The Melia Azul was a great choice for us on our spring break vacation. The room was comfortable, fairly basic and very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, willing to answer any question. There are about four different places at the resort to eat under the all-inclusive plan, all buffet style and the food was enjoyable. There is simple table service at these spots for drinks, coffee etc, and the wait staff could not have been more gracious. The pool areas and beach are absolutely delightful for families with children. Pools and beach are very close to eachother so you can spend the day "toggling" between both with ease. They are well-kept and well-manned by life guards. At one of the pools there is an "entertainment" booth where you can get balls, boogie boards, and where the staff keeps games for adults and kids going all day. The all-inclusive plan includes a meal at the hotel's "fancy" restaurant, but it wasn't that good--I would have been happier just eating at one of the resort's four "lesser" restaurants which have more authentic Mexican foods.

Our stay at the Melia was much more than we expected. This was our first Trip to a Foriegn Country with our children ages 6, 9, and 19 and we were a little nervous as to what to expect as far as the activities and amenities go. Wow what a great time we had, The hotel staff was excellent, the amenities were outstanding and even the buffets we decent, the rooms were awesome with views of the ocean and Island Ixtapa across from us with beautiful sunsets. The pools and the water activities were a lot of fun especially water polo and water volley ball. I dont think I would make this a honeymoon trip but if your interested in a Awesome family vacation than this is your destination, and please tip the hotel staff and waiters, they dont make a lot of money salary wise and the tips really help them out and they will definately show you there gratitude.

Had a great time. The staff were really great. The food was "all inclusive standard food". Good but not spectacular. The hotel and our room were clean and well maintained. Watch out for the welcoming committee attempting to ambush you with a covert sales pitch when you first arrive for vacation time shares disguised as a tour of the property.

My family and I truly enjoyed the experience and Hotel. Every staff member went out of there way to accommadate us and assist us in any way they could, which the entire Hotel Staff recieves an A+. This hotel is absolutely wonderful if you have children. Our little one is 18 months and everything was great for her, she had a ball in the playroom. There is something for everyone of all ages to do, we really had non-stop fun. I really encourage vistors to take advantage of all the activties that's offered at the Hotel, they are worth it and included. The food takes some getting use too and was not that good as far as me and my family were concerned, but since we were so busy with the many offer activities it wasn't a major concern. One downside of the trip was the time share people, they should be banned from the hotel. They were the most annoying and deceitful. I didn't like the fact that they greet at the door when you check into the hotel with your name on a roster, instructing you where to check in then stating that once you check in they will provide you with a map of the hotel, which leads you to believe that they are with the hotel assisting you with your stay and activities, what scamming pest!!!

I would recommend this resort to anyone. The nightly show at the outdoor theatre are for everyone and are awesome. Five restaurants to eat and different food themes were great. the hotel is a short beach walk from a market to shop for souveniers at great prices. This is the first resort I've stayed that even had drink waiters at the beach. Everywhere we went the servers were happy to get us a drink.

This hotel is great if you have kids. There are all you can eat buffets which are perfect for the kids. The pool is great for the kids. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic spot, this hotel isn't for you. But for a family vacation it was great. The food got a little boring after about 5 days, but other than that the hotel was great. My kids had a ball.

This hotel was GREAT-perfect for a family with children (we have a toddler). Saw a lot of honeymooners too though. Onsite babysitters and kids programs are included. The staff was incredible and catered to EVERY need. The hotel was very luxurious yet casually warm and sooooo friendly. Meals have never been so easy-eat whenever and as often as you want! Food was good-not 5 star restaurant but LOADS of choices and options that were generally quite good. The grounds were gorgeous-like a tropical paradise without having to spend the $$ to get to Hawaii. Best part was not having to pay for ANYTHING once inside-we lived the week like celebrities! If you are looking for comfortable luxury in MX, this is the place. The pools had something for everyone-small children in the baby pool, older kids activities, my husband even played water polo with the activities staff. You don't want to miss out on the fun, beauty and luxury that is Melia Azul-bring the kids or go romantic!

Great hotel, great pool but it is a convention hotel and they will overbook and not let you know until you arrive. In those cases they will put you in a substandard hotel down the road and you don't have any recourse. This is what they did to us on our recent trip. Too bad for such a great facility.

Hotel was excellent. Slides in kids pool are not as nice as shown on promotional material. Hotel accomodations were excellent and the service was outstanding. The food was average, at best. Be ready for the requests to attend the timeshare presentation (they are persistent). Location of resort was okay. Would prefer to be closer to Ixtapa to be within walking distance of the shopping and restaurants.
