| Although a little pricey when compared to the nearby alternatives, the Disney Grand Californian makes up for it in quality of service, great food, cleanliness, staff friendliness, park early entry perks, and most of all, in it's convenient central location within the parks complex. Its location made it easy to venture into either Disneyland (less than 5 minute walk), the California Adventure Park (0-minutes), or Downtown Disney (0-minutes), get your fill of the crowds and heat, and then easily bail-out back to to the hotel to rest-up in the pool, the spa, the fitness center, or just lie around the room. It was a great way to rejuvenate the kids once they started to melt-down from the mad rush and heat in the Parks (which made my overall vacation much more enjoyable). After a few hours break/nap/snacks, we'd rush back in with a positive attitude and actually enjoy the park(s), unlike the hundreds of tired, cranky, bickering families that we'd run into late in the afternoon and in the evenings. Costs a few extra bucks, but it made all the differnce between an enjoyable trip and a tortuous ordeal. Hey, you can't take it with you!

| This was our first trip back to Disneyland since the 1980's - now with our grandkids. We wanted our stay to be memorable - Yes, this hotel is Very expensive, but it was worth it - the lobby is absolutely beautiful with its "Arts & Crafts" decor. There are many activities centered around the Grand fireplace for the kids (storytimes and sing-a-longs)The guest rooms are large and comfortable and nicely furnished. The pool area handled the large # of guests with ease. And staying here made getting around the 2 Parks very easy for us - you go out one door of the Grand Calif. and you are in Downtown Disney with all the shops and restaurants( and wonderful LIVE music at night),and it is just a short walk to the monorail, and you go out another door, and you are right in Calif. Adventure Park. Everyone on staff in the hotel was friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to make sure you are happy! I would recommend this hotel, even though it is very pricey, because of its beauty, its comfort, and the convenience of its location. It made our stay truly memorable.

| Overall, the hotel was very nice and we will most likely go back at one time or another. The rooms were not as nice as we were expecting, but the convenience of being so close to the Disneyland parks was worth the extra money. The extra perks that came along with staying at the Disneyland Resort were also nice (early entry into the park, location, shopping bags sent to hotel, etc.). The walls didn't seem to have much insulation, but that just allowed us to hear the piano playing down in the grand lobby!

| Just returned from a great five night stay at the Grand Californian. Our room was great. We had a standard view, but requested a view of the courtyard. It was quiet and serene. About every 20 minutes, the monorail quietly glided by. At night, we had a great view of the Disneyland fireworks above the roof line. The room was nicely appointed and very clean. The staff was always extremely helpful. We enjoyed Storytellers Cafe. The pool includes an active side with waterslide and a quieter side. There are two outdoor hot tubs. The lobby is 5 stories high and includes many sitting areas and a huge fireplace. There is a private entrance to the California Adventure theme park which is a major convenience. It won't be our last stay there - that's for sure.

| We really enjoyed Disney's Grand Californian. The hotel grounds and lobby are beautiful, and the rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The pools are nice with water slides for older and younger children, as well as a nice wading pool. We enjoyed using the easy entrance to California Adventure located within steps from the hotel, and the walk to Disneyland was easy (approx. 5 mins.). We took the monorail to Disneyland a few times, but I think walking would have been easier because you have to walk the opposite direction of Disneyland to go to the station and then wait for the next train. We also would walk back from Disneyland through California Adventure using the private entrance to the hotel, which seemed quicker. My parents also stayed at the hotel, and while they smoke and the hotel does not permit smoking, I thought the smoking area provided for smokers was nice. The outside smoking area is away from other guests, but has a fireplace, heaters, and has a nice view of the grounds. If I had to provide a suggestion to the hotel, it would to provide free coffee in the lobby to hotel guests. There is a place that serves expensive coffee in the lobby. I think for the price you are paying as a guest, you should be able to pick up at least one cup of free reg. or decaf. brewed coffee. Instead, we had to pay over $8 for 3 plain cups of coffee. With that said, the hotel does provide packaged coffee in the room that you can brew yourself.

| We spent a few days here during Spring Break. While the hotel is big & we had to hike a bit to get to our room (at the very end), we were able to have easy access to Downtown Disney and exited right by the entance to the parks. Rooms were big & CLEAN - a big plus. Everyone was very helpful. The Storyteller's Cafe was very good - the character breakfast was fun. We didn't have reservations (but I recommend them!!), but we were still seated within 10 minutes.

