If you want to plan a family getaway that the whole family can enjoy, then you've got to go to the Welk Resort. It's a great place for Fun, Rest, and Relaxation. Not to mention great weather and landscapes.

When we arrived, our check in was quick and easy. We were actually able to check in 4 hours early. When we got to our room and opened the door, our whole bodies just relaxed. The jetted bathtub was wonderful as was the walk in shower. The kitchen was fully stocked and I was able to cook dinner with no problems. We were only able to stay one night, but are already planning to spend our next vacation there.

The grounds are lovely. We stayed in the fire place/ spa room and the furnishings were nice. They didn't mention we were in a basement (below grade) when we booked, request a ground level or 2nd level room. My 4 year old son had a great time with the pool and clubhouse complex, good for families with small children or seniors. I would not recomend it for singles. It is at least 20 min from anything intresting so plan on drivng or lounging around the resort. The staff all seamed unhappy, 4 of the personel complained about the managment to me without any provication. The bathroom was not very clean and houskeeping never came in the 5 nights we stayed. but, the kitchen and living areas were clean and well equipted. Overall much better than a standard hotel, but trying too hard to be a resort and not quite making it.

If your top priotity is space consider the Welk resort. The 2 bed villas are huge, well stocked and clean. Also the pools and other amenities were well done. What is lacking here is service of any kind. The welk experience is more like using a friends condo rather than going to a resort hotel so if you are looking for any pampering, room service, maid service, even daily towel changes this is not the place for you. If you need any sort of business service forget it! Another downside is the resort remote location--plan to drive 30-50 min for everything. The worst thing is the sales pitch you get as you check in. You will be directed to "concierge" which is really "pre sales". The only thing these folks will do is try to get you to a timeshare presentation. We actually attended becuase we were mislead into beliveing we were going on a tour and orientation of the property--a very distasteful, dishonest tactic! Although the space for our family of 5 was nice due to the lack of service, remote location and sales pitch, we will not return to the Welk Resort.

We thoroughly enjoyed this resort. We like to stay at vacation rentals and this was one of the best so far. There was plenty of room and nice furnishings. This is a quiet resort that has great views of the mountains. The 3-par Oaks golf course has a good package deal for families, but it was a little cramped. The maid service was sporadic, but the unit was easy to keep clean. (It had everything in it that you would need.) We would definitely return to this resort. It was close enough to plenty of things to do and easy to get to from I-15. It was a gated resort and extremely safe.

The Welk Resort was the second part of our vacation. We started with Disneyland and then drove to the resort a short 1 1/2 drive. These are condos more then a traditional hotel room. The room we selected had the spa tub and it was wonderful. Our room was very large consisting of a full kitchen with a washer and dryer in unit! The living room had a sofa bed which my daughter used (I tried it out myself and it was surprisingly comfortable). The living room led out to the patio with a great view of the golf course. The master bedroom was nicely decorated with a TV. of its own. The bathroom was huge it had a separate shower stall with two shower heads, and the toilet was separate stall area. There were two sinks and a shaving mirror and the spa tub is heaven. The pool was my family's favorite we were located next to the one with the "water park". The water park consisted of a several colorful fountain devices and while the water is a little cold still fun. The water slide is a nice plus and it is great for all young and old. The pool was warm and can be enjoyed late into the evening as it is open until ten. Try Mr. W a little pricy but family friendly and fun. The resort offers a mini mart, pizza place, sandwich shop and ice cream parlor all very good. We stayed only three nights but next time we plan to stay at least a week. Not near San Diego a good 45 min drive w/o traffic but a great place to go all on its own.

The hotel worked great for us because it is difficult to find a suite or condo with 2 separate bedrooms & bathrooms. We all had more privacy and could share the common areas of living room, dining area & kitchen. I appeciated having the stackable washer/dryer which was not listed in the amenities. The paint & decor could stand some updating and the outdoor common areas could use some improved maintenance in some areas. The grounds were beautiful. The pool areas and locker rooms could use some work. Overall, we had a lot of fun and the accomodations worked for us.

The Welch Resort was very disappointing especially for an 11 year old. The 140 foot water slide turned out to be an "insurance correct" slide that emptied into a bathtub perfect for young children but not for anyone who has ever enjoyed the waterslides of Hawaii or Windsor Waterworks. The villa itself had plenty of room but the color scheme is old and dated with wall paper throughout. The worst thing is that everything closes down at 7:00 p.m. including the pizza joint. Perhaps that is why it is for either the very young or very old!
