| The hotel was nice, but we went in July and we were only 1 of 5 American Families that were there. The rest were Mexicans, so everything was catered to them in Spanish. There was a lady that was selling time shares at the hotel and she wouldn't leave us alone. We left the resort every day and explored more of Puerto Vallarta - that was fun. We did the Canopy tour - awesome.

Food was very good , very well prepared and plenty of choices. Entertainment team was very good. I would recommend it especially for families with children. Would like to go back.

| In general, the hotel delivered what it advertised, a family friendly place to relax. As others have stated the beach is small, but the pool is large. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. You do not need to get the airport taxi vouchers, wish I saw that before I bought them from this site. Downtown Puerto Vallarta is a cheap bus fare away as is Walmart. The rooms were fine, and so was the food. Seemed like the restaurants on site served about the same quality of food as the buffet, but with better ambiance. Plus you only get to go to each restaurant once. You WILL get hassled every time you stroll through the lobby to join the vacation club, but that also happens walking down any street, we got used to it, and they eventually gave up on us. They do serve the cheap alcohol unless you ask them. I drank good tequila for free all week by just asking.

| The hotel on it's own was nice, the rooms were always clean, and the housekeeping staff was very honest. The staff is nice, but watch out for the Concierge, when you get there, they try and get you to go to a meeting so they can sell you trips to other Melia Hotels, PASS The beach is small. But it was still enjoyable esp for the kids. The Kids and Teens club are just a joke. The really don't do any activities with the kids. The zip cord was broken and the rock climbing and batting cages were only run for about 2 hours, and depending on your plans, you could miss it. The outdoor chess didn't exist. The shuffelboard was broken. The pool was big lots of room for everyone, clean. Honestly we really aren't picky, it was just ok for a 3 1/2 star hotel. They do give you plenty of water and the alcohol is good. If you ask for strong drinks they give them to you. The buffets were good to ok for breakfast, the lunch buffets were just ok the snack bar was hamburgers and hotdogs, dried out!!! The good food was if you make reservations in the restaurants. Those were all good. The night time shows are ok. Not much of a night life, the loby bar at night is not open very long if you like to stay up late. We stayed at a big yellow hotel last time that was a 2 1/2 star and it was better than this. Look on the internet and you'll find that one. The pools are smaller, but more pools. The beach is better there and the food is much better there. I'd stay there again before Melia.

| All in all the hotel was nice and the service was good, but the vacation club people bother you a lot so don't fall for the free coupons so you can be their prisoner for 4 or 5 hours while you are supposed to be on vacation. It is an older hotel and the rooms and elevators are well used and could use an update. The food was pretty good but the usual all inclusive fare. Although the restaurants that require reservations were much better and that service was super. The beach at the hotel was very small and vendors were a constant presence. But the hotel seawall area has a lot of chairs, although they need some new chairs, it is a nice place to watch the sunset. Puerto Vallarta is a pretty place to visit with various forms of entertainment. Las Caletas is nice but don't waste your time diving it was awful. Los Arcos would probably be better but I didn't get to try that.

| Our family enjoyed the resort but it wasn't as nice as a previous all-inclusive I've stayed at. The elevators smelled bad like mold. The rooms also smelled musty. The jacuzzi's didn't work in the pool area. The food was ok. The beds are very hard but we slept just fine in them. The live nightly shows were very good, my 11 year old son loved the batting cage and the rock climbing wall, but each are open only a short time in the afternoons. There were alot of families there so it felt comfortable for kids. They had a great DJ a few nights in the lobby bar aread and live music the other nights that was also great. Beware of timeshare salespeople everywhere in the hotel, the airport, and everywhere. If you aren't interested in a timeshare avoid them at all costs they will really waste your time. Know also the hotel doesn't exchange your american money for the actual rate so you do lose money if you exchange at their counter. It is better to use the ATM, as long as your bank doesn't charge you too much. The staff was nice, the weather was perfect. The pirate ship cruise was great! La Kliffe restaurant was beautiful and worth the drive. It is a beautiful city and wonderful weather all year. We used taxi's for getting around and most of them were great. Just be sure of what they are charging before you get into the car. Overall Melia is good for families but if you are single or a couple try for a more adult oriented resort.

| Our first impressions were not good, the hotel seemed way over crowded and not all that clean but this ended up to be a great holiday. First of all I have to say we picked a bad time, Easter week is one of the biggest holidays in Mexico so all hotels are crowded. Their kid camp and kid entertainment was excellent. The nightly shows were great....One of the resturants is open air and the setting is beautiful but the food was not very good. The family room had two double beds and a very noisy bunk bed but it is nice to have four beds in your room when you have two kids.

