Four of us traveled to New Orleans for a long weekend, and stayed at the Hotel Monaco. We were extremely impressed with the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had lots of little touches to make it extra special. There were plush terry robes for each guest. Complimentary wine hour with a free chair massage was every day from 5:00 - 6:00. We would definitely return!

We had a chance to stay here during Jazz Fest and the only negative thing I can say about the hotel is that it seemed like they were somewhat understaffed for such a big weekend. Especially in the food and bar service area. However to be fair, everywhere we went that weekend seemed understaffed. The hotel itself was charming and had a warm cozy feel. The beds and pillows were super comfy, and the shower had great water pressure. We also loved our pet goldfish,(Jack)that was supplied to travelers without pets. We'll definately stay there again if our travels take us to New Orleans again.

The Good: Nice hotel, pleasant staff, room decor, CD player, and gold fish. The Bad: Broken iron that leaked all over my clothes, mini bar didn't work, and the floor squeaked no matter where you stood or walked. The Ugly: Toilet overflowed and after the plumber came to fix it, it took another call from us to housekeeping to come and mop up the wet floor; it wasn't timely.

We really enjoyed the design of the hotel and the little touches (i.e. complimentary pet goldfish). Goes more for a quirky, fun- but laid-back- atmosphere than for trendiness, which we appreciated. Looking forward to a return visit.

Very impressed. So glad we didn't stay in the Quarter. It was just far enough away we could walk to everything, but glad of location when we returned. Great comfortable beds, better than ours at home! Thanks for a great time!

We were impressed with the Hotel. There was some confusion with our reservation but they were very helpful. The resturant was very overpriced and the food selection was limited (my children were not impressed). It was an enjoyable stay.

A beautiful hotel with a friendly staff and the most comfortable bed and softest bed linens known to man. The rooms are not overly huge, but they are cozy. Don't forget breakfast at Cobalt, a bit pricey, but well worth it. Overall, a great hotel that I highly reccomend.

We loved everything except the lack of water pressure in the shower. The location is excellent. Rooms are comfortable. Morning coffee and evening wine plus the newspapers are a nice touch. We skipped the goldfish. The restaurant (Cobalt) is excellent. They will serve the bar menu in the restaurant. - Good for non-smokers. The gym is very nice.

Enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was close walking distance to French Quarter and Casino. Easy access to the trolly system. Expecially like the wine tasting 5-6pm - get to know other guests. You have to ask for the gold fish for your room.

Overall, the Hotel Monaco was a fabulous place to stay. Unfortunetly, there is a major problem with hot water, particularly on the upper floors. Over the course of a week, my husband and I each got one hot shower. Other guests complained of the same problem. To fully enjoy your experience, I'd recommend asking for a room on a lower floor!

Lovely lobby, nice rooms, comfortable beds, tiny bathrooms. Mediocre customer service. No hot water during our stay, not much effort to work with us to remedy. Requests to change rooms for hot water or even to get a goldfish required multiple requests. Hotel has complimentary coffee and wine but we weren't told....definitely needs to refocus on customer service.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Hotel Monaco between Xmas and New Year's Eve. We were very pleased with the accomodations and service. No problems checking in, although they had run out of goldfish for guests who did not bring their pets! I heard complaints about the cost of parking, but we did not have a car so it wasn't an issue for us. We ordered room service from Cobalt and the food was delicious. We loved New Orleans and when we return we will definitely stay there again! Very positive experience!

From the kitschy decor in the lobby to the goldfish (we named her Clio) on the bedside table, it was an impressive stay. The sitting room at the end of the vaulted foyer was something out of Arabian Nights and a perfect spot for my husband, college-aged daughter and I to talk after a visit to Cobalt. We stopped in for a drink on Saturday night and found the trio adequate, but then a customer stepped up to the piano and the jazz got hot with the band joining in. I loved the sponaniety. My daughter loved the leopard print robes in the rooms - a nice touch. We'll be back and will look for Kimpton Hotels in other cities we visit.

Beautiful hotel, with a non-traditional, exotic decor. The evening wine hour was very enjoyable, there was even a masseuse if you wanted a massage. The beds were very comfortable complete with down comforter and faux fur throw. Really nice leopard robes for lounging around the room. The staff was fabulous! Courteous, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay great. I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is located near the French Quarter and 3 blocks away from the casino. I would rate it as a solid 3 star hotel with a 4 star price. It is well maintained, the room was smaller than I expected and the bathroom was really tight. The staff was fine.

I found this to be an excellent hotel, with unique interior decor, friendly, attentive and courteous service. The location on St. Charles Avenue was ideal for sightseeing becuase of the proximity of the French Quarter and the Mississippi waterfront, all within comfortable walking distance. St.Charles Avenue being the route of the streetcar gives one the opportunity of using the streetcar (public transport) to explore the more distant "Garden" district in a liesurely manner.

The Hotel Monaco is a lovely place. I don't even know what I liked best-- it was a toss-up between the funky decor, the leopard bathrobe, the complimentary 5 p.m. wine, and the goldfish. No, wait, I loved the goldfish best, hands down. The Monaco is simply a pleasure, and definitely worth a visit.

This may be the best place I've ever stayed, period. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful but never underfoot. The "room" I reserved turned out to be a great suite. There was a shower and a two-person Jacuzzi in the bathroom, the living room had a 5-disc DVD/CD changer with home theater speakers (how many rooms have you stayed in with a subwoofer-equipped stereo?). The bed had plenty of down pillows. There are five elevators, which means no long wait. The restaurant and bar were first-rate interms of service, decor, and the quality of the food and drinks served. And in spite of all this sevice and elegance, the place was anything but stuffy. It was a fun place to stay. The location was just a couple of blocks from the French Quarter, in the business district. I look forward to my next trip to New Orleans, and intend to stay at the Hotel Monaco again.
