The Eastland Park is situated in the Old Port section of Portland. Indeed, it is close to downtown shopping, the portland Market, and the wonders of Commercial Street. It is older, dating back to the 1920's. Overall, this is a great choice-comfort and location are emphasized here. The Eastland is undergoing some rennovations at this time.

nice downtown location walking distance to everything in portland maine. hotel built in the 1920s. needs a lot of renovation. elevator shut down for hours because of a fire alarm, have to take service elevator, same thing!!, the problem is we got stuck on the way up, luckily,we made it back down.i have to use the stairs all the way up to the 9th floor. front desk guy was'nt apolegetic about what happened at all. safety is questionable. in summary, go somewhere else safe...or stay at your own risk; better and newer hotels are conveniently located around the area.

This hotel is run down. The entire hotel smells like smoke even if you are in a non-smoking room. I would never stay at this hotel again. We requested a non-smoking, non-pet, king size bed room, they put us in a smoking room. After asking to change, they put us in a non-smoking double bed room. They ran out of king size bed rooms. I was 7 and half months pregnant and the double bed was very difficult to share with my husband.

Very charming Had read some of the negative remarks from others and was a little concerned. NO NEED TO BE! The hotel was very pretty and clean, The room was very comfortable and I had absolutely nothing to complain about. In fact, the location is the best in the old port area because it is on the edge of the district (within walking distance to anything in the old port district you might want to see). If we had stayed right on the water there are plenty of cool things we would have missed by not walking past them to get to the marina. Definietly recommend!!

Found the lobby and general condition of the hotel nice. Staff was extremely helpful-- great service. The parking garage elevators (not hotel property but the only convenient place to park) was poorly maintained.

Very quaint nice hotel. We stayed there for 8 nights while visiting our daughter. Room is small, but comfortable. Staff was very professional and accommodating. Our only concerns were that one of the days our room was not cleaned, and if you use valet parking, there can be a long wait to find a valet to pick-up or bring you you car to you. Parking on the street is scarce, so to use valet parking you are charged 15.00 a day.

We were not really antipating anything too great for the price right in Portland. But the room was really lovely - spacious, clean, with a sort of old fashioned luxurious feel to it. We were able to walk easily to the waterfront, there were excellent restaurants nearby, and the top floor lounge sports a terrific view. The free wireless connection is a terrific plus as well. We would not hesitate to go back.

My daughter and I spent 4 nights at the Eastland Park Hotel in May and had a wonderful time despite the cold and rainy weather. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, professional and friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice with large vanity area, and very nice decor. Beautiful lobby. Found the business center very convenient to check our airline reservations departure time. We loved Old Port, Demillos Restaurant, Trolley Tour, Longfellows Museum, and would reccomend "Norm's Restaurant" right around the corner for lunch. We ate there twice and had the best Pastrami & Swiss, homemade french fries and Portabello mushrooms. Very pleasing quiet atmosphere and excellent service. Just wish we had rented a car to see more of South Portland and surround areas. Loved Portland, would like to visit again definitely.

It's an older downtown hotel that has a lovely lobby, but the rooms and elevators show the age. The bath tub was yellowed and stained and the toilet seat was pitted and cracked. When the bathroom light was turned on, it sounded like a turbine. I would have hated to be in the room beside the ice machine because I think it ran on diesel it was so loud.

The only dissatisfaction was the parking. It was necessary to use public parking next door to the hotel. Cost $15.00 a day with a validated ticket the cost was $10.00 a day. That is high considering you may want to exit the hotel more than once a day for various reasons. Parking at the curb was also a problem - availalilty not always there.

The Eastland dtill bears traces of what must have been a grand past, but the impression is slightly shabby and down at the heels. The she front desk is friendly enough but unprofessional. The place seems a little understaffed. There is a comfortable rooftop lounge with great views but the windows were cloudy. THe lobby restaurant is dark a depressing and served a greasy breakfast. The room was large and clean and comfortable but there was a bit of mildew in the bathroom . Over-all -they just miss the mark.

Lobby has been re-done and is in nice shape. However, the common areas, specifically the corridors on some of the sleeping levels, are sorely in need of attention. Several room numbers were written on the wall with a pen. The window in my room was broken so that you could remove it. This is an older hotel (ca. 1927 I believe) which could be spectacular with some work. But it definitely needs the work.

