Very clean and modern room. Room was exactly the way it looked in th epictures which is comforting. A lot of times they aren't. Bed very plush, thick and comfortable. Great view of the hustle and bustle of the lobby from the room (we were on the interior ring of rooms, outdoor view are available too). Front desk and restaurant workers very friendly. Fitness facility was decent. Enough dumbbells, weight machines and cardio machines to get in a good enough workout while away from your home gym. Very affordable rates for this modern and classy of a hotel. Probably because it is not in downtown Minneapolis. Although it is just 15 minutes away by car which is fantastic. The carpeting in the lobby and halls of the hotel were out of date and a tad on the dirty side. That's not a big complaint. Just an observation. The floor in the room was fine.

It has been 10 years since I stayed at the Minneapolis Sofitel on business, and always enjoyed it. The service remains gracious and prompt...however, I was absolutely wowed by the rooms which have just been redone. Double doors lead to a spacious beige tiled bathroom with etched mirror, granite countertops and dark wood accents. Then in the main room you find a cherry, oak and dark wood headboard built into the entire wall, featherbeds and down comforters, with a huge flat panel TV and a curved back chaise rounding out the room. As my 8-year old daughter said, "What a fancy room!" The beds were absolutely plush and we both overslept. Overall it was kind of an art deco feel with a zen twist. We didn't have time to frequent the restaurant, but I'd stay again in a minute! Based on the rooms, I would have expected to pay 3-4 times the rate I paid through Expedia - an excellent value!

It appears that our assigned room had been vacant for awhile as it was a bit dusty. Other than that, we loved the hotel. Bed was a huge king sized feather bed, bathroom had great smelling soaps and shampoos. Shower head was totally adjustable for those who are tall. The hotel was entirely non-smoking, even the bar! LOVE IT! We could acutally go into the lounge, order a bottle of wine and not come out smelling like a bar. Location was easily accessible from the highway, but that was also the view. Food in the restaurants was fabulous.

Sofitel is a very nice European hotel. It looks to cater to business customers, so we got a good deal on a Friday/Saturday stay. The rooms are large, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The reclining couch was a nice touch. The two hotel restaraunts are really good. They are high end, and priced accordingly, but the food was good. There are also some less expensive chain's like Chili's and TGIFridays, close by. If I can get a deal like this again, I will definately be returning.

This hotel has just been newly remodeled and the things that matter are here. Great beds, Great service. A European flair. We were only in for a night and enjoyed the bar and the bakery. The view wasn't good, but the location dictated this, and also the parking lot was full of boxcar storage containers due to the remodeling. Loved the flat screen tvs, and the bathrooms were clean and nicely done. The double doors were sweet. I would definitely stay again.

Although the room was very comfortable and the bed was just right, the service was horrible. Upon arrival at 4pm the breakfast trays from room service still cluttered the hallway. The wine glasses from Friday night littered the lounge area until Saturday night (a full 24 hours). I asked for an extra blanket which arrived at least three hours later (after we left). We tried the patisserie connected to the hotel, and the service was excrutiatingly slow. One worker explained that they were short staffed. Also when I requested room service for breakfast, I was not given the cafe au lait as requested (I figured it would be good at a French hotel). When I called back for the au lait (milk) part, it was sent to me cold!!! It is always warm/hot in France so that your drink stays warm/hot. One would not think that one has to explain this in a French hotel. Despite the comfortable bed, I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel was attractive; the spacious lobby an arresting feature. The rooms were large and comfortable and well appointed. Internet access worked immediately. I got the impression that it was free; however, upon my checkout there were two daily long distance charges which I assume were for the Internet service. The restaurant aimed at the high end, but the outdoor patio tables fronted onto a parking lot. They could have taked up a few feet of the lot outside the restaurant and created a screened-in patio with live trees or something to visually block the acre of asphalt out there. My meal was acceptible; slow paced, the restaurant was barely occupied - service always seems to slow down under those circumstances. My tenderloin had been butterflied; I hadn't requested that. The only reason I can imagine was that someone forgot to put the order in and then the cook had to rush it to get it out to me on time. Since this is a suburban hotel I'd imagine you'd have to have a rental car. I saw no signs of public transportation, although I'm sure there's some bus service out there of some sort.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean. I loved the bedding. You always get a clean duvet, not one of those generic comforters that hundreds of people have already slept in. It's a much cleaner feeling. I usually don't rate hotels because 95% are very average or below average, including the 4 and 5 star hotels. This hotel is worth remembering for future stays. I would definitely say that this hotel is superb in every aspect. (Try their restaurant, La Fougasse for brunch on Sunday, one word, exquisite.)
