This hotel has problems with providing hot water, cleaning its rooms, and maintaining its air conditioners! Also, be warned that there are actually two buildings to this hotel, and that you need to specify the main building unless you prefer an unstaffed motel with no front desk. I had to take a cold shower one morning. When I called the front desk to see if someone could fix the problem, the attendant said she was the only person at the hotel and therefore no one could help me. This hotel is too large for there to be only one person on duty at any given time. The carpet in my room was filthy in front of the refrigerator, as if there was a leak and no one properly cleaned up the spill. The air conditioning unit was loud. At times I could even hear the air conditioners from adjacent rooms. There's a lack of freshness to the place. My room had a stale smell. One of the tennis court nets was broken, and a the glass globe at the top of a lamppost was broken. In summary: I would never stay at this hotel again.

Before we went, we read all the reviews and despite the overwhelming "boo" this hotel got, we were running out of less expensive choices. I went in there so scared- but was overwhelmed by the exaggeration of past reviewers!!!!! This hotel is great if your main purpose is teh touristy stuff and the beach!!!! Rooms and bathrooms very clean, across the street from BEAUTIFUL beach and down the road to large shopping area!!!! Location is great and we do not look to spend a lot of time in the hotel so maybe we are different than most. I tell you though, we were very happy for the price- especially because it was a spontaneuos last minute trip!! The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful.

I needed an early check-in so that I could make my 2:30 tee time at harbour town. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and found me a room very quickly that the staff had just cleaned so that we could place our bags in the room and make it over to the course with plenty of time left to prepare for our round of golf. Great location as well. Less than 5 min from Sea Pines and good restaurants are right down the street.

seriously, as i type, i have nail polish on 15 or so chigger bites on my legs. when i checked in i wasn't even sure the room had been cleaned [paper on the floor and some other little tip offs]. if i hadn't already known all other area hotels were packed, i would have left immediately. also of note, AC in the room did work but not in the hallways--they were humid and oppressively hot!

The good thing it is a 1/10 of a mile from the beach. The room was alright besides the mattress being as hard as a rock. You can tell the hotel is alittle bit older. Hotel service was nice. Alot of good places to eat and golf courses if you like to play. Not much else to do there though but to relax on the beach.Parking is limited in the area and if your going in the peak months expect some problems. I went in may so it wasn't as crowded.

Perfect location, across from great beach. The condition of the hotel is quite run down. The pub off the lobby, was dark, grungy, and outdated. I would NOT eat anything in there, and had little to choose from; cheap wine! The room we had was just okay, the sheets were clean, but blankets were questionable, there was an extra blanket in beaureau drawer with something gross on it. The bathroom was clean, but broken soap dish in shower. I HAD to wear slippers at all times, as the rugs were vaccumed, but not sanitary. We used the pool everyday, which was clean and maintained quite well. My biggest complaint, was the pub, and all the towels should be replaced with new ones, very worn and discolored. This hotel DEFINITELY needs to be updated!!!

I've visited Hilton Head Island many times, but these were the worst accommodations I've ever had. The hotel wasn't terribly bad, but it certainly has a long way to go to meet Hilton Head standards. The rooms need serious updating, and there was a pervasive odor in the room, much like it might have previously been a smoking room. The housekeeping service was anything but up to standard. Having to call and go to the front desk 3 times for a roll of bathroom tissue is uncalled for. Unmade beds are uncalled for. Parking was terrible. As it is said, you get what you pay for.

Initially we called for directions and were told that they could help us. We had to wait until 3:30 pm to check in because our room was not ready. They didn't have our reservation. They did not clean my room the entire 3 days. The pool was closed while all other hotel pools were open. It was awful.

We found this hotel on the Expedia website, and the pictures and reviews looked good enough for the price, but we learned the hard way - pay attention to all the details other travelers mention! This hotel was run down, and other guests kept us up until 4am (tried to ask mgmt to ask our neighbors to hold down the party but no one ever answered the front desk phone). Do not stay at this hotel if you want any kind of rest and relaxation, or an enjoyable, adult vacation. We were very disappointed and would never return - even if the room was free.

By far the worst hotel I've stayed in. Made us wait 3 hrs. to check in because no rooms were cleaned and when we got there found beer bottles with cigarette butts in them, moldy wrapper, and ashes all over the floors. Couldn't get towels when needed because they didn't have any ready, our lock never worked and had to go to the main building to get the key reset, had to wait 2 or more hrs for any request, terrible customer service, no trash bags. Aweful hotel! Do not recommend. Felt like I was in a dorm not a hotel on HH.The manager has no idea how to run the building. Absolutely horrified by our stay. I could go on and on about how terrible it was. Do not stay there you will be disgusted. Other people were checking out early to go elsewhere for similar reasons.

We found this hotel on the Internet - the second most reasonable on the list. (We rejected the first because of a review that involved extra-large cockroaches.) It was roomy, convenient and comfortable. Everything worked! Lots of counter space in the bathroom - comfortable king-size bed, much storage everywhere (including a LARGE closet) - with fridge, microwave, coffeepot, ironing board and iron, TV. Sliding door to mini-balcony for fresh air.

We had a great experience for the money. I would not say it was 'great' for the in-season price. We did not appreciate the name of the lounge. Semi obscene. With all the names they could choose, why coose something with a double entendre? Maybe it's cute to some but not to us.

Kitchenette, bring your own pots, pans, silverware, place settings. Complimentary lotion was used. Found articles of clothing on the floor of the first room, requested a different room. Was put in a part of the hotel that was old and the pool near this part was not for this hotel, never did find the one that was suppose to there for guests. Complained to manager at check out and got a "sorry". I requested cooking utensils and they were never brought up. Requested smoking room, no ashtray's and when I requested those, no response. Poor service, bad attitudes, and the beach is across the street, but probably more like a mile not a hop skip and jump. I was very dissatisfied with the whole experience.

Our stay was scheduled 5/7 - 5/11. We decided to a day early and stay at an ocean front/ ocean veiw hotel for that one night. We paid almost as much for one night as our entire stay at the Plaza. The room at the Plaza was much larger and cleaner. The restaurant and lounge were great as were the people who ran them. We had a wonderful vacation.

The hotel smelled like smoke and bourbon. The room was drab and dark and the parking was terrible. If you aren't there early enough at night to park in one of the few spots near the building you have to park down the street and walk back, which is not ideal after dark. And you can't even see the beach from this place.

We booked the trip to bringinthe new year. I was excited to read that the hotel was "across the street" from the beah, but was angry when I got there and found out its location. You cross a BUSY four-lane road, no cross-walks or lights, then walk through another hotels yard, then your on a path to the beach. The hotel also needs to re-evalute its parking situation. The hotel does NOT have enough parking. we had to park down the road, and in front of another hotel. And yes, that was the designated parking lot for OUR hotel! This hotel was "OK" for us, but not for kids and anyone thinking the hotel is 'close to the Beach'. However, the price of the hotel was good.
