| This hotel was perfect for my needs. Close to Mission Bay, downtown, and just a short trip east on I-8 to visit family in La Mesa and El Cajon. The pool was nice as it got to 100+ degrees during this unusual hot spell (at least in La Mesa). There was great shopping at neaby malls also.

| The hotel is close to major attractions with easy access on and off I-8. Plenty of staff who are quick to respond to even simple plaesues like my 14yr old son calling room service for mouth wash just because he seen it it the room guide. My daughter thought it was the best hotel we have ever been to because of the pool and tropical grounds. Parking is an additional fee per day and the room is clean overall just dont look to close because then you may be let down. I expected more for the money but then again I have high expectations. Our stay was pleasant and my family is pleased so I would go back again.

| This hotel provided double queen beds which are good for a family of four. The rooms were very clean and had ample wardrobe space for extended stays. Its location provided easy driving access to the main attractions while avoiding heavy traffic. The on premise dining is higher priced, but many other choices are available to those with a car. This hotel is just 5 to 10 minutes from the zoo, museums, downtown, beaches etc.

| I took two of our children on Spring Break here. We stayed on Shelter Island and here, and I wish we had stayed here the whole time. The location makes everything easy. The staff gave us immediate attention - even replaced an AC unit at 11:30 at night when we got in and we didn't think it was cool enough. Breakfast buffet ends too early. Parking is limited, even though you pay for it. We felt very safe. We recommend this.

| Overall we were pleased with the hotel but on our next trip to San Diego will try another. The location is good and can get to anywhere in San Diego in 30 minutes or less (eg, Old Town - 5 minutes). The staff was very friendly. We only ate breakfasts at the hotel but the service was prompt and friendly. I particularly enjoyed the Hawaiian themed decor and gardens throughout the hotel. We stayed on 6th floor and only 2/3 of the elevators were working. We always found parking close to our entrance but the spaces are narrow. On Sunday, housekeeping didn't show up till 5:00pm after we returned from our day's outing. The pool is nice but if you are an adult you probably want to avoid it in the late afternoon/evenings as it is full of kids. We had a room on the sixth floor facing the pool and while the view was nice the freeway noise was discernable especially if you had the sliding glass door open. Also bothersome was the noise from teenagers in the room next to us and on our floor slamming doors and dragging furniture. Despite the efforts of hotel security and parents, the hotel is older and transmits noise readily so you are out of luck if you have noisy neighbors or like to sleep with the windows open. Parking and internet is extra. Our room had a refrigerator and microwave. On Saturday evening we enjoyed from our balcony a peformance of Hawaiian music and dance but YMMV. A better hotel if you have younger children.

| The Hanalei is conveniently located for travel throughout the San Diego area with easy access to public transportation, major highways, and local attractions. The hotel staff could not be more helpful or accommodating, In addition to the excellent restaurants within easy driving distance, the hotel restaurants provide a wide range of reasonably priced dining options. I have stayed here four times and will definitely go back when I am next in San Diego.

| I liked the hotel in general. Would recommend it to other people for sure because of its close proximity to a lot of attractions in San Diego. Great sushi bar. My kids loved the taste of the sushi. The pool was clean. The only thing I didn't care for was their Peacock restaurant. It looked like a step down from Denny's. Would highly recommend that they renovate the place. The other restaurant in the hotel was nice and had great food. Would also recommend creating an area for kids to play in. Would go back to the hotel next time I'm in San Diego.

| This hotel has to be the best-kept secret on San Diego's Hotel Circle. Although older, it has clearly been recently renovated, and is maintained in immaculate condition. The indoor and outdoor waterfalls, lagoons, fish ponds and tropical foliage are all are kept in perfect condition. We requested a room overlooking the pool, which I would recommend, which allowed us to sit on the 4th floor balcony and look at the palms and lush banana trees while having coffee in the morning. Our room (1429) had double sinks in the granite countertop, and was super clean. I worked out in the fitness room, which was small but clean and well-maintained. The two restaurants were great, service fast, and the food was wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

| I would go back. The room was very nice. Spacious and very clean and tidy. I did think that a little paint and caucking would have made the bathroom almost perfect. I was pleased to see a microwave and fridge. I throughly enjoyed the balcony and large slider that I had open the entire time. Room service was excellent and prompt. Food wasn't that great tho. I had a BLT. I would have liked to see the Hotel comp the internet service. That's a lot of money per night. Doors could have used springs on them so they didn't slam shut all the time from the wind. That was quite noisy and I heard it quite often. I still give the room a high mark. I thought it was very nice!

| Spent 4 nights at this hotel and it was very nice.We wanted to stay near the beach but because this was a last minute trip we ended up at this hotel. While it isn't near the beach, the location was great for getting everywhere we ended up going. Nothing fancy as far as the room, but it was clean and quiet. We were lucky to get a room on the top floor and at the end of the building. A good place to stay. A bonus here is the Sushi Bar. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Many local were there just for the sushi. Add $10.00 for parking per night to your budget for this place

| The hotel has a Hawaiian theme to it. There are koi ponds and lush landscape everywhere. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The pool was great and cleaned every morning plus they had pool side beverage and food service. The hot tub is great-get's a little packed in the evening. The sushi bar had some of the best sushi I've ever had. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only bad thing is that you have to pay for parking each day--that is the only downside. Also, we ate at the Peacock Lounge for dinner, I don't recommend it, the food wasn't all that great for the price. If you decide to eat at the hotel, I recommend the sushi bar and the Islands restaurant.

| We asked for and were given a room with a view on an upper floor which overlooked the pool, palms and had a view of the Presidio Mission. Our Premium King Room was very large and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of room, double sinks and a great showerhead. We were there for 4 nights. They have a wonderful, hot, spa pool as well. We had read a previous review on the cost for parking so we weren't in shock over that, but figured it into the total package. The hotel front desk staff was very curtious and fast. The best feature, outside of the actual accomodations, was the location. It is very close to all of the freeways and anywhere you would want to go. The freeway noise is strong on the balcony, but the room is very quiet. We would highly recommend the Hanalei.

| The room was directly across from the highway and therefore rather noisy. It was also somewhat shabby and smelled bad. Room service didn't clean the room until late in the afternoon and did not restock amenities. The alarm clock was broken, so was the closet door. The room was located outside of the actual hotel, next to executive offices. Maybe the hotel itself was nicer, but the room I was assigned to sure wasn't.

| I have stayed at this hotel 4 times and the people that work there are great! I can not get this good of personalized services at higher rated hotels. It is a little old and some things in the rooms are a bit worn but the maids really clean the room well and to me having my room clean is important. The only complaint I have is their internet service, it sucks! It is not wireless and the cables are small so you have to sit at their small uncomfortable desk to use it. Then if you are at a high traffic time the internet stops working all together which cost me valuable hours of time. Disappointing because I would stay at the Red Lion for 6 days per month but I cannot stay where the internet is inconvenient or not working.