| A great place to stay with kids obviously. The lobby is a great area with a roaring fire and a "storyteller" playing the guitar by it at night. Also, access to the parks is right downstairs and you're in the middle of all the downtown disney action. The rooms are pretty small and not at all deluxe. However, everyone is super friendly, polite and helpful - great staff!

| My family and I recently stayed at the Grand Californian. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a large tree in the lobby. As soon as we arrived, the level of service was outstanding. The rooms are nicely appointed and have subtle Disney themes using Snow White and Bambi. A mini-bar is in the room and if you have little ones that may be anxious to indulge in the goodies, all you have to do is call down to the front desk and ask to have it electronically locked. Our room was located between the monorail pass through and Downtown Disney and noise was never a problem. In a hotel where people are coming and going at all times of the day and night, we never felt the impact of that constant activity. The overall atmosphere was warm and friendly with the oversized fire in the lobby, the coziness of the lounge, and the exceptional dining at the Napa Rose. This hotel added to the magical holiday atmosphere of Disneyland and made our stay a memorable one.

| This was such a wonderful hotel experience. Disney made such an effort to switch our rooms when a king size bed was not available at the start of our stay.. they moved our stuff in 2 days when one became available. We also mentioned that it was our anniversary and Disney made a big fuss in decorating our room for the occasion. The pools were great as was the spa.. I got the best message in the world.

| The hotel was great as far as convenience to the parks. With a 2 and 5 year old it was great to be so close. ASK QUESTIONS and make sure you know all the perks that go with the high priced hotel. The front desk failed to tell us about early entry to the parks, we only found out from the waitress making excuses for our breakfast taking so long, " everyone wants to get to the park for early entry this morning" she told us. Room was nice, clean and we had a beautiful view of the pool and park. We will definitely come again.

| Not impressed at all with hotel! It is run down and not nicer than any of the hotels across the street. If you do not valet you have to cross the highway to self parking! Otherwise you pay a daily rate for valet! Our bedding was left in a basket outside the room in the am--guess you have to make your own bed? Pool is overcrowded and not any fancier than a backyard pool. There is no evidence that this is a Disney hotel--no trace of Mickey anywhere

| Staying at the Disney Grand Californian is part of our "Disney" adventure. Walking out of the hotel directly on to Downtown Disney is part of the fun! Everything is thought of for you at the hotel and for the kids, the chocolates left on the bunkbeds "from Mickey" was a fun surprise. The hotel is too beautiful for words, which makes it all the better for the parents on a "family" trip. Got an amazing rate going early in the Summer season. Will be returning next availble reduced rate in the fall. LOVE the hotel!

| What a beautiful, cozy and relaxing hotel! You feel like you are worlds away, not in the middle of Disneyland. And the hotel motife is not overboard "Disney". The Check In Staff were wonderful as were all of the other "cast members" we met. We had a great dinner at The Story Book Cafe. After dinner we sat by the fireplace in the lobby. There are big comfy couches and chairs and rocking chairs by the fire. The hotel exits right out into Disney's California or Down Town Disney, which makes easy access for eating and shopping. The pool area was fun, even for an all adult group. I would definetly stay here again. It may be a bit pricey but hey, it's your vacation, go all out!

| My husband, our 2-year old son and myslef were just at Grand Californian from 2/18 - 2/22.Hotel was great, clean and very luxury. My only complaint goes to their flexibility when it comes to children and wanting to help you. THey have their rules but and thay are not willing to go out of their way to help you. My son is a very picky eater, and I knew this before going on a trip. So, I packed some "soups to go" (kind you can just heat up in the microwave) and few mac and cheese pockets (kind that you just put in microwave and it's done in 3 minutes). My son didn't want to eat any of the food there, so I called the front desk and room service to help me heat this food and they said that they cannot do that - due to safety reasons. Nobody ever suggested any other alternative. I am usually easy going and I do not make any strange demands, but when your child is not eating anything the entire day - what would you do?But, when we checked out of the hotel we let them know about our problem and why our stay wasn't so perfect; their response was: "We could've heat it up for you at the front desk." That really makes you think, what were those other front desk people telling me.Being a Disney hotel, wouldn't they need to be more flexible and friendlier towards kids?! I am not going there anymore. I paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel and I really didn't get quality service I expected.
