| The Century Wilshire is a small hotel converted many years ago from an apartment building. Its small scale and attentive staff give it a warm, intimate atmosphere. The lobby has fragrant, fresh flowers and a reception desk staff who really seem to know you. We had a reasonably priced large suite on the first floor with a full kitchen and a back door from the bedroom opening onto the center courtyard. Morning breakfast was served in a cheery converted apartment also facing the courtyard. A guest played the grand piano in the lobby several nights while we were there. Basement parking is tight but close and convenient. Problems are the single elevator that is small and very slow and noise.

| This was a great hotel to stay at for my leisure trip to LA. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance at Westwood Village. Buses going right by the front door. The complimentary breakfast was certainly enough for me and pleasantly presented. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with huge closets. The walls are pretty thin and I could hear people walking around in the room above me. My only complaint is I wish the hotel was closer to the rail system. Definitely value for money though.

| I stayed here several years ago and returned because I remembered that it had an "old LA" charm. While the grounds are still charming, my room wasn't. The carpet was dirty, the bathroom wasn't properly maintained and I actually wore my flip-flops in the shower because the floor looked as though it hadn't been scrubbed in a very long time. Old, sagging mattress. I don't know, but it felt to me as though the place is waiting for the bulldozer to arrive (it's flanked by newer luxury highrises). If you do stay here, ask for a room in back. The noise from Wilshire Blvd and the parking lots adjacent to the front of the hotel is relentless.

| The hotel is quaint, obviously very old and has not been updated in some time. However, thats the great thing about it. It's very homey and comfortable. Although it has been rated low as a hotel, as a hostel it would be at the highest level. I think this hotel fits the budget conscious, friendly traveler. Someone who is looking for a kind, exuberant staff without all of the posh, nose in the air atmosphere. The employees here are all happy, kind-hearted and friendly. As a management specialist I know that this is the hallmark of an honest, loyal company. My room boasted an enormous bathroom complete with stand-alone shower, and a comfortable tub. The suite also came with a full working kitchen (with window) and all the dishes and cookware I needed. This suite was a home away from home. I couldn't be more satisfied. The variety of ethnicities and the mix of family, business, and backpackers was wonderful. Morning breakfast was the best time of the day to sit back and people watch. And the free parking was an added bonus in such an expensive city. The location is the best thing about this hotel. It's away from the irritations of downtown and moments from the heart of Beverly Hills. I fully recommend this hotel for those of us that enjoy the simple things in life.

| I did not have any problems to speak of at the hotel but it is an older hotel. The elevator is old and has severe weight restrictions. The pool is nice except that due to all the tall buildings around the hotel the sun does not get to warm up the water and it is not heated. The breakfast buffet was EXCELLENT. Overal it worked well for me because I was close to my destination but would not use for a leisure trip due to lack of extras.

| You've got to like the Century Wilshire for its time-warp value; it seems that nothing much has changed since its heyday and we liked it for that. Staff were obliging, breakfast was included in our rate but was so uninspiring that we wandered along to a superb cafe in Westwood instead. Our room was spacious and was at the rear, overlooking the huge pool and I suspect was a lot more restful than the rooms on Wilshire Bvd. It smelt sort of old and fusty. Recommended for the kinds of people who drive retro cars or if you're tired of all those boring middle-of-the-road hotels.

| This little gem of a hotel is an affordable option in a neighborhood where you can actually walk around. Close to LA sites like the Hammer Museum & pretty much in the middle of everything. Santa Monica is just a short drive away. When sitting by the pool, you get the true feeling you've gotten away from it all, despite being on a really busy street.

| This hotel met and surpassed my expectations. I had read mixed reviews and was uncertain to what I was getting into. If you want modern, it's not for you. But the lobby and courtyard are beautiful. Fresh flowers in the lobby and breakfast area are most welcoming. The pool area was fine (although the tall building next to it robs a few hours of sunlight.) The desk staff was friendly and knowledgable of local attractions and bus service. The breakfast was ample. The location was great, especially for activities at UCLA and anything on the bus line.

| Disappointing; physical condition of this grand building is bad; holes in the hallway ceiling, old furniture stacked in the stairwells, a leaking gas range in one room offered to us, poor door locks in the mini-suites, drawers that barely work, bathtubs so worn their surface is rough, housekeeping that didn't appear until 5pm each evening, free breakfast is basically toast and juice. Shortly after checking in we threatened to leave, but settled for a more updated room to avoid hassling with management over the room penalty.

| This is an old-fashioned hotel with a grand piano in the lobby and windows that open that has been refreshed and is very comfortable and well-located. There is a free continental breakfast and they will make you eggs for a small extra charge. Within walking distance of UCLA and Westwood Village and right off the 405 freeway. I highly recommend this for leisure travelers. Business travelers may find the lack of amenities like high speed internet, room service and a work-out room a problem. Extra bonus: free parking in a city where parking is a premium! There is also a sister hotel in Beverly Hills but I did not visit it. Hotel staff friendly and accomodating.

| Great place, good location, but parking sucks! I was there over Turkey week and it was practically impossible to find a spot in the hotel's garage. Furthermore, it is so narrow, my Navigator got horribly dinged (I hope I didn't get anyone else). They need to realize we American's need room for our SUVs.Also, breakfast might be great for all the Euro guests, but it left quite a bit to be desire for American tastes - NEEDS MORE!!!