| We had a great time at the Melia. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The room was nice but not spectacular, however who spends much time in the room when in Mexico? Food and drink are available around the clock and with 3 kids, the poolside snacks were wonderful. The evening shows were entertaining and always start with an activity for kids. We will return next year.

| Sol Melia PV is part of one of the world's largest hotel chains, but primarily based in Europe, with half of their properties in Spain. The decor and layout are decidedly European. Food was generally pretty good. Ironically, the boss they offered better variety and in some cases better food than the sitdown restaurants at which reservations were required. Beach was a little small comfortable. Nice big pool. Nearly across the street from Marina Vallarta Club de Golf, a solid golf course. Short cab ride to downtown. Much better atmosphere and for less hectic and the Hotel Zone area. The Marina is basically across the street, and has a number of nice restaurants and a few shops. Minor complaint: there are no alarm clocks or radios in the rooms. Another less minor complaint: the staff definitely gives you the hard sell on listening to the presentation regarding their vacation club or timeshare program.

The public areas are also being worked on. We liked the location, close to the Marina. All inclusive was good for the family, but after a week, the buffet was getting a little old.

| We just returned from our weeklong stay at the Melia with our 2 young sons, ages 3 and 5. This is a wonderful place to take young children, and a good value for the money. The rooms are very basic and the hotel is starting to show its age a little bit, but everything was clean. The staff is very nice and attentive. Our boys loved the big pool and the Flintstones playground. They took part in some of the children's activities and had fun there too. The beach is small, but the pool makes up for that. The food is typical of an all inclusive, the mass produced variety, but little kids don't really care. And with the reasonable price, we felt that we could justify eating out for supper. The little fridge in the room is a real plus for families too. This is a great place if you don't want to worry about your kids' laughing and shrieking and splashing bothering other peaceful sunbathers. They won't, this place has lots of kids and lots of loud activities.

| My wife and I along with our two kids just returned from a 7 night stay at the Melia. This is our 4th trip to PVR in the last 7 years - 1st time staying at the Melia - and we were definitely impressed. Hotel staff was excellent, general meals were good (actually preferred their general dining vs. the other 3 restaurants at the hotel - more variety). Pools were great, kids walking on the beach, service on drinks at pool was great. We opted for the ocean view - well worth the additional money if you want the perfect views. We enjoyed it so much - we joined their Vacation Club.

| The people who take care of you at Hotel Melia are what makes this hotel. The entryway ambience and garden area are beautiful and enhance the Mexican coastal resort feeling. The buffet and poolside grill and round the clock drinks we looked forward to everyday. The grilled meat, poultry & fish were on the well done side, but mixed in the sauces - were delicious. We could take the bus easily downtown.

The city, called the Malacon is about a $7-$10 cab ride away, but offers great resturants, shopping and night life.

| I was registered as one of the only VIPs staying at the hotel, and yet was treated extremely poorly. My room was in the worst location in the hotel and on a floor with every screaming child in the place (of which there were a LOT of). The front desk personnel was rude and unhelpful. The evening events went on until all hours of the morning and was so loud you could hear it five blocks away. Even with my door closed (which meant I couldn't enjoy listening to the ocean),I was blasted out of my room and unable to sleep. Because it was all inclusive, the choice of alcohol was limited to nasty cheap stuff, and on more than one occassion I caught the bartender not even putting any tequila in our margeritas!! I would never stay here again.

| This is not the right location if you want to use the beach or swim in the ocean. The beach is really small and we were stung by jellyfish withing 10 minutes of getting into the water. The locals commented that they get washed into the bay. This area is the Marina area - not the place to be if you want to swim. The food is BAD, and I'm not a picky eater. My feet hung over the end of the bed (I'm 5'7") and the pillows were flat and rock hard. There was no remote to the TV and the on/off button was missing.

| Expedia bills this as a three and a half star resort. Absolutely untrue. It is a solid four star. I was there from April 8th to April 12th of this year. The lobby is breathtaking and the grounds large and well kept. The rooms were a pleasant surprize, being larger and more sophisticated than I would expect from what I thought would essentially be a three star hotel. The staff warms to you with only a modest attempt at the Spanish language and the excursion staff knows you by your first name almost immediately. The whole feeling is one of upscale without the attitude. I am alraedy planning my next trip back.
