My husband and I were here a year ago on our honeymoon and loved the tranquil, plantation style atmosphere so we went back in April 2006. The hotel is now under renovations and the tranquil atmosphere has been replaced by the sounds of power tools and moving furniture. The front desk is not very knowledgable about the amendities of the hotel and not very willing to help. The housekeeping service is thorough and pleasant yet they are incessant about "privacy please" signs and called us twice during a "nap" to ask us if we wanted our room cleaned. Overall the stay was not as relaxing as I had hoped for but the sites around Kauai make up for it. I recommend this hotel if only for the setting - wait until after the renovations, unplug your phone and relax on the patio.

For Kauai, the price was basically in line with other comparable places. However, the 'Ocean View' rooms are set back off the ocean with a view between villa's on the beach. Buffet breakfast was wonderful as was dinner. Elegant hotel close to the airport, but disant from most tourist areas. I would consider staying there again, but would likely opt not to pay the extra $$$ to stay in an ocean view room with about 45 degrees of ocean visable. Beaches were in terrible shape and in dire need of clean up. Also, one area of the hotel is under major renovation as was the pool area....quite a disappointment.

Staff very friendly with good customer service skills. Food great and well within the price range of the island. There was some property updates to the pools but did not interfere too much. Centrally located on the island. I got Married on the hotel property and everything was perfect. Would go back in a heart beat!

The hotel is under construction (converting to a condo complex). The management and staff have made every effort to make this "painless" for guests. We were impressed. We appreciated the $100 food credit (felt it was for any inconvenience caused by the work underway).

I feel that Expedia should notify their members when an hotel is under construction. I was very unhappy with the hotel, had to move our room three times because of the construction. The staff was very friendly and helpful, though I wasn't pleased with the condition of the hotel.

We stayed at the Kauai Beach Hotel and Resort for our 4 day honeymoon on Kauai. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly; our only complaint was the construction that was happening below our balcony and the fact that a majority of the pools were closed because of improvements. But, all and all it was a nice place to stay. Definitely go to the happy hour - the mai tais are pretty tasty, and the torch lighting ceremony was delightful.

Stayed 8 days for honeymoon. Rooms very clean and nice - still have construction in progress but in no way interfered with our stay. Valet parking is great - restaurants good - hotel staff friendly - we loved the free drinks 5-6 then nightly show 6-7 outside - hotel is so convienent for travel to either side of island. Kayaking was a blast - loads of great beaches - rentals easy to get. We did wish their was a microwave in room and in room coffee was lacking - but got us up and out of the room for breakfast that much quicker to get our day started!

Overall, the service was good and the staff was helpful. The pool and grill/ bar area were very nice and relaxing. The hotel's location was also very convenient. However, the room we got was small and although we requested a "garden and mountain view" room, we got a room overlooking the parking lot with some plants around. The rooms do not have actual internet access and only dial up service is available if you use your own ISP. No high speed is available in the rooms and the cafe that offers the service charges by the hour and only has three connections available.

We went to Kuaui for the first time and stayed at this hotel because our friends were getting married. The hotel was very nice and overall, the staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet was great and held us over til dinner each night. There is no beach or swimming in the ocean in front of the resort. The free happy hour was pretty low-budget and the outside bar staff wasn't overly pleasant, but overall the location, condition of the hotel and grounds and the rest of the staff was totally worth it.

We just came back from Kauai (5/18/05-5/23/05) and our trip was wonderfull. The hotel location is the best since you can reach each end of the island in 40 min. is a wonderful drive and a lot to discover. Is close to Kaapa were you can find good restaurants and is close to waterfalls and the best luau! We highly recomend the Radisson. The only downside is that you cannot swim in the beach because of the currents, but there are beatiful beaches close and is an adventure to discovere them!

I very specifically wanted to go to a hotel/resort for this trip to Hawaii. I wanted a vacation that was actually a vacation ... where I could feel just fine about sitting by the pool drinking pina coladas and still have the option of walking by the beach and getting to other locations. This fit the bill perfectly. The concierges were incredibly helpful, we were in a great location for getting to shops, tour companys and all parts of the island (that are accessible by road). Our trip was a total success.

We especially enjoyed the sand bottom pool for our two small children. The ocean is not a place to swim, but having the sand and pool combination gave us a great morning of fun. The person who checked us in was very thoughtful in helping us choose a room that was kid friendly--the sliding glass door could not be opened by a small child.

The staff, on the whole was excellent. The linens on the bed weren't that great. The pool area needed some more shade. But the beautiful surroundings made up for everything. The hotel is in an isolated area- meaning there isn't hotel after hotel after hotel. It was almost a "free-standing" hotel . The beach area wasn't that great- but you could walk for miles along the beach. The four pools were good. Our stay included the breakfast buffet- which was really good- but got a little boring after having the same thing over and over again. But we would stay there again and again.

The hotel has four pools, evening entertainment and easy access to the beach were we sat and watched the sun and moon rise each day. Kauai offers much and prices were reasonable.

The hotel is beautiful, the food delicious. Activities offered were numerous. There is a fee to use the Exercise Facility. (Not too many were using it) The beach is not maintained, there was driftwood and garbage all around. The pool area is beautiful but the hot tub was not heated due to a part which had to be ordered. The bed was not comfortable(lumpy). As I've titled this review, the location is great, central to everything, if you want to tour the island this is the place to base your stay.

It wasn't a bad place to stay but I thought we were getting a more resort style hotel. The beaches that backed up to the hotel were dirty and not swimmable. The staff at the outside bar near the pool were almost rude. The inside staff were great. The Friday night buffet was very good also. When I booked this hotel, I thought I was 'upgrading' to a ritzy resort. I would not call it that.

Overall this hotel was very good. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived but the staff gave us a courtesy room. The pool area is beautiful. Very family friendly. Great for very young kids-toddlers, etc. The rooms were okay. The housekeeping required a phone call if you wanted your room done early. We came back to the hotel at 4:30 and our room was still not cleaned. Good entertainment every night at the pool. Free happy hour drinks from 5-6 pm was nice. The breakfast buffet was a good value. Our view was great-ocean view. The location was close to airport and in between Kapaa and Lihue. There were lots of restaurants in Kapaa. I would definitely stay here again!

The grounds of this hotel are really lovely, but when it rains for a few days straight, (as it can in the winter), the driveway and the parking lots flood a lot! They charge $6.25 per day for self-parking, and the water was a good 5-6 inches deep! Honest! A desk clerk told me there is no drain- so, I'd say this is a nice place to stay in the summer only :) The lighting in our room was really substandard, and clothes we hung in the closet became damp...(all that rain?) The fitness room charged $8/day and was really tiny - we couldn't go in because it was so overcrowded. On a positive note, the location on Kauai is good- very central for seeing the whole island, which is beautiful even in rainy weather. There was Hula entertainment almost every afternoon, during "Happy Hour", (free maitai's & beer), and 2x/week they offer a quaint family-run Luau in the ballroom there.

Thisis a lovely facility with four different pools. Staff was very friendly. The property and very well kept. The decor in the rooms was a little dark in color for my taste. They have a nice restaurant on property which serves a good menue selection for breakfast and dinner. Food was quite tasty. They offer a breakfast orientation which was very nice and was attended by local vendors to help you understand the trips or sites available on the island. There are so many things to do in Kauai that are time at the hotel was very limited. The hotel hosts a South Pacific performance by local community theater group on the property. It included a buffet and performance. Considering it was all local talent it was very well done.We would dedfinitely return.
