to do the "tourist" thing in Chicago, and have a family, this is the place to stay. The only cab we took was to the Museum of Science & Industry ($25 ride) & back. Also, the water taxi from Navy Pier to the Aquarium/Planetarium/Field Museum is worth the trip. Oh yea, and watch out, the price to park your car at the hotel is $35 per day! Add that to the cost of the room when figuring out what you are going to spend.

A good family place to stay. Location convenient- walk to millenium park, art museum (a bit of a hike) or Michigan Ave. Three blocks from highly recommended Freedom Museum. The breakfast was large in offerings but mediocre in quality. Parking was too expensive ($34/day). There is a $22/day lot right across the street.

The Embassy Lakefront was a great location for the Shedd and Field Musuem, Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue. We were traveling with our kids so the hot breakfast was very convienent every morning as was the free drinks and snacks every evening. The kids only complaint was the pool was small, but hey at least there is a pool! The hotel was beautiful and clean and very family friendly.

Walking distance to Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile and Free Trolleys. Room service had a reasonably priced kid's menu. Lobby and pool area are not as "fancy" as some others. Rates were an excellent value. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're travelling with children.

Hotel was very good. Free drinks every night for 2 hours. Free breakfast (not just bagels, EVERYTHING) in the morning. Very helpful staff. Great location. Concierge could've been a bit more helpful (we called early because we said we were going to a White Sox game that night, and it was raining where we were. She said no rain there all day. When we got there, she said "Yes, it's been cancelled. Its been raining here all last night and all day today". ??) NOt a great place for people afraid of heights/kids. All of the rooms surround an open atrium, with only 2 1/2 foot wall between you and the open air. You have to walk all the way around to get to rooms, depending on where your room is.

The beds were very comfortable, all of us slept soundly. Don't count on the same level of comfort on the pull out sofa, though. The shutters in the hallway side window do not shut out the light, they look good but curtains would be better for sleeping. The breakfast was not great but it was included and there was lots to choose from, just don't choose the eggs. The staff we encountered were very nice, friendly.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any families traveling to Chicago on vacation. The suites are spacious and clean and one of the nicest parts is the complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast each morning (outstanding!) and the manager's reception every evening, which includes complimentary snacks and beverages (including beer and wine for the adults!) It's a short walk from Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. I would definitely stay there again.

We have visited Chicago on many occasions, and this was a wonderful experience. The hotel staff greeted us with open arms as we got out of the car, and the first class treatment continued until we departed. We were able to check in early, almost 5 hours before scheduled, and everything was perfect. Pool was small, but great for the kids. The hotel was packed, but we felt comfortable there the entire time. The breakfast and manager's reception were a hit! We make numerous trips up there for shopping and sightseeing, and we will continue to stay at this location. Although parking was a little pricey, the breakfast and afternoon drinks and snacks made up for the cost of parking. Also, location is perfect, very close to shopping, dining, and museums.

We paid a little more for this hotel, but it was suite, after all, and had a magnificent view. It's location was supurb, with plenty within very short walking distance- shopping on Michigan Ave. and the fun Navy Pier. The lobby was modern, with a huge atrium and glass elevators = very attractive. Another thing that set it above the rest was the breakfast, which is included in the price. We got two tickets for drinks and appetizers at the atrium bar's manager's reception, but we did not get to go. The only negative is that the parking is an additional $32 a day. You might try the public parking lot to the south of the hotel for a cheaper price. We will definitely go back.

The hotel staff was very nice and accomidating. Best part was the included breakfast. Great selection and very tasty! For it's value, I'd recommend the Embassy Suites to anyone...

I needed to be somewhat near W. Madison, so the location of this hotel was pretty good. I happened to get a deal on Expedia for my stay which also sweetened the deal. And the fact that this hotel includes in the cost of a room a fairly good breakfast, I was quite satisfied. Oh yes, if you can catch the happy hour in the lobby, that's a nice treat as well. My only disappoinment with the hotel room was that the bed wasn't quite as comfortable as I had expected...it was rather hard, and the linens could have been of a little better quality.
