Both the old towers and the new are beautiful. The hotel has a great casino, wonderful restaurants, excellent shopping, fun things to do (IMAX, shows, lounges, etc.)and is close to the boardwalk and beach. There was great service everywhere, as well. Whether you go for a night or stay for a few, you are guarenteed to have a good time.

We stayed at the Tropicana for one night during the weekend, and am happy to say it was just one night. The room although clean, was outdated, the beds were either stiff as a board or old and springy. "On the boardwalk" is somewhat misleading, as there are 4 towers to the hotel, make sure you get a room in the towers on the boardwalk. We were able to get a room with a decent view of the city and view of the ocean seen between the other buildings. Going to the pool will require walking through the casino and up into the other towers. The best part was The Quarter in their new Havana tower, but you can experience this without staying here. Experiences are subjective, not everyone has a good or bad stay.

The Tropicana has done a terrific job capturing the flavor of tropical Havana. We stayed in renovated West Tower and our room was nicer than our moderate-hotel stay in Vegas. Arrive early for check-in; we experienced a one hour wait on line, though, line moves quickly. Even then, housekeeping were still cleaning room when we arrived at approx. 3:45pm. Terrific restaurants and shopping within hotel. The food at PF Chang's was especially enjoyable and so affordable.

The room was large and comfortable. It was definitely the nicest place in Atlantic City; the shopping in the attached Quarter was very good. The cold water didn't work (but was fixed promptly) and it was difficult to get a bell hop to help with the luggage at check in. I'd definitely stay here again.

The Tropicana gives the feeling of being in Las Vegas, but right on the ocean. We thought it offered quite a bit in services (even though the casinos were closed--thanks New Jersey!). We took our small kids and were pleseantly surprised by the family atmosphere.

The hotel itself was sufficient for what it was but not appropriate for families. The beach smelled foul, was covered with rotting small mussells, and the pool was small and crowded. Even a block away in the lobby the odor was overpowering. Indoors was relatively clean and odor free.

Upon check-in, discovered that wrong room was booked (requested a smoking room, a non-smoking room was booked).. Had to wait 20 mins. for alternate room. The room finally found was filthy, with discarted food found on floor; no soap, and very few towels. Bathroom was disgusting with dirty floor. Front desk person was very rude and totally uncaring.

The Tropicana was a great place to stay at a very good price. I should mention that we booked our room almost two months in advance which saved us a lot. The hotel parking was a good distance away from our room but that was minor compared to all the good things. Lots of places to eat, plenty of gambling varieties and right on the boardwalk. To get the best prices time your stay for during the week as the weekends are much more pricey for the same room.

We stayed from July 3rd to July 4th, and enjoyed every minute of it. Even though we checked in way late(11:30pm), the receptionist was super friendly, and allowed a late checkout since we got there so late. The room was large and had two TV's, was very clean and had a jacuzzi style tub that we didn't even know we would be getting. The best part is the new Quarter, where you can get an authentic Mojito and even smoke(!) on the balcony at Cuba Libre, and then minutes later get some fresh sushi or fresh fruit from the little grocery type store that seemed to be open 24 hours a day. They even had an Old Farmer's Almanac store, which I loved. Corky's, a bar/grill, was open all night, which was great for people who like to stay up all night. All in all, we definitely would stay there again.

Back from brief getaway where we were delighted with Tropicana's many dining options from Carmine's to Cuba Libre, The Palm, Red Square & PF Chang's... something to suit everyone's culinary cravings... wish we had time to try the dessert restaurant Brulee, featuring dramatic & entertaining flaming tableside creations, opting for Trop's wonderful Imax theater experience to see Superman instead. Our room in the Havana Tower was pleasant, well-maintained, very clean, & provided all ammenities. One suggestion for improvement with regard to the rooms is to add a small sofa or loveseat along the window-wall for more comfortable, relaxed seating after a day at the beach or an evening in its high-energy casino! The Tropicana appeals to all ages, from families with young children, to club-hopping 20-somethings, as well as the more mature (& well-traveled) guests. It is perfectly located, opening out onto Atlantic City's famous boardwalk & beach where you can rent lounge chairs, umbrellas or cabanas for the day. The hotel's shopping promenade is easily the best AC has to offer with designer goods & merchandise catering to all tastes & budgets, & we can never leave without making a purchase at Rittenhouse Square of Philadelphia, whose sophisticated & savvy proprietor offers a beautiful selection of accessories for the home. Service in general was impeccable throughout the hotel. It was short, but sweet....and we'll be back to the Tropicana! Great value for the money!

The Tropicana is one of the best places to stay in Atlantic City. To begin, the Quarter with the neatest restaurants and shops offers a great place to dine and hang out. The location does not get much better than this - only a block from the beach and boardwalk and not too far from the exciting beach bars. The rooms are very comfortable while the bathrooms are extremely spacious. For a great room, awesome location, and terrific restaurants, thr Trop is the best. In addition, the rates were spectacular for a Friday in Atlantic City.

I spent 5 nights at the Trop with my 4 yr old daughter late June 06. We checked in on a Sunday Afternoon and I couldn't believe the amount of people on line before us waiting to check it.. it moved quite quickly but was very off-putting. We had to walk miles to our room (West Tower) including going through the Casino. The room was clean and comfy. If travelling with kids ask for the South Tower with an ocean view. Lines and trekking through the Casino aside, we enjoyed our stay but were a disappointed that the outdoor pool doesn't open until July!

The hotel was great, I stayed in the Havana Towers and from what I heard from hotel staff I made the right choice!!! This is a newly renovated wing and the floors only begin on the 51st floor so the views are spectacular. The staff was great, we arrived at 10pm and they had no problem with a 2pm check out which they happily changed to 330 upon request. This was not due to being an excessive gambler. I didn't even register to receive a Tropicana card. I have been to Vegas quite a few times and this hotel was the closest I came to find a Vegas quality experience. hope this helps

Staff are efficient and friendly. The "Quarter" which houses an IMAX theater, stores and restaurants is excellent. However the hotel rooms are deplorable. They are like something out of the 1950's, and are in desperate need of new carpet and paint . My advice: visit the Tropcana, but don't stay there.

This is my third time staying at The Tropicana, specifically The Havana Tower. This hotel has a great deal to offer. The staff is friendly and the lobby area is immaculate. The hotel has an atrium called the Quarter which has a Spanish flair, with many restaurants and shops. The casino is nice and clean. The room was spacious with a view of the boardwalk and the city. Housekeeping staff quickly brought up extra pillows and towels when requested. Parking was located close to the hotel with a minimal charge. It was great fun! Will continue to stay at this hotel.

The Tropicana has literally a million things to do, with dozens of restaurants and stores presenting fun for guests of all ages. Gambling practically becomes secondary to walking around the promenade. The rooms, however, are VERY basic and no-frills. For the price, they are NOT representative of a higher-end hotel, and offer little more than a hotel of less than half the price. Face it: here, you're paying to be close to the boardwalk. I'd only recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the action, and have lots of restaurant possibilities under one roof.

The Tropicana in AC is the best hotel/casino in AC if you want the most options for bars, clubs, restaurants, and entertainment. The newly added Quarter at Tropicana is amazing, with all types of bars (Irish, Russian, karaoke, Cuban) and food. The check-in for the hotel, however, is a miserbale nightmare. I stood in line for half an hour to check-in. The rooms are nice, but nothing to write home about. Don't go for the rooms, go for the party!!!