But...I noticed there are three sets of stairs to climb to get to the front desk. If you have a lot of luggage or are handicapped, I think there would be some difficulty. Overall, the service was pleasant except that we called guest service to ask for toothpaste twice and never got any. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have brushed our teeth. The lounge staff was great, the restuarant employees nice and the food came out quickly.

My wife and I recently enjoyed our visit to Portland and spent 3 nights at the Eastland. We were very satisfied with the hotel, especially the 'roof lounge' with it's wonderful view of Portland. The restaurant and gift shop were nice although a bit pricey. Look for the fuzzy, locally, hand-sewn scarves in the gift shop. We did a great deal of walking on our trip. Seeing "EASTLAND" high above the other buildings served as our compass.

The Eastland Park Hotel recently was renovated. It's a nice boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. The place has quite a history and offers some interesting architectural detail. The lounge on the top floor has a nice view and I had a few good meals in the restaurant adjacant to the grand lobby. The room was comfortable in a 3-star kind a way; great bedding and well appointed, yet it lacked the style and polished look that I was expecting. The main drawback was the noise from outdoors. Being situated in the core of downtown it seems that there was quite a bit of yelling of vulgarities and car screaching noises late at night. I would stay there again, but only after exploring other options.

The Eastland Park is a grand hotel from the 1920's with a gorgeous lobby, stunning views from its classy rooftop bar and an unusually helpful staff. If you are drawn to Maine and Portland for an unDisneyfied travel experience, consider this hotel: we found it on our 2d trip to Portland and now stay nowhere else. The building is old and occasionally shows its age, but our rooms have been consistently well-appointed and nicely maintained by the staff. It's right across the street from the art museum and a short walk to shopping and restuarants in the Port.

The location of the Eastland Park was great if you want to be close to the action of downtown Portland. The old port and commercial districts are all within walking distance. Parking was conveinent too since the garage is adjacent to the hotel and its only $10 for guests ($20 Regular). Also there is a bar right in the lobby and the Top of the East lounge is awsome! Great view of the whole greater Portland area from comfortable leather sofas! We had requested 2 roll-a-way beds which were not in our rooms when we arrived. There were only two people working in the entire hotel so I eneded up having to go with one to get the beds. Got a great tour of the hotel in the process. The gentleman was very helpful and after about 45 minutes we had our beds. The women at the desk gave us a complimentary breakfast at the resurant in the lobby. A savings of about $28 for 4 people. The room was very spacious, but the TV was small and one of the windows was stuck open which made it kind of cold considereing it was only 18 degrees outside! We managaed to fix it though for the second night.Overall I would reccomend this hotel to someone who is looking for a downtown place to stay, and who is on a tight budget. The Top of the East Lounge is a must if you do stay. I would stay there again anytime!

My husband and I had a miserable day of traveling because of the weather in the northeast, but when we arrived at the hotel we explained what had occurred and they actually gave us a room upgrade. I can't say enough about the rooftop bar. The hotel is the tallest building in Portland, so the rooftop bar is amazing in that you look out over the entire city and port at night with all the lights--it's gorgeous! Because the hotel is right in the city there is a daily surcharge for parking your car and that is not mentioned anywhere before purchasing this hotel, so expect to add about $10-$15/day for parking. Otherwise, it was a great stay and we plan to return.

The rooms have wonderful views of the city, and there is rooftop pub with even more. HOWEVER, there are two signifcant gripes I have with the place: no minibars in the rooms, and a miserable parking situation. The parking situation was bad enough that my wife would probably not want to stay there again. (Expensive and inconvenient).

I must say....when I saw the online description and picture of the hotel, I was a bit skeptical. To me, it seemed a little "too pet" friendly. And, as I drove up to the place, my feelings were not entirely allayed. However, when I opened the door to my room, I was more than pleased. The rooms were spacious and well laid out, as was the bathroom. My ONLY complaint was with the quality of the food that I received from food service. The price charged was not aligned with the portion/quality of food received. The staff was friendly and helpful. Be prepared to pay for you
