Doubletree Pittsburgh Review - solid hotel for the price

I had a bit of difficulty finding the place (small doubletree logo out in front of the bldg), but once I did, check-in was very smooth. Required valet parking was expensive ($18 + $2 tip) Rooms are clean and quite large. Small plastering work needed in my adequate sized double. Comfort is *excellent* - large bathroom with soft white clean bath mats, nice fuzzy towels, and a clean shower. Bedding was exquisite with 6 fresh pillows on a comfortable mattress. Overall, an excellent hotel and approaches a luxury / upper tier hotel at a much more appropriate price.

Hotel amenities were excellent, great staff overall except for the shuttle service to Heinz Field. Expected to be picked up after game in a timely manner, didn't happen but other than that would recommend the hotel for anyone spending time in Pittsburg.

Recently (August 6, and 7 2005) stayed here on a family roadtrip vacation. Hotel is still under construction (they are becoming a double tree). Despite tricky manuvering in the temporary registration area, the staff was extremely helpful. The pool at the attached health club (free swiming for guests) was great. The location outstanding right across from the subway stop. A medium walk to PNC park if you like walking. The rooms were good but not yet completed (no bathroom mirror, or mini fridge). I would definitley stay here again.

All staff members were professional and helpful. Courtesy van was very good to have on a rainy day. Nice part of town, only about a mile walk from PNC Park. We stayed in a new room on the 4th floor and everything was great except no microwave or frig.

I did not know that this hotel was undergoing a renovation. Therefore, some of the floors were covered in plastic in order to protect the newly installed carpet. Due to the renovations, there was no restaurant service, but the hotel did offer shuttle service to surrounding restaurants. They also served a continental breakfast. I stayed in a newly renovated room. It was of average quality and comfort. The walls are extremely thin...I could hear the conversation of my neighbor. All in all, this was an average hotel. This is the place to stay if you are solely looking for convenience.

I have recently stayed at the Ramada on two separate occasions and have been completely satisfied. The only negative comment I would add is that service in the restaurant during my last visit was bleak and the food was horrible. Otherwise all else was fine.

All the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was quite large, very clean, and comfortable except for the temperature which was too warm and could not be controlled from within the room. Location was convenient to Mellon center and downtown shopping. My only serious complaint was with the restaurant. Because of the schedule of my activities I did need to eat nearly every meal in the hotel restaurant and although the food was good the service was EXTREMELY slow. Wait staff was friendly but they clearly didn't have enough staff for the demand.
