The only thing we were disapointed about was that there were no bathtub mats to keep you from slipping in the shower. The bed slept well.

The hotel was great. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very large. You were in walking distance from the french quarter and the trolley stopped right outside. Their free breakfast is great...they have waffles, eggs, biscuits, meat, everything you may need for breakfast.

The AmeriHost Inn and Suites suited our needs quite well during our stay in New Orleans. The rooms were large and spacious with plenty of room for 4+ people to sleep. A separate sitting room with kitchen (microwave, fridge, sink) had a pull out couch for additional sleeping area. The only problem we had was that we were near the service elevator, which was quite loud in the mornings. The people that we dealt with were quite friendly and efficient. The bellman in particular was wonderful--he remembered us and made a point of saying hello. He stored and retrieved our bags quickly and coordinated a taxi/van to get us back to the airport all with a smile. Great service. The hotel is north on Canal and is a bit of a walk from Bourbon Street and Jackson Square (1-2 miles). It's definitely close enough to walk to most sights, but it's not close enough for a stop-in during the day. The neighborhood also felt a little more run down than the rest of the town, but we (three women) didn't have any concerns walking down canal to get back at night. Overall, it was a good deal for the money.

The hotel itself was very nice and also very clean. I wasn't impressed though by the "crackerbox" of a room we were given and the size of the bed ( I don't think it was a Queen---probably a full size) Also, location not ideal... I don't think it was in a very good part of New Orleans. We were able to park our vehicle right across the street for a minimal fee of $12, which, from what I gather, is about 1/2 of what others in the area charge for parking. The continental breakfast in the morning was nice. It included your usual pastries, muffins, cereal, toast/bagels, and fruit, but also had waffles and biscuits and gravy. Overall it was a good hotel.

this hotel is just 4 blocks from Bourbon St on Canal, which made it very convenient (no cab rides necessary). However, the one block surrounding the hotel is a little rundown and sketchy ... but it's only 1 block. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the price is significantly lower than other hotels in the same area.

I was amazed at the quality of the hotel for the price. Very charming, decorated very well, all basic features in room with all the charm of an old building. Great location on Canal St with street cars passing in front for easy transportation and all the sites you expect to see. Parking only negative. They have a small lots for $12 next door and rest of guest park in garage behind hotel for $6.25 day (part of hospital garage) and you have to walk outside to get there. But for New Orleans, this is the cheapest parking I ever found. Normally it is $20-25 a day. If you have a choice at check-in, ask for room facing Canal St and not the "ally." Check in/out was the easiest and staff was helpful.

The Amerihost was better than I had expected. The location is the biggest drawback, I often just chose to cross the street immediately after leaving the hotel and walk to the French Quarter on the other side where there were fewer folks asking me for money. The room was a nice size, view was of the a/c units and a brick wall but really didn't matter much. Our room had a good number of tv channels in the bedroom, not so many in the little living room and our friends room only had a few channels on their tv, but who goes to NOLA and watches much tv. I'd stay there again if there weren't options more attractive to me but it wouldn't be one of my top 2-3 choices. But overall, for the price its worth staying.
